FPT HCM University Parental Attitudes and Behavior Towards their Children's ``Coming Out''

The research team carried out a study of parental’ attitudes and behaviors towards their children’s ”coming-out” and gender identity. The study was conducted in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam with a group of respondents who are parents of the FPT students. The study was conducted through quantitative methods using questionnaires modified from previous qualitative studies of the researchers. The results show that the group of respondents had low rates of shock or devastation because of their children’s sexual orientation, but they still had a worried attitude. While their behavior is largely non-violent towards their children, they still try to encourage their children to conform to the biological sex they were born with. Parents are also more inclined to accept their children’s sexual orientation if society and its laws accept it. The research results have and will contribute to the implementation of many campaigns and activities related to the topic of LGBT parents and children. This study aims to determine the factors from social media and crowd psychology among individuals, a group, or communities on social networks that affect the attitudes of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) students at FPT University in Ho Chi Minh City toward coming out to their parents. The research desires to determine whether there is any difference in terms of year of admission, major, and the frequency of social media use. The research method is quantitative research (survey - using questionnaire). The sample size of the survey is 154 LGBT students; All respondents are studying at FPT University Ho Chi Minh City. The results showed that searching for information and digital coming out are the two factors that have the most substantial impact on the attitudes of LGBT students at FPT University in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) towards disclosing their sexual orientation to their parents

Anomalous magnetic moment of muon in 3-3-1 models

A contribution from new gauge bosons in the SU(3)C⊗SU(3)L⊗U(1)N{SU}(3)_C\otimes {SU}(3)_L \otimes {U}(1)_N (3 - 3 - 1) models to the anomalous magnetic moments of the muon is calculated and numerically estimated. In the minimal 3 - 3 - 1 model, a lower bound on the bilepton mass at a value of 167 GeV is derived. For an expected precision(∌4×10−10\sim 4\times 10^{-10}) of the BNL measurements the possible lower bounds on masses of the bileptons in the minimal version and in the version with right-handed neutrinos are around 940 GeV and 250 GeV, respectively.Comment: Latex, 11 pages, 4 figures, axodraw.sty used. Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) has the potential to replace traditional plastics and limit environmental pollution caused by plastic waste. This study combined wastewater treatment with PHB production to reduce costs. Bacteria capable of synthesizing PHB were isolated from paper mill wastewater and identified using Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization–Time of Flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry and 16S rRNA gene analysis. Bacillus pumilus NMG5 strain was found to have a good yield in modified Nutrient Broth culture, reaching 42.28% of dry biomass. The PHB product was analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The bacterial strain was also tested for its ability to treat paper mill wastewater, and it showed impressive results in terms of biochemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen, and total phosphorus, with efficiencies of 95.93%, 79.36%, and 83.55%, respectively. The study found that wastewater treatment combined with PHB production was a promising solution to reduce costs and limit environmental pollution. The bacterial strain B. pumilus NMG5 had a high yield of PHB, and the PHB product was of high quality, as confirmed by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the bacterial strain showed impressive results in treating paper mill wastewater with high COD, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus efficiencies. These results suggest that this harmless bacterium could be used in paper mill wastewater treatment systems to produce PHB, providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution

Antibacterial Shoe Insole-Coated CuO-ZnO Nanocomposite Synthesized by the Sol-Gel Technique

In this study, CuO-ZnO composite was synthesized via the sol-gel method using oxalic acid to form the medium complex and its applications in antibacterial have been conducted with B. cereus, E. coli, S. aureus, Salmonella, and P. aeruginosa. Then, nanopowder of CuO-ZnO was coated on shoe insoles and their antibacterial effect with S. aureus was tested. The nanocomposite products were characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, and UV-Vis. The results showed that the CuO-ZnO composite has the average particle size in a range of 20-50 nm, the point of zero charge of 7.8, and the bandgap of 1.7 eV. XPS result shows the composite structure with Cu2+ in the product. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of CuO-ZnO nanocomposite was 0.313 mg·mL-1 for S. aureus and Samonella, 0.625 mg·mL-1 for E. coli, and 5 mg·mL-1 for B. cereus and P. aeruginosa. The shoe insoles coated with 0.35 wt.% of CuO-ZnO nanocomposite also had high antibacterial activity against S. aureus, and this antibacterial nanocomposite was implanted durably on the surface of the shoe insoles
