: Biochemistry Teaching through Sport-case Analyses to Improve Students' Sport Scientific Literacy. This quasi-experimental study focuses on examining the effect of biochemistry teaching on students' sport scientific literacy (SSL). The study involved 107 students of a teacher training institution, selected using a stratified random sampling. The results of t-test utilizing pre-test and post-test control group design show that biochemistry teaching affects students' SSL, as indicated by the scores of the experimental group which were four times higher than those of the control group. The SSL level of the experimental group increased from level 2 (nominal) and level 3 (functional) to level 3 (functional), level 4 (conceptual), and level 5 (multidimensional)

    Lower semi-continuity of Lagrangian volume

We study lower semi-continuity properties of the volume, i.e., the surface area, of a closed Lagrangian manifold with respect to the Hofer- and γ\gamma-distance on a class of monotone Lagrangian submanifolds Hamiltonian isotopic to each other. We prove that volume is γ\gamma-lower semi-continuous in two cases. In the first one the volume form comes from a K\"ahler metric with a large group of Hamiltonian isometries, but there are no additional constraints on the Lagrangian submanifold. The second one is when the volume is taken with respect to any compatible metric, but the Lagrangian submanifold must be a torus. As a consequence, in both cases, the volume is Hofer lower semi-continuous.Comment: 16 page

The background of this study was the number of students who did not dare to appear and speak in front of the class when it comes to perform various activities that require speaking in front of people like presentation, speech, and speech. The study also aims to reduce anxiety speak to the class to students through speech techniques. The method in this research is action counseling carried out in two cycles. with qualitative data analysis techniques. and the subjects in the study were students of class XI MIA 3 MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru amounting to 23 students. With research procedures and discussion shows the results of the first cycle there are six (21%) of students are at very high category, 12 (43%) of students at the high category, 9 (32%) of students are in the low category, and 1 (4% ) students are at very low category. In Cycle II results showed that there is a decrease in the level of anxiety to speak to the class experienced by students that there are two (7%) of students who are at very high category, seven (25%) of students at the high category, 15 (54%) students are in the low category, and 4 (14%) of students who are in the very low category. This shows that the speech exercises can reduce the level of anxiety to speak to the class

    Glassy Dynamics of Protein Folding

A coarse grained model of a random polypeptide chain, with only discrete torsional degrees of freedom and Hookean springs connecting pairs of hydrophobic residues is shown to display stretched exponential relaxation under Metropolis dynamics at low temperatures with the exponent β≃1/4\beta\simeq 1/4, in agreement with the best experimental results. The time dependent correlation functions for fluctuations about the native state, computed in the Gaussian approximation for real proteins, have also been found to have the same functional form. Our results indicate that the energy landscape exhibits universal features over a very large range of energies and is relatively independent of the specific dynamics.Comment: RevTeX, 4 pages, multicolumn, including 5 figures; larger computations performed, error bars improve

Invariant Sets and Hyperbolic Closed Reeb Orbits

We investigate the effect of a hyperbolic (or, more generally, isolated as an invariant set) closed Reeb orbit on the dynamics of a Reeb flow on the (2n−1)(2n-1)-dimensional standard contact sphere, extending two results previously known for Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms to the Reeb setting. In particular, we show that under very mild dynamical convexity type assumptions, the presence of one hyperbolic closed orbit implies the existence of infinitely many simple closed Reeb orbits. The second main result of the paper is a higher-dimensional Reeb analogue of the Le Calvez-Yoccoz theorem, asserting that no closed orbit of a non-degenerate dynamically convex Reeb pseudo-rotation is locally maximal, i.e., isolated as an invariant set. The key new ingredient of the proofs is a Reeb variant of the crossing energy theorem.Comment: 45 page

GaN directional couplers for integrated quantum photonics

Large cross-section GaN waveguides are proposed as a suitable architecture to achieve integrated quantum photonic circuits. Directional couplers with this geometry have been designed with aid of the beam propagation method and fabricated using inductively coupled plasma etching. Scanning electron microscopy inspection shows high quality facets for end coupling and a well defined gap between rib pairs in the coupling region. Optical characterization at 800 nm shows single-mode operation and coupling-length-dependent splitting ratios. Two photon interference of degenerate photon pairs has been observed in the directional coupler by measurement of the Hong-Ou-Mandel dip with 96% visibility.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure

Disaster education as an effort to improve students' flood mitigation preparedness

Reducing disaster risk is an important thing that needs to be done at all levels of society, including students. This study aims to determine students' level of preparedness for flood disasters and the efforts made by schools in dealing with flood disasters. This study used a descriptive quantitative method conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Jeneponto. The population in this study was 95 students, with a total sample of 49 students determined using the Slovin formula with a ten percent margin of error. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The research results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed that knowledge of attitudes, emergency response plans, disaster warning systems, and students' disaster preparedness when a flood disaster occurs are included in the "very prepared" category. This research has implications for school practice in terms of developing a school curriculum that includes material on natural disasters and risk reduction, as well as training teachers and educators to teach and communicate about natural disasters to provide appropriate information to students
