    Προσπελασιμότητα των ακαδημαϊκων ιδρυμάτων Αθήνας - Πειραιά, προβλήματα και προτάσεις

    Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι να εξετάσει τις συνθήκες προσπελασιμότητας των ακαδημαϊκών ιδρυμάτων της Αθήνας και του Πειραιά, να εντοπίσει τα υφιστάμενα προβλήματα της, και να προτείνει λύσεις αντιμετώπισής τους. Αρχικά παρουσιάζεται ο σκελετός της εργασίας και η μεθοδολογία εκπόνησης της. Στη συνέχεια αποτυπώνεται η υπάρχουσα κατάσταση, δηλαδή η καταγραφή των μέσων πρόσβασης, από τα οποία εξυπηρετείται κάθε ακαδημαϊκό ίδρυμα, η επιλογή αυτών από τα μέλη των ιδρυμάτων και οι συνθήκες που επηρεάζουν την επιλογή τους. Τα υπάρχοντα μέσα πρόσβασης κατά την σειρά επιλογής τους είναι: Τα μέσα συλλογικής μεταφοράς, το ιδιωτικής χρήσης αυτοκίνητο, το περπάτημα, τα μηχανοκίνητα δίκυκλα και το ποδήλατο. Το ποσοστό χρήσης του κάθε μέσου μεταβάλλεται αναλόγως της θέσης του ακαδημαϊκού ιδρύματος και της επαρκούς εξυπηρέτησής του από τα μέσα συλλογικής μεταφοράς, της δυνατότητας στάθμευσης του ιδιωτικής χρήσης αυτοκινήτου και τέλος της δυνατότητας ευχερούς προσπέλασης του ιδρύματος με το ποδήλατο ή τα πόδια. Ο εντοπισμός των προβλημάτων επιτεύχθηκε με επιτόπια έρευνα και δειγματοληπτική ερώτηση μελών των ιδρυμάτων. Διαπιστώνεται ότι αρκετά από αυτά είναι κοινά για όλα τα ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα και οφείλονται κυρίως σε ανεπάρκειες των μέσων συλλογικής μεταφοράς και στο υποβαθμισμένο αστικό περιβάλλον των ιδρυμάτων. Για την αντιμετώπισή τους προτείνονται λύσεις πολιτικών βιώσιμης κινητικότητας και βελτίωσης των παρεχόμενων υπηρεσιών από τα μέσα συλλογικής μεταφοράς. Τέλος παρουσιάζονται τα διαπιστωθέντα ιδιαίτερα προβλήματα εκάστου των κυριότερων ακαδημαϊκών ιδρυμάτων και προτείνονται εξειδικευμένες λύσεις αυτών.The aim of this diplomatic work is to examine the conditions of accessibility of the academic institutions of Athens and Piraeus, to locate the existing problems and propose a set of solutions for their confrontation. Initially, the basic structure of work and its elaborate methodology are presented. Afterwards, the present situation is developed, including the recording of means of access, by which each academic institution is served, the choice of these ones from the members of institutions as well as the conditions that influence their choice. The contemporary means of transportation according to the preferences’ order are the following ones: The means of public transport, the passenger car assigned for private use, the process of walking, the motorcycles and the bicycle. The rate of usage of each means is altered in proportion to the situation of each academic institution and its sufficient service by the means of public transport, the possibility of vehicles’ parking and finally the possibility of a convenient access to the university either by bicycle or on foot. The localization of problems was achieved through a research and a sampling questionnaire towards the institutions’ members. It is realized that most of the above problems are common ones to every academic institution and the main causes of their existence are based on the insufficiencies of means of public transport and the institutions’ downgraded urban environment. A variety of solutions on policies of sustainable mobility and the improvement of provided services are proposed as a means of confrontation through the means of public transport. Finally, the aforementioned particular problems of the most renowned academic institutions are presented and a range of specialized solutions are proposed.Βικτωρία Α. Κύρκο

This has tended to reinforce assumptions that a form of pre-determined checklist is the most appropriate solution for a wide range of circumstances.     Health-related family quality of life when a child or young person has a disability

Kyrkou This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.Parents of a child or young person with disability face not only the same challenges as parents of typically developing children and young people, but also the extra challenges of supporting the child or young person with disability in such a way as to maximise both their own quality of life (QOL) and family quality of life (FQOL) for all family members. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) encompasses not only physical health but also mental and emotional health, equally important for FQOL. This article builds on information from previous publications, and illustrates relevant issues and the innovative methods parents, caregivers, and professionals have devised to enhance the HRQOL for children and young people with disability, and to improve FQOL. The author draws upon her personal lived experiences of having two daughters, the eldest an adult with disability, as well as being the medical consultant and manager of a newly created health unit tasked with supporting students with disability, who often have high health needs, in educational settings. The health conditions selected are those that have a major impact, not only on the young person with disability but also on family members. Vignettes, all deidentified true stories, will be included to illustrate the multiple issues faced by children and young people with disability, their families and extended families, and treating clinicians. The sibling relationship is not intrinsically positive or negative, but it is a dynamic and critical bond; from it children can learn to understand and advocate for themselves and each other in the context of the disability. The sibling relationship is a lifelong one. Nurturing it in the early stages of development will not only support family quality of life, but will set the foundation for healthy adult sibling relationships that can create positive outcomes for all members of the family. The important aspects of nurturing the sibling relationship are considered from the viewpoint of both sibling and parent. The assumptions that inform sibling relationships are discussed, and suggestions for nurturing them are provided

    Η ρύθμιση των εκπαιδευτικών ιδρυμάτων εξακολουθεί να είναι εξέχον ζήτημα στην πολιτική ατζέντα. Δεδομένης της εύλογης διαφωνίας επί των περιεκτικών δογμάτων, αυτή η διπλωματική εργασία εξετάζει εάν το φιλελεύθερο κράτος που σέβεται τον πλουραλισμό των περιεκτικών δογμάτων μπορεί αιτιολογημένα να υιοθετήσει συγκεκριμένους εκπαιδευτικούς στόχους. Στόχος της εργασίας είναι να εξετασθεί η συμβατότητα της φιλελεύθερης εκπαιδευτικής πολιτικής με την αρχή της ουδετερότητας του κράτους καθώς και οι επιπτώσεις του πολιτικού και του περιεκτικού φιλελευθερισμού στην εκπαιδευτική πολιτική. Για το σκοπό αυτό, εξετάζονται δύο διακριτοί εκπαιδευτικοί στόχοι, η εκπαίδευση που στοχεύει στην προώθηση του αγαθού της αυτονομίας και η πολιτική εκπαίδευση. Οι θεωρίες των S. Wall, A. Gutmann, S. Macedo και I. MacMullen χρησιμοποιούνται για να αποσαφηνιστούν οι ανωτέρω εκπαιδευτικοί στόχοι. Εφόσον ένας από τους στόχους της εργασίας είναι να εξεταστεί πώς το φιλελεύθερο κράτος μπορεί να απαντήσει στους γονείς που δεν αποδέχονται τις βασικές προκείμενές του, ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται στον τρόπο με τον οποίο καθεμιά από αυτές τις θεωρίες αντιμετωπίζει τις έννοιες του σεβασμού, του εξαναγκασμού και της ανεκτικότητας. Το κυρίαρχο ερώτημα είναι εάν η αξία της αυτονομίας αναγκαστικά και αναπόφευκτα προϋποτίθεται σε ένα φιλελεύθερο καθεστώς και εάν ναι, εάν το φιλελεύθερο κράτος πρέπει να παραμείνει ουδέτερο στην διαφωνία σχετικά με την αξία του κριτικού αναστοχασμού για την αντίληψη του αγαθού.Questions about the regulation of educational institutions remain prominent in the political agenda. Given the fact of reasonable disagreement, this dissertation examines the question of whether certain educational goals can justifiably be adopted in a liberal state that respects the plurality of comprehensive doctrines. The objective is to examine the compatibility of liberal education policy with the neutrality principle and the implications of political and comprehensive liberalism for education policy. To this end, two distinct educational goals are examined, namely autonomy-promoting education and civic education. The theories of S. Wall, A. Gutmann, S. Macedo and I. MacMullen are used to illuminate these goals. Since one of the objectives is to examine how the liberal state may respond to parents that don't accept its basic premises, significant weight is given to the way each of these theories address the notions of respect, coercion and toleration. The overarching question is whether the value of autonomy necessarily and unavoidably underpins the principles of a liberal regime, and if so, whether the liberal state has to remain neutral in the controversy about the value of critical reflection on one’s conception of the good

    Design principles governing the development of theranostic anticancer agents and their nanoformulations with photoacoustic properties

    The unmet need to develop novel approaches for cancer diagnosis and treatment has led to the evolution of theranostic agents, which usually include, in addition to the anticancer drug, an imaging agent based mostly on fluorescent agents. Over the past few years, a non-invasive photoacoustic imaging modality has been effectively integrated into theranostic agents. Herein, we shed light on the design principles governing the development of theranostic agents with photoacoustic properties, which can be formulated into nanocarriers to enhance their potency. Specifically, we provide an extensive analysis of their individual constituents including the imaging dyes, drugs, linkers, targeting moieties, and their formulation into nanocarriers. Along these lines, we present numerous relevant paradigms. Finally, we discuss the clinical relevance of the specific strategy, as also the limitations and future perspectives, and through this review, we envisage paving the way for the development of theranostic agents endowed with photoacoustic properties as effective anticancer medicines
