CP Violation: Past, Present, and Future
We discuss the history of CP violation and its manifestations in kaon
physics, its explanation in terms of phases of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa
matrix describing charge-changing weak quark transitions, predictions for
experiments involving mesons, and the light it can shed on physics beyond
the Standard Model.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX, 8 figures, Invited talk presented at XXI Brazilian

Theoretical Issues in Flavor Physics
Quark and lepton flavor physics presents us with a basic question: Can we
understand the pattern of masses and mixings of the known quarks and leptons,
and how do present and proposed measurements help to advance that goal? Topics
discussed include the apparent suppression of new flavor-changing effects, the
status of quark and lepton mixing, the implications of new measurements of CP
asymmetries in heavy quark decays, the impications of forthcoming experiments
on the muon's anomalous magnetic moment and its transitions to an electron, and
what we can hope to learn from electric dipole moments.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, presentation at the DPF 2013 Meeting of the

Physics (Theory)
Some theoretical aspects of physics are reviewed. These include a brief
recapitulation of information on weak quark transitions as described by the
Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix, a description of CP asymmetries in
decays to CP eigenstates and self-tagging modes, a discussion of final-state
phases in and charm decays, some topics on properties and decays, the
prospects for unusual excited states opened by discovery of some narrow resonances, and the prospects for seeing the heavier quarks
predicted in some extended grand unified theories.Comment: 23 pages, LaTeX, 12 figures, invited talk presented at Fourth

M2 signatures in psi(2S) radiative decays
The sensitivity of observables in radiative decays psi(2S) -> gamma chi_{1,2}
-> gamma gamma J/psi to quadrupole (M2) admixtures in the dominant electric
dipole (E1) transitions is explored. Emphasis is placed on distributions in a
single angle, and several examples are given.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, to be submitted to Phys. Rev. D. Additional data
