Development of user guidelines for ECAS display design, volume 1
Experiment computer application software (ECAS) display design and command usage guidelines were developed, which if followed by spacelab experiments, would standardize methods and techniques for data presentation and commanding via ECAS. These guidelines would provide some commonality among experiments which would enhance crew training and flight operations. The guidelines are applicable to all onboard experiment displays, whether allocated by ECAS or a dedicated experiment processor. A brief description of the spacelab data display system characteristics and of the services provided by the experiment computer operating system is included. Guidelines concerning data presentation and layout of alphanumeric and graphic information are presented along with guidelines concerning keyboard commanding and command feedback
Two decades of pulsar timing of Vela
Pulsar timing at the Mt Pleasant observatory has focused on Vela, which can
be tracked for 18 hours of the day. These nearly continuous timing records
extend over 24 years allowing a greater insight into details of timing noise,
micro glitches and other more exotic effects. In particular we report the
glitch parameters of the 2004 event, along with the reconfirmation that the
spin up for the Vela pulsar occurs instantaneously to the accuracy of the data.
This places a lower limit of about 30 seconds for the acceleration of the
pulsar to the new rotational frequency. We also confirm of the low braking
index for Vela, and the continued fall in the DM for this pulsar.Comment: Isolated Neutron Stars conference, London, April 24-28 200
ANALYSIS OF BORROWER AND LENDER USE OF INTEREST ASSISTANCE ON FSA GUARANTEED FARM LOANS
The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 made permanent the interest assistance program for the Farm Service Agency's guaranteed loans, authorized a significant increase in funding for the program, and targeted funding for beginning farmers and ranchers. The research presented here provides a basic descriptive analysis of past use. In particular, borrower data for Federal fiscal years 1985 through 2002 are examined in several dimensions. These dimensions include geographic, borrower type, lender type, interest rate differentials, percent guarantee, and the status of the loan as to whether a loss claim was paid or the loan remained active. Even though the program has been in existence for more than 15 years, little is known about its impact and utilization. Management of Elbow Dislocations in the National Football League.
Background: Although much literature exists regarding the treatment and management of elbow dislocations in the general population, little information is available regarding management in the athletic population. Furthermore, no literature is available regarding the postinjury treatment and timing of return to play in the contact or professional athlete.
Purpose: To review the clinical course of elbow dislocations in professional football players and determine the timing of return to full participation.
Study Design: Case series; Level of evidence, 4.
Methods: All National Football League (NFL) athletes with elbow dislocations from 2000 through 2011 who returned to play during the season were identified from the NFL Injury Surveillance System (NFL ISS). Roster position, player activity, use of external bracing, and clinical course were reviewed. Mean number of days lost until full return to play was determined for players with elbow dislocations who returned in the same season.
Results: From 2000 to 2011, a total of 62 elbow dislocations out of 35,324 injuries were recorded (0.17%); 40 (64.5%) dislocations occurred in defensive players, 12 (19.4%) were in offensive players; and 10 (16.1%) were during special teams play. Over half of the injuries (33/62, 53.2%) were sustained while tackling, and 4 (6.5%) patients required surgery. A total of 47 (75.8%) players who sustained this injury were able to return in the same season. For this group, the mean number of days lost in players treated conservatively (45/47) was 25.1 days (median, 23.0 days; range, 0.0-118 days), while that for players treated operatively (2/47) was 46.5 days (median, 46.5 days; range, 29-64 days). Mean return to play based on player position was 25.8 days for defensive players (n = 28; median, 21.5 days; range, 3.0-118 days), 24.1 days for offensive players (n = 11; median, 19 days; range, 2.0-59 days), and 25.6 days for special teams players (n = 8; median, 25.5 days; range, 0-44 days).
Conclusion: Elbow dislocations comprise less than a half of a percent of all injuries sustained in the NFL. Most injuries occur during the act of tackling, with the majority of injured athletes playing a defensive position. Players treated nonoperatively missed a mean of 25.1 days, whereas those managed operatively missed a mean of 46.5 days

fMRI Evidence for the Role of Recollection in Suppressing Misattribution Errors: The Illusory Truth Effect
Misattribution refers to the act of attributing a memory or idea to an incorrect source, such as successfully remembering a bit of information but linking it to an inappropriate person or time [Jacoby, L. L., Kelley, C., Brown, J., & Jasechko, J. (1989). Becoming famous overnight: Limits on the ability to avoid unconscious influences of the past. Cognitive studies have suggested that misattribution errors may occur in the absence of recollection for the details of an initial encounter with a stimulus, but little is known about the neural basis of this memory phenomenon. Here we used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine the hypothesized role of recollection in counteracting the illusory truth effect, a misattribution error whereby perceivers systematically overrate the truth of previously presented information. Imaging was conducted during the encoding and subsequent judgment of unfamiliar statements that were presented as true or false. Event-related fMRI analyses were conditionalized as a function of subsequent performance. Results demonstrated that encoding activation in regions previously associated with successful recollection—including the hippocampus and the ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (PFC)—correlated with the successful avoidance of misattribution errors, providing initial neuroimaging support for earlier cognitive accounts of misattribution.Psycholog
Multi-transition study and new detections of class II methanol masers
We have used the ATNF Mopra antenna and the SEST antenna to search in the
directions of several class II methanol maser sources for emission from six
methanol transitions in the frequency range 85-115 GHz. The transitions were
selected from excitation studies as potential maser candidates. Methanol
emission at one or more frequencies was detected from five of the maser
sources, as well as from Orion KL. Although the lines are weak, we find
evidence of maser origin for three new lines in G345.01+1.79, and possibly one
new line in G9.62+0.20.
The observations, together with published maser observations at other
frequencies, are compared with methanol maser modelling for G345.01+1.79 and
NGC6334F. We find that the majority of observations in both sources are
consistent with a warm dust (175 K) pumping model at hydrogen density ~10^6
cm^-3 and methanol column density ~5 x 10^17 cm^-2. The substantial differences
between the maser spectra in the two sources can be attributed to the geometry

Herschel Observations and Updated Spectral Energy Distributions of Five Sunlike Stars with Debris Disks
Observations from the Herschel Space Observatory have more than doubled the
number of wide debris disks orbiting Sunlike stars to include over 30 systems
with R > 100 AU. Here we present new Herschel PACS and re-analyzed Spitzer MIPS
photometry of five Sunlike stars with wide debris disks, from Kuiper belt size
to R > 150 AU. The disk surrounding HD 105211 is well resolved, with an angular
extent of >14" along the major axis, and the disks of HD 33636, HD 50554, and
HD 52265 are extended beyond the PACS PSF size (50% of energy enclosed within
radius 4.23"). HD 105211 also has a 24-micron infrared excess that was
previously overlooked because of a poorly constrained photospheric model.
Archival Spitzer IRS observations indicate that the disks have small grains of
minimum radius ~3 microns, though the minimum grain gradius is larger than the
radiation pressure blowout size in all systems. If modeled as
single-temperature blackbodies, the disk temperatures would all be <60 K. Our
radiative transfer models predict actual disk radii approximately twice the
radius of model blackbody disks. We find that the Herschel photometry traces
dust near the source population of planetesimals. The disk luminosities are in
the range 0.00002 <= L/L* <= 0.0002, consistent with collisions in icy
planetesimal belts stirred by Pluto-size dwarf planets.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. 18 pages, including 10 figures and 3

The Complex Wind Torus and Jets of PSR B1706-44
We report on Chandra ACIS imaging of the pulsar wind nebula (PWN) of the
young Vela-like PSR B1706-44, which shows the now common pattern of an
equatorial wind and polar jets. The structure is particularly rich, showing a
relativistically boosted termination shock, jets with strong confinement, a
surrounding radio/X-ray PWN and evidence for a quasi-static `bubble nebula'.
The structures trace the pulsar spin geometry and illuminate its possible
relation to SNR G343.1-2.3. We also obtain improved estimates of the pulsar
