BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER WITH VARIABLE VISCOSITY IN THE PRESENCE OF MAGNETIC FIELD

    Get PDF
A steady two dimensional boundary layer flow and heat transfer with variable viscosity electrically conducting fluid at T in the presence of magnetic fields and thermal radiation was considered. The governing equations which are partial differential equations were transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity variables, and the resulting coupled ordinary differential equations were solved using collocation method in MAPLE 18. The velocity and temperature profiles were studied graphically for different physical parameters. The effects of the parameters on velocity and temperature profile were showed

IMPACTS OF COAGULANTS ON QUALITY OF SOFT CHEESE PRODUCED FROM COW-SOY MILK BLENDS

    Get PDF
Production of cheese at household level involved the use of different locally produced coagulants which include alum, Sodom apple and fermented maize liquor. Their effects on quality of cheese made from blends of cow-soy milk are sparse. This work investigated effect of coagulants on soft cheese produced from cow soy blends. Soft cheese samples were produced from cow-soy milk blends (90:10%). The cheese was coagulated using three locally available coagulants {juice of Sodom apple (Calotropis procera), aqueous solution of Potassium alum and fermented maize liquor}. Samples were analysed for yield, pH, proximate and mineral contents. Microbial analysis and sensory attributes were also determined. The yield obtained ranged from 38.7 to 39.0%. Highest yield was obtained from Sodom apple coagulated cheese sample. Cheese produced using fermented maize liquor had the highest pH (6.07) while Sodom apple and alum coagulated cheese had the pH values of 6.83 and 6.97, respectively.  The moisture contents of the produced cow-soy cheese ranged from 70.4 to 73.57%. The protein content of the cheese samples coagulated with alum had the highest (12.97%) in all the samples. There was no fiber in all the cheese samples produced. Calcium contents obtained from the three samples ranged between 171.67 and 185.00 mg/100 g. The iron content of cheese coagulated with fermented maize liquor (3.63 mg) was significantly (p < 0.05) higher than that of alum coagulated (3.23 mg/100 g) and Sodom apple coagulated cheese (3.33 mg/100 g). Higher microbial load was recorded in cheese samples coagulated with FML. The sensory attributes of the cheese samples varied with different coagulants. This indicates that the type of coagulant used in cheese-making has effect on the yield, pH some nutritional and sensory attributes of cheese

Robust , fast and accurate lane departure warning system using deep learning and mobilenets

    Get PDF
Every year, millions of people die from fatalities on the road. This paper develops a lane departure warning system that will alert the driver when the driver may be veering off the road. Recent advances in Deep learning and Artificial Intelligence have shown that Convolutional Neural Networks can be excellent at extracting and identifying features in an image. However, Convolutional Neural Networks are often run on Expensive GPU’s with colossal memory and typically run millions of operations in a second. This is a challenging problem for embedded characterized by limited memory or processing power and a real-time capability. In this paper, a lightweight, robust and low memory architecture is explored to enable its incorporation as an embedded system. The proposed final architecture utilizes a novel semantic regression technique that integrates the accuracy of semantic segregation and the speed of regression. An end-to-end Deep learning system is used which takes images as an inputs and outputs the found lane in one shot. The developed system achieves 91.83% accuracy on Malaysian roads

Perspectives on Effectiveness of Gypsum Board over Sandcrete Block as Walling Material

Alternative material for construction of walls is gradually coming to stay in view of the scarce nature of traditional concrete material that is often being used. In the choice of suitable alternative walling material such as Gypsum board presented in this study, parameter such as cost, durability, shelf live among others need to be considered. It is based on this premises that perspectives on effectiveness of Gypsum board over sandcrete blocks as walling material. The analysis of the primary data received through the administered questionnaires was done using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), a software package developed for data analysis. Ninety-five (95) questionnaires were distributed to various construction organizations. · The data was analyzed using the Mean Index Score (MIS) method of ranking. the research showed that the use of gypsum wallboard will be beneficial in terms of time, ease of construction and handling; it is not yet manufactured in Nigeria and will require some special training for manufacture and installation by local technicians or artisans. the research showed that the board is durable especially for construction of non-load bearing walls as it is not subjected to too much stress so it can last for very long periods.Nine, the research proved that the effect of the Nigerian weather on the board is minimal. The board panels are used for internal walling and are not affected by the sun or rain or extreme temperatures and therefore are not damaged easily. The board however is affected by the foundation on which it stands: therefore, if the foundation is stable, failure free and water free, the gypsum panel wall also remains stable and damage fre
