Extensions of C*-dynamical systems to systems with complete transfer operators

Starting from an arbitrary endomorphism $\alpha$ of a unital C*-algebra $A$ we construct a bigger C*-algebra $B$ and extend $\alpha$ onto $B$ in such a way that the extended endomorphism $\alpha$ has a unital kernel and a hereditary range, i.e. there exists a unique non-degenerate transfer operator for $(B,\alpha)$, called the complete transfer operator. The pair $(B,\alpha)$ is universal with respect to a suitable notion of a covariant representation and depends on a choice of an ideal in $A$. Glimpses of the Octonions and Quaternions History and Todays Applications in Quantum Physics

Before we dive into the accessibility stream of nowadays indicatory applications of octonions to computer and other sciences and to quantum physics let us focus for a while on the crucially relevant events for todays revival on interest to nonassociativity. Our reflections keep wandering back to the $Brahmagupta$ $Fibonacc$ two square identity and then via the $Euler$ four square identity up to the $Degen$ $Ggraves$ $Cayley$ eight square identity. These glimpses of history incline and invite us to retell the story on how about one month after quaternions have been carved on the $Broughamian$ bridge octonions were discovered by $John$ $Thomas$ $Ggraves$, jurist and mathematician, a friend of $William$ $Rowan$ $Hamilton$. As for today we just mention en passant quaternionic and octonionic quantum mechanics, generalization of $Cauchy$ $Riemann$ equations for octonions and triality principle and $G_2$ group in spinor language in a descriptive way in order not to daunt non specialists. Relation to finite geometries is recalled and the links to the 7stones of seven sphere, seven imaginary octonions units in out of the $Plato$ cave reality applications are appointed . Immunoexpression of constitutive and inducible cyclo-oxygenase isoforms in the rat foetal and maternal digestive tract

Cyclo-oxygenase (COX), which catalyses the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin endoperoxide and prostanoids, is widely expressed in mammalian organs. The aim of the study was to evaluate the immunoexpression of the constitutive and inducible cyclo-oxygenase isoforms (COX-1 and COX-2 respectively) in the oesophagus, stomach and the small and large bowels of untreated rat dams and foetuses on gestational day 21. The localisation of the COX isoforms was similar in the maternal and foetal organs, although the intensity of the reaction for COX-2 was stronger in the foetuses. Cytoplasmic COX-1 immunostaining was found in myocytes of the muscularis propria, muscularis mucosae and the blood vessels. It was also positive in the endothelial cells, scattered stromal cells of the lamina propria and the ganglion cells of the nerve plexus in the bowels. Apart from the keratinised layer, a strong reaction was revealed in the stratified squamous epithelium of the oesophagus and forestomach. Negative or weakly positive staining was found in the mucus-secreting cells covering the surface, gastric pits and pyloric glands, as well as in the parietal cells and the chief cells. Weakly positive COX-1 immunostaining was observed in epithelial cells of the small intestine crypts, but in some cases enterocytes and goblet cells covering villi were also positive. In the colonic mucosa weak COX-1 staining was typical of the absorptive, and goblet cells. The COX-2 immunostaining was nuclear and/or cytoplasmic. An inconsistent positive reaction was seen in the muscle of the muscularis mucosae, muscularis propria and the blood vessels. Positive staining was also found in scattered stromal cells of the lamina propria and adventitia and the ganglion cells. Weak nuclear staining was found in the stratified squamous epithelium of the oesophagus and forestomach. Unlike the strong foetal reactivity in the epithelial cells of the glandular stomach, a negative or weakly positive reaction was seen in the maternal parietal and/or mucous-secreting surface stomach cells. Some epithelial cells of the crypts both in the small and large bowel were also COX-2 positive. In conclusion, constitutive and inducible COX isoforms were detected in the digestive tract of pregnant female and in foetuses. COX-1 was the predominant isoform in both the adult and foetal organs. Postglacial expansion of the arctic keystone copepod calanus glacialis

Calanus glacialis, a major contributor to zooplankton biomass in the Arctic shelf seas, is a key link between primary production and higher trophic levels that may be sensitive to climate warming. The aim of this study was to explore genetic variation in contemporary populations of this species to infer possible changes during the Quaternary period, and to assess its population structure in both space and time. Calanus glacialis was sampled in the fjords of Spitsbergen (Hornsund and Kongsfjorden) in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2012. The sequence of a mitochondrial marker, belonging to the ND5 gene, selected for the study was 1249 base pairs long and distinguished 75 unique haplotypes among 140 individuals that formed three main clades. There was no detectable pattern in the distribution of haplotypes by geographic distance or over time. Analiza falkowa efektywnym narzędziem diagnostyki lin kompaktowanych

This study explores the potential application of the wavelet analysis to the assessment of the working condition of compact ropes (qualitative assessment). The assessment procedure is a key aspect in the decision- making during the non-destructive testing. This is the first study on diagnostics of the new-design ropes, summarising the results of the analysis of signals from novel compact ropes, based on the defect models. Selection of the wavelet type and of the decomposition detail is a key element of the diagnostic procedure. A major step in the assessment procedure involves the replicas of the rope’s surface. The data provided in this paper will be useful in developing new specialist equipment for magnetic inspection of compact ropes.W artykule przedstawiono możliwości oceny stanu technicznego (analiza jakościowa) lin kompaktowanych przy zastosowaniu analizy falkowej, która stanowi ważny element wspomagający proces decyzyjny w trakcie badań nieniszczących. Jest to pierwsza informacja związana z problematyką diagnozowania lin nowej konstrukcji. Omówiono w niej wyniki analizy sygnału zarejestrowanego na nowej linie kompaktowanej z zamodelowanymi uszkodzeniami. Dobór typu falki i wybór detalu dekompozycji niosącego informację o symptomach zużycia jak również dobór częstotliwości rejestracji jest ważnym elementem procesu diagnostycznego. Pomocnym elementem oceny stanu technicznego stały się repliki z powierzchni badanej liny. Operation and maintenance of cranes - catastrophic accidents

W artykule zawarto informacje o rezultatach badań liny nośnej żurawia budowlanego, która uległa zerwaniu w trakcie zdarzenia typu katastroficznego. Na podstawie badań magnetycznych, badań niszczących wybranych odcinków liny oraz badań metalograficznych w połączeniu z eksperymentem procesowym określono przyczyny zerwania się liny. Zmiana plastycznych liny, usytuowanie zblocza w trakcie zdarzenia, pamięć kształtu itp. pozwoliło na zrekonstruowanie zdarzenia.The paper summarizes the results of tests of a crane after an accident on a construction site. Testing is done by destructive, non-destructive and metallographic methods supported by simulations performed on a real object. The chief goal of the experts' team is to find the direct cause of the rope breaking and indicating the improper operation and maintenance elements. Reduction of plastic properties of wires in a hoisting rope and the shape memory behavior of the rope under the service load help to establish the direct cause of rope failure. The case study presented in the paper should be a warning to operators of cranes and other ropeway installations

Strategy of shaping the CNG prices level based on the break-even analysis of the gas distributor and the vehicles fleet operator

Spośród paliw alternatywnych gaz ziemny ma największy potencjał rynkowy, pozwalający zmniejszyć wysoki stopień uzależnienia sektora transportowego od ropy naftowej oraz ograniczyć szkodliwość jego oddziaływania na środowisko. W artykule przedstawiono perspektywy rozwoju rynku paliw alternatywnych - w tym rynku CNG w Polsce. Omawiając ekonomiczne aspekty substytucji paliw tradycyjnych alternatywnymi, autorzy przeprowadzają analizę rentowności granicznej inwestycji - budowy stacji sprężania oraz wymiany części floty pojazdów. Na tej podstawie próbują oszacować cenę CNG zapewniającą rozwój rynku NGV przy spełnieniu warunku efektywności inwestycji.
