    Estudo comparativo sobre burnout em professores de ensino regular e educação especial

    O objetivo do estudo é comparar os níveis de burnout em professores do ensino regular e educação especial em escolas públicas portuguesas que trabalham com alunos com Necessidades Educativas Especiais. A amostra é constituída por 7058 docentes de ensino regular e 451 de educação especial. O estudo dos resultados baseou-se numa análise de variância univariada. É o grupo de ensino regular que revela maiores níveis de realização pessoal e profissional e despersonalização. Neste grupo, são as mulheres que estão mais exaustas emocionalmente e os homens mais despersonalizados, sugerindo-se para este grupo a aplicação de um programa de prevenção de burnout

    Professional satisfaction plays an important role in the way the human being develops his work. This is a complex and subjective concept since the same situation can be a source of satisfaction for one individual and the cause for dissatisfaction for another (Lammy, 2015). Professional satisfaction in teaching is associated with important variables such as self-esteem, physical and mental well-being, motivation, commitment, involvement, stress, absenteeism, success and professional achievement (Viveiros, 2011). When a teacher displays feelings of dissatisfaction and malaise, such feelings affect not only his fellow teachers but also the students. Such disinvestment and lack of motivation contribute directly to students' lack of interest in the classroom and, consequently, to a lower quality of the teaching and learning processes (Resende, 2003). According to Silva (2012), professional satisfaction has direct effects on teachers’ motivation, which in turn always influences in some way the students’ academic success and compromises teachers’ willingness to their work, both individually and in teams. Professional satisfaction thus contributes to a pleasant school climate, facilitating planning and collaborative practices among teachers in order to achieve educational success

    Generalized commutation relations and Non linear momenta theories, a close relationship

    A revision of generalized commutation relations is performed, besides a description of Non linear momenta realization included in some DSR theories. It is shown that these propositions are closely related, specially we focus on Magueijo Smolin momenta and Kempf et al. and L.N. Chang generalized commutators.     Mean pulmonary arterial pressure after percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty predicts long-term adverse outcomes

    INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty (PMV) is an effective treatment option for mitral stenosis (MS), but its success is assessed on the basis of clinical and echocardiographic outcomes in studies with relatively short follow-up. We aimed to characterize a cohort of patients undergoing PMV with long-term follow-up and to determine independent predictors of post-PMV mitral re-intervention and event-free survival. METHODS: We studied 91 consecutive patients with MS who underwent PMV with a median clinical follow-up duration of 99 months. Two endpoints were considered: post-PMV mitral re-intervention (PMV or mitral surgery) and a composite clinical events endpoint including cardiovascular death, mitral valve re-intervention and hospital admission due to decompensated heart failure. We compared patients who required post-PMV mitral re-intervention with those who did not during follow-up. RESULTS: The study population included 83.5% females and mean age was 48.9±13.9 years. The 1-, 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-year rates of clinical event-free survival were 93.0±2.8%, 86.0±3.9%, 81.0±4.4%, 70.6±5.6%, and 68.4±5.8%, respectively. The 1-, 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-year rates of mitral re-intervention-free survival were 98.8±1.2%, 97.5±1.7%, 92.1±3.1%, 85.5±4.5%, and 85.5±4.5%, respectively. The median time to mitral re-intervention was 6.2 years. Patients who required mitral re-intervention during follow-up were younger (43.3 vs. 51.2 years, p=0.04) and had higher pre- and post-PMV mitral gradient (14.9 vs. 11.5mmHg, p=0.02 and 6.4 vs. 2.1mmHg, p<0.001) and higher post-PMV mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) (30.0 vs. 23.2mmHg, p=0.01). In a Cox proportional hazards model, mPAP ≥25mmHg was the sole predictor of both mitral re-intervention (HR 5.639 [1.246-25.528], p=0.025) and clinical events (HR 3.622 [1.070-12.260], p=0.039). CONCLUSION: In our population, immediate post-PMV mPAP was the sole predictor of post-PMV mitral intervention. These findings may help identify patients in need of closer post-PMV follow-up

    INTRODUCTION: Complications at the site of vascular access are the most common adverse events in cardiac catheterization. The use of small gauge catheters may reduce this risk and allow earlier ambulation, the main disadvantage according to some authors being inferior image quality. The aim of our study was to evaluate the safety and image quality of 4 French diagnostic catheters. METHODS: We performed a retrospective study of 1656 patients who underwent diagnostic cardiac catheterization with 4F catheters via the femoral artery between January 2006 and December 2007, and analyzed the complications during and immediately after the procedure. The quality of the films was assessed in 125 consecutive patients from this group, who were also followed up on average one month after hospital discharge. RESULTS: Cardiac catheterization with 4F catheters was technically possible in all cases. Patients were able to ambulate and were discharged from hospital on average four and six hours respectively after the procedure. Complications during or immediately after the procedure occurred in 5.8% of cases. In the subgroup with clinical follow-up, there was minor bleeding at the access site in 16.4% and hematoma in 14.4%; in the latter group, only one patient had major hematoma requiring therapeutic intervention. No other major complications were recorded and the patients resumed their daily activities on average 7 days after discharge. Image analysis revealed that most of the films were of good quality. Conclusion: The use of 4F catheters for diagnostic cardiac catheterization via the femoral approach enables rapid hemostasis and early ambulation, with a low incidence of complications at the access site. This type of catheter provides good quality images and there were no problems in their handling. 4F catheters are therefore a good option to consider for cardiac catheterization, especially when no therapeutic procedures are expected

Several mycoplasmas, such as the emergent human pathogen Mycoplasma genitalium, developed a complex polar structure, known as the terminal organelle (TO), responsible for a new type of cellular motility, which is involved in a variety of cell functions: cell division, adherence to host cells, and virulence. The TO cytoskeleton is organized as a multisubunit dynamic motor, including three main ultrastructures: the terminal button, the electrodense core, and the wheel complex. Here, we describe the interaction between MG200 and MG491, two of the main components of the TO wheel complex that connects the TO with the cell body and the cell membrane. The interaction between MG200 and MG491 has a KD in the 80 nM range, as determined by surface plasmon resonance. The interface between the two partners was confined to the >enriched in aromatic and glycine residues> (EAGR) box of MG200, previously described as a protein-protein interaction domain, and to a 25-residue-long peptide from the C-terminal region of MG491 by surface plasmon resonance and NMR spectroscopy studies. An atomic description of the MG200 EAGR box binding surface was also provided by solution NMR. An M. genitalium mutant lacking the MG491 segment corresponding to the peptide reveals specific alterations in cell motility and cell morphology indicating that the MG200-MG491 interaction plays a key role in the stability and functioning of the TO.This work was supported by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion Grants BFU2012-36827 (to I.     Photodegradation of sulfamethoxazole in environmental samples: the role of pH, organic matter and salinity

    Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) is the most representative antibiotic of the sulfonamides group used in both human and veterinary medicine, and thus frequently detected in water resources. This has caused special concern due to the pronounced toxicity and potential to foster bacterial resistance of this drug. Therefore, and to further understand the fate of SMX in the aquatic environment, its photodegradation under simulated solar radiation was here studied in ultrapure water and in different environmental samples, namely estuarine water, freshwater and wastewater. SMX underwent very fast photodegradation in ultrapure water, presenting a half-life time (t1/2) of 0.86 h. However, in environmental samples, the SMX photodegradation rate was much slower, with 5.4 h < t1/2 < 7.8 h. The main novelty of this work was to prove that pH, salinity and dissolved organic matter are determinant factors in the decrease of the SMX photodegradation rate observed in environmental samples and, thus, they will influence the SMX fate and persistence, potentially increasing the risks associated to the presence of this pollutant in the environment.publishe

    1-D Harmonic Oscillator in Snyder Space, the Classic and the Quantum

    The 1-D dimension harmonic oscillator in Snyder space is investigated in its classical and quantum versions. The classical trajectory is obtained and the semiclassical quantization from the phase space trajectories is discussed. In the meanwhile, an effective cutoff to high frequencies is found. The quantum version is developed and an equivalent usual harmonic oscillator is obtained through an effective mass and an effective frequency introduced in the model.
