Zur Politischen Ökonomie des »post-fordistiscben« Telekommunikationssektors: Der Fall USA

Der Aufsatz befaßt sich mit den Umbrüchen im Telekommunikationssektor der USA, die durch die Entflechtung des ehemaligen Fernmeldemonopols At&T zu Anfang der achtziger Jahre ausgelöst wurden. Die Erosion der unter dem Roosevelt'schen New Deal geschaffenen öffentlichen, sozialstaatlich orientierten Regulierung des Kommunikationswesens und die gegenwärtige Neustrukturierung der Branchenkonkurrenz werden im Kontext des Fordismustheorems interpretiert. In diesem Zusammenhang wird zum einen nach den Besonderheiten des »Nachkriegssozialpaktes« und der Politik der Gewerkschaften im US-Kommunikationswesen gefragt, zum anderen nach den Konsequenzen des Aujbrechens fordistischer Regulationsstrukturen für Lohnabhängige und Gewerkschaften im »Zukunftssektor« Telekommunikation

»Vernetzte Produktion« und »post-fordistische« Reproduktion: Theoretische Überlegungen am Beispiel »Silicon Valley«

The article reviews recent debates on production networks in political economy and labor sociology. The argument draws upon the findings of an extended empirical study of production strategies, supplier networks, and labor relations in the computer industry of California's »Silicon Valley«. The paper emphasizes the centrality of manufacturing work in today's information technology industry and discusses the implications of the recent restructuring of industry organization and work in this sector for critical approaches as developed in U.S. industrial geography, theories of the »new international division of labor«, European and German industrial sociology, and race and gender studies. A theoretical framework for an integrated analysis of the political economy of »post-fordist« production networks is developed from the context of French regulation theory

Regulierungskrise im Telekommunikationssektor in der BRD

Im Folgenden soll von jenen Tendenzen zu einer umfassenden »Entstaatlichung« des Telekommunikationswesens die Rede sein, die in anderen kapitalistischen Industrieländern unter dem Etikett »Deregulierung« für Schlagzeilen sorgen - so die Entflechtung der Fernmeldemonopolgesellschaft AT & Tin den USA, die Privatisierung der britischen Fernmeldebehörde »British Telecom« oder die Teilprivatisierung von »Nippon Telephone and Telegraph« in Japan. Besonders in den USA und Großbritannien sind hier unter den Vorzeichen neo-konservativer Marktideologie Veränderungen in den ökonomisch-politischen Rahmenbedingungen der Entwicklung der Telekommunikation geschaffen worden, die nicht nur zu enormen Arbeitsplatzverlusten in den traditionell gesicherten Beschäftigungsverhältnissen der »communication workers« geführt haben, sondern auch gewerkschaftliche Einflußmöglichkeiten auf die übergreifende Technikentwicklung im Bereich der Informations- und Kommunikations-(IUK-)Netze nahezu gänzlich beseitigen..

Silicon Valley: Vernetzte Produktion, Industriearbeit und soziale Bewegungen im Detroit der „New Economy“

The article explores the new patterns of manufacturing organization and manufacturing work underlying the much-heralded information technology industry of California´s Silicon Valley. From a theoretical approach based on French regulation theory, critical U.S. industrial geography, and German industrial sociology the paper argues that the Silicon Valley of the 1990s has become a place of prime importance for the development of new manufacturing arrangements in the information technology industry. The article discusses the implications for Silicon Valley´s manufacturing workforce, which is mainly made up of women and non-white immigrants, and the challenges for the labor movement

This article focuses on China's modern core manufacturing industries (i.e. steel, chemical, auto, electronics, and textile and garment); it explores regimes of production in major corporations and new forms of labour-management cooperation, the growing inequality and fragmentation of labour policies within the modern sectors of the Chinese economy, consequences for further reform regarding labour standards, collective bargaining, and workers' participation."
