Anger and Social Problem Solving Style as Predictors of Burnout in Mental Health Workers
This study examined how the variables of anger and social problem-solving style affect the dimensions of burnout in a sample of 99 mental health workers. To assess these constructs, the State-Trait Anger Scale-2, and the Social Problem Solving Inventory-Revised were utilized. The Maslach Burnout Inventory for Human Services Staff was used to measure job burnout. Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, and a decrease in the sense of Personal Accomplishment are the core dimensions of burnout on this measure. Emotional Exhaustion and Depersonalization correlated significantly with State Anger, Trait Anger, and Negative Problem Orientation. Significant inverse correlations were demonstrated for State Anger, Trait Anger, Negative Problem Orientation, and the burnout component of Personal Accomplishment. Hierarchical multiple regression indicated that Trait Anger predicted a significant amount of the variance in Emotional Exhaustion and Depersonalization. Positive Problem Orientation also accounted for a significant amount of the variance in Depersonalization. Negative Problem Orientation was predictive of Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, and Personal Accomplishment. State Anger and Rational Problem-Solving Style also explained a significant amount of variance in Personal Accomplishment

Gaining Competitive Advantage By Using Rapid Prototyping in Aircraft Modification
Raytheon-Waco (formerly Chrysler Technologies Airborne Systems) is an aircraft
modification facility in Waco, TX, specializing in military, executive, and head-of-state aircraft
modifications. Raytheon-Waco has over 25 years of aircraft modification experience, and is a
leading contractor for major US and foreign government programs that require system design,
airframe modification, installation, flight testing, and post-delivery technical and logistical
support. Current programs at Raytheon-Waco include foreign government Head-of-State widebody
aircraft modifications consisting ofluxury interiors, secure communications, and airframe
modifications, and US and foreign military aircraft modifications involving electronics,
communications, avionics, and airframe modifications.
The aircraft modification industry is highly competitive, with a variety of very competent
companies constantly trying to increase market share and move into new markets. RaytheonWaco
has focused primarily on military communications and transport aircraft, and Head-ofState
wide-body aircraft. Due to increasing competition and customer cost-conscientiousness,
Raytheon-Waco is working to reduce cost and cycle time while maintaining its reputation for
delivering on time and within budget. There is also movement into other markets, such as lowercost
wide-body executive aircraft.
Raytheon-Waco is currently transitioning to a paperless design process, with the ultimate
goal of performing all design, analysis, manufacturing, and aircraft installation from CAD
models without requiring paper drawings. Increased use of electronic models will also allow
more parallel processes to be performed, eliminating many of the sequential design steps
currently required. Among the steps that will be performed in parallel will be detailed design,
manufacturing and installation planning, technical publications, and design analysis. Without
improved initial designs, parallel work will only lead to increased rework and wasted effort.
Rapid prototyping is a key factor in reducing risks associated with concurrent processes, and its
benefits are critical to efforts to reduce the cost and schedule of future aircraft modifications.Mechanical Engineerin
INFORMATION SYSTEMS SUPPORT FOR ASSESSMENT OF MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE: AN EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION
This paper reports the results of a study to determine how individual managers assemble information from automated systems when the task is evaluating organization performance. An experiment was conducted in which managers were given varying forms of information over a period of time and required to accumulate the information they would need for a later evaluation decision. As the results show, there are differences in the way individuals select and assemble reported information system design practices
Faculty experience of flipping the classroom: Lessons learned
Flipping the classroom is gaining in popularity. The flipped classroom permits active learning and student engagement whereby the traditional class time is transformed into an active learning experience in which students can apply knowledge and interact with their peers and perform hands-on activities. This descriptive phenomenological study focused on the lived experiences of nursing faculty implementing a flipped classroom into the medical/surgical curriculum. The faculty\u27s experience with implementing and adapting to non-traditional teaching learning methods of the flipped classroom in their medical/surgical classes is shared. The themes expressed by faculty are presented in the two overall categories of: Faculty concerns and Faculty benefits. Lastly, lessons learned and recommendations are also presented
Cognitive Speed of Processing Training Can Promote Community Mobility among Older Adults: A Brief Review
Background. Community mobility is crucial for maintaining independent functioning and quality of life for older adults. Purpose. The present paper describes the relationship of cognition, particularly speed of processing as measured by the Useful Field of View Test, to mobility as indicated by driving behaviors, life space, and falls among healthy older adults. Research examining the impact of cognitive speed of processing training (SOPT) on older adults' community mobility (i.e., driving behaviors) is also summarized. Key Issues. Even slight cognitive declines can place older adults at risk for mobility limitations. However, cognitive interventions like SOPT can mitigate declines in driving mobility. Implications. The potential of SOPT to sustain community mobility among older adults is discussed

Employment experience and job satisfaction of new mothers
In spite of the high family demands associated with having an infant, an increasing number of women are choosing to retain close ties to the labor force during this period. This study explored the employment adjustments and job satisfaction of a group of women who became mothers for the first time. The data for this study were taken from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth. Thirty-one married women who had their first child between the 1981 and1982 interviews and were employed during both the 1980 and 1982 interviews were the focus of analysis. A pre-post design was utilized to identify changes in employment characteristics and job satisfaction following childbirth. Two additional groups of women; childless women (n=171) and women with at least two children (n=62) were included in the analysis for comparison purposes. Strategies for managing the new responsibilities of parenthood included decreasing hours worked on the job and changing the shift worked. Few other changes were observed in the comparison of pre-pregnancy job characteristics with post-childbirth job characteristics. No change in job satisfaction was found. This stability may be due the fact that 65 percent of new mothers were attached to one employer during this two year period. Additional analysis revealed that 91 percent of new mothers had only one employer during the year they gave birth. Thus, it appears from these data that the ability to return to the same employer following childbirth may be pivotal in women's decision to return quickly to the labor force. Correlation and stepwise regression analysis were utilized to identify factors related to 1982 level of job satisfaction and 1980-82 changes in job satisfaction. In general, both static job satisfaction and change in job satisfaction were more strongly related to job characteristics than personal and family characteristics. Stepwise regression analysis provided a six-variable model, accounting for 44 percent of the variance in the static measure of job satisfaction and a ten-variable model, accounting for 37 percent of the variance in change in job satisfaction
