A singlet-triplet extension for the Higgs search at LEP and LHC
We describe a simple extension of the standard model, containing a scalar
singlet and a triplet fermion. The model can explain the possible enhancement
in the decay at the LHC together with the excess
found in the Higgs boson search at LEP2. The structure of the model is
motivated by a recent argument, that was used to explain the number of fermion
generations. For the sake of completenes we also considered the contributions

Prognostic factors of survival in patients treated with nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine regimen for advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer: A single institutional experience.
The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness of nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine (NAB-P/GEM) regimen in an unselected population of patients with advanced inoperable or metastatic pancreatic cancer (PC), and to identify the prognostic factors influencing overall survival (OS). EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: Patients with age < 85 years, ECOG-performance status (PS) < 3, and adequate renal, hepatic and hematologic function were eligible. NAB-P (125 mg/m2) and GEM (1000 mg/m2) day 1,8,15 every 4 weeks were employed for 3-6 cycles or until highest response. RESULTS: Overall, 147 cycles (median 4, range 1-11 cycles) were administered on thirty-seven consecutive patients (median 66 years old, range 40-82) treated. The median overall progression-free survival and OS were 6.2 and 9.2 months, respectively. The G 3-4 dose-limiting toxicity were neutropenia (20.7%), severe anemia (17.2%), and cardiovascular toxicity (10.3%). PS, number of cycles, baseline CA 19-9 and LDH serum levels, were found to be significantly related to OS. The multivariate analysis showed that both number of cycles (HR = 9.14, 95% CI 1.84-45.50, p = 0.001) and PS (HR = 13.18, 95% CI 2.73-63.71, p = 0.001) were independently associated with OS.
CONCLUSION: NAB-P/GEM regimen should be used in all patients with advanced or metastatic PC, with the exception of those with serious contraindications to chemotherapy, such as severe renal or hepatic impairment or major cardiovascular diseases
The Z' boson of the minimal B-L model at future Linear Colliders in e+e- --> mu+mu-
We study the capabilities of future electron-positron Linear Colliders, with
centre-of-mass energy at the TeV scale, in accessing the parameter space of a
boson within the minimal model. We carry out a detailed comparison
between the discovery regions mapped over a two-dimensional configuration space
( mass and coupling) at the Large Hadron Collider and possible future
Linear Colliders for the case of di-muon production. As known in the literature
for other models, we confirm that leptonic machines, as compared to the
CERN hadronic accelerator, display an additional potential in discovering a
boson as well as in allowing one to study its properties at a level of

Tree Level Unitarity Bounds for the Minimal B-L Model
We have derived the unitarity bounds in the high energy limit for the minimal
B-L extension of the Standard Model by analysing the full class of Higgs and
would-be Goldstone boson two-to-two scatterings at tree level. Moreover, we
have investigated how these limits could vary at some lower critical value of

Natural model with an inverse seesaw and leptonic dark matter
We consider a model for a Z'-boson coupled only to baryon minus lepton number
and hypercharge. Besides the usual right-handed neutrinos, we add a pair of
fermions with a fractional lepton charge, which we therefore call leptinos. One
of the leptinos is taken to be odd under an additional Z_2 charge, the other
even. This allows for a natural (inverse) seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses.
The odd leptino is a candidate for dark matter, but has to be resonantly
annihilated by the Z'-boson or the Higgs-boson responsible for giving mass to
the former. Considering collider and cosmological bounds on the model, we find
that the Z'-boson and/or the extra Higgs-boson can be seen at the LHC. With

Resonant Leptogenesis in the Minimal B-L Extended Standard Model at TeV
We investigate the resonant leptogenesis scenario in the minimal B-L extended
standard model(SM) with the B-L symmetry breaking at the TeV scale. Through
detailed analysis of the Boltzmann equations, we show how much the resultant
baryon asymmetry via leptogenesis is enhanced or suppressed, depending on the
model parameters, in particular, the neutrino Dirac Yukawa couplings and the
TeV-scale Majorana masses of heavy degenerate neutrinos. In order to consider a
realistic case, we impose a simple ansatz for the model parameters and analyze
the neutrino oscillation parameters and the baryon asymmetry via leptogenesis
as a function of only a single CP-phase. We find that for a fixed CP-phase all
neutrino oscillation data and the observed baryon asymmetry of the present

Dynamic reconfiguration of GCM components
We detail in this report past research and current/future developments in formal specification of Grid component systems by temporal logic and consequent resolution technique, for an automated dynamic reconfiguration of components. It is analysed the specification procedure of GCM (Grid Component Model) components and infrastructure in respect to their state behaviour, and the verification process in a dynamic and reconfigurable distributed system. Furthermore it is demonstrated how an automata based method is used to achieve the specification, as well as how the enrichment of the temporal specification language of Computation Tree Logic CTL with the ability to capture norms, allows to formally define the concept of reconfiguration
Physiological Effects of Five Different Marine Natural Organic Matters (NOMs) and Three Different Metals (Cu, Pb, Zn) on Early Life Stages of the Blue Mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis)
Metals are present in aquatic environments as a result of natural and anthropogenic inputs, and may induce toxicity to organisms. One of the main factors that influence this toxicity in fresh water is natural organic matter (NOM) but all NOMs are not the same in this regard. In sea water, possible protection by marine NOMs is not well understood. Thus, our study isolated marine NOMs by solid-phase extraction from five different sites and characterized them by excitation-emission fluorescence analysis—one inshore (terrigenous origin), two offshore (autochthonous origin), and two intermediate in composition (indicative of a mixed origin). The physiological effects of these five NOMS alone (at 8 mg/L), of three metals alone (copper, lead and zinc at 6 µg Cu/L, 20 µg Pb/L, and 25 µg Zn/L respectively), and of each metal in combination with each NOM, were evaluated in 48-h exposures of mussel larvae. Endpoints were whole body Ca2++Mg2+-ATPase activity, carbonic anhydrase activity and lipid peroxidation. By themselves, NOMs increased lipid peroxidation, Ca2++Mg2+-ATPase, and/or carbonic anhydrase activities (significant in seven of 15 NOM-endpoint combinations), whereas metals by themselves did not affect the first two endpoints, but Cu and Pb increased carbonic anhydrase activities. In combination, the effects of NOMs predominated, with the metal exerting no additional effect in 33 out of 45 combinations. While NOM effects varied amongst different isolates, there was no clear pattern with respect to optical or chemical properties. When NOMs were treated as a single source by data averaging, NOM had no effect on Ca2++Mg2+-ATPase activity but markedly stimulated carbonic anhydrase activity and lipid peroxidation, and there were no additional effects of any metal. Our results indicate that marine NOMs may have direct effects on this model marine organism, as well as protective effects against metal toxicity, and the quality of marine NOMs may be an important factor in these actions
