    Information Seeking Behavior and Utilization of Social Media for Agricultural Information by Farmers of Prayagraj District of Uttar Pradesh

    Social media is becoming very important implement in agriculture to edge people to people due to its capacity to connect with farmers and agribusiness people around the globe over hug geographical distances. At present time there are 2.078 billion social media user in the world. The study was conducting in purposely selected Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh of also purposely two selecting blocks two villages from each block. Selected for the study   Thus, in all, four villages thirty farmers were selected randomly. Thus, total 120 respondents were selected randomly and interviewed with the help of well semi structured schedule. The statistical tools/technique was used to computing the data and information. Descriptive research design was followed for the analysis. Maximum number respondents communicate through social media and WhatsApp is highly exposed and adopted by the respondents in the study area. Smart phones, computer usage and internet should be promoted among stakeholders (esp. farmers).majority of the respondents information getting through Kisan SMS Portal. The highest utilization level of the respondents about social media programme was WhatsApp with a weighted mean score of 1.58 and it was ranked first, followed by the Kisan SMS Portal a weighted mean score was 1.43 with ranked was second, while YouTube was ranked third and so on.     Single-particle and collective excitations in quantum wires made up of vertically stacked quantum dots: Zero magnetic field

    We report on the theoretical investigation of the elementary electronic excitations in a quantum wire made up of vertically stacked self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots. The length scales (of a few nanometers) involved in the experimental setups prompt us to consider an infinitely periodic system of two-dimensionally confined (InAs) quantum dot layers separated by GaAs spacers. The the Bloch functions and the Hermite functions together characterize the whole system. We then make use of the Bohm-Pines' (full) random-phase approximation in order to derive a general nonlocal, dynamic dielectric function. Thus developed theoretical framework is then specified to work within a (lowest miniband and) two-subband model that enables us to scrutinize the single-particle as well as collective responses of the system. We compute and discuss the behavior of the eigenfunctions, band-widths, density of states, Fermi energy, single-particle and collective excitations, and finally size up the importance of studying the inverse dielectric function in relation with the quantum transport phenomena. It is remarkable to notice how the variation in the barrier- and well-widths can allow us to tailor the excitation spectrum in the desired energy range. Given the advantage of the vertically stacked quantum dots over the planar ones and the foreseen applications in the single-electron devices and in the quantum computation, it is quite interesting and important to explore the electronic, optical, and transport phenomena in such systems

    Effect of Synthetic Truncated Apolipoprotein C-I Peptide on Plasma Lipoprotein Cholesterol in Nonhuman Primates

    The present studies were conducted to determine whether a synthetic truncated apoC-I peptide that inhibits CETP activity in baboons would raise plasma HDL cholesterol levels in nonhuman primates with low HDL levels. We used 2 cynomolgus monkeys and 3 baboons fed a cholesterol- and fat-enriched diet. In cynomolgus monkeys, we injected synthetic truncated apoC-I inhibitor peptide at a dose of 20 mg/kg and, in baboons, at doses of 10, 15, and 20 mg/kg at weekly intervals. Blood samples were collected 3 times a week and VLDL + LDL and HDL cholesterol concentrations were measured. In cynomolgus monkeys, administration of the inhibitor peptide caused a rapid decrease in VLDL + LDL cholesterol concentrations (30%–60%) and an increase in HDL cholesterol concentrations (10%–20%). VLDL + LDL cholesterol concentrations returned to baseline levels in approximately 15 days. In baboons, administration of the synthetic inhibitor peptide caused a decrease in VLDL + LDL cholesterol (20%–60%) and an increase in HDL cholesterol (10%–20%). VLDL + LDL cholesterol returned to baseline levels by day 21, whereas HDL cholesterol concentrations remained elevated for up to 26 days. ApoA-I concentrations increased, whereas apoE and triglyceride concentrations decreased. Subcutaneous and intravenous administrations of the inhibitor peptide had similar effects on LDL and HDL cholesterol concentrations. There was no change in body weight, food consumption, or plasma IgG levels of any baboon during the study. These studies suggest that the truncated apoC-I peptide can be used to raise HDL in humans

    Residual effect of nitrogen levels and weed control methods on growth, yield and economics of wheat grown after rice

    A field experiment was laid out in split plot design on residual effect of treatments comprising three nitrogen levels viz. N75 (N1), N100 (N2) and N125 (N3) in main-plot treatments and seven weed control treatments viz. (W1-butachlor + 1 Hand Weeding, W2-butachlor + 2 Mechanical Weeding, W3-butachlor + 2,4-D, W4-bispyribac sodium, W5-butachlor + bispyribac sodium, W6-HW-2, W7- control) as sub-plot treatments conducted during 2015-16 and 2016-17 at the Rajaula Agriculture Farm, MGCGVV, Satna (M.P.) to study the residual effect of N-levels and weed control methods on growth, yield and economics of wheat grown after rice. In case of succeeding wheat, the residual 125 kg N/ha performed the best with respect to growth, yield-attributes with the result 31.11 q/ha grain yield and Rs.33509/ha income. While, under sub plot treatments, Hand weedings two times were recorded significant grain yield (28.66 q/ha) and straw yield (38.17 q/ha) at (P <0.05) over control. However it was found non-significant different and also noticed higher over rest treatments. In this succession, Butachlor + 2, 4-D (0.80 kg/ha) was higher but in second position and similar trend was observed in successive way with rest of treatments

    A peculiar multi-wavelength flare in the Blazar 3C 454.3

    The blazar 3C454.3 exhibited a strong flare seen in gamma-rays, X-rays, and optical/NIR bands during 3--12 December 2009. Emission in the V and J bands rose more gradually than did the gamma-rays and soft X-rays, though all peaked at nearly the same time. Optical polarization measurements showed dramatic changes during the flare, with a strong anti-correlation between optical flux and degree of polarization (which rose from ~ 3% to ~ 20%) during the declining phase of the flare. The flare was accompanied by large rapid swings in polarization angle of ~ 170 degree. This combination of behaviors appear to be unique. We have cm-band radio data during the same period but they show no correlation with variations at higher frequencies. Such peculiar behavior may be explained using jet models incorporating fully relativistic effects with a dominant source region moving along a helical path or by a shock-in-jet model incorporating three-dimensional radiation transfer if there is a dominant helical magnetic field. We find that spectral energy distributions at different times during the flare can be fit using modified one-zone models where only the magnetic field strength and particle break frequencies and normalizations need change. An optical spectrum taken at nearly the same time provides an estimate for the central black hole mass of ~ 2.3 * 10^9 M_sun. We also consider two weaker flares seen during the 200\sim 200 d span over which multi-band data are available.     DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION, BRIDGE DECK LINEARITY DEFORMATION AND DECK THICKNESS MEASUREMENT USING TERRESTRIAL LASER SCANNER (TLS) AND CLOSE RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRY (CRP)

    Bridges are one of the vital and valuable engineer structure from decades. As they play a major role in the road transportation sector. Few old bridges lacks its documents about the measurements of the structure. The study has been carried out on three different types of bridges like Truss, Beam and Cable bridges. Documenting these bridges can be utilised to reconstruct or renovate the bridge in case of any disaster or damage. 3D documentation is made from the point cloud Dataset acquired from Terrestrial Laser Scanner – TLS (Riegl VZ 400) and Close Range photogrammetry – CRP (Nikon DSLR 5300). TLS and CRP point cloud are merged together to increase the density of points. Over the duration of time the bridge gets older and due to the load on the bridge deck, linearity in the deck effects and this linearity deformation measurement is important to know the present deformation in the deck. To know exactly at which part there is more linearity deformation, deflection is calculated at sample intervals between the present linearity conditions of the deck to the idle linearity conditions of the deck. The bridge deck thickness is also measured with the point cloud dataset. A slice is cut through the deck of point cloud dataset, the difference between the top and bottom layer of the deck gives us the thickness of the deck including the road. This thickness can be used to measure when a new deck layer is constructed or during filling up of any potholes.
