A new automata for parsing semi-bracketed contextual grammars

    Get PDF
Bracketed and fully bracketed contextual grammars were introduced to bring the concept of tree structure to the strings by associating a pair of parentheses to the adjoined contexts in the derivation. But these grammars fail to generate the basic non-context free languages thus unable to provide a syntactical representation to natural languages. To overcome this problem, a new variant called semi-bracketed contextual grammar was introduced recently, where the selectors can also be non-minimally Dyck covered strings. The membership problem for the new variant is left unsolved. In this paper, we propose a parsing algorithm (for non-projected strings) of maximal semi-bracketed contextual grammars. In this process, we introduce a new automaton called k-queue Self Modifying Weighted Automata (k-quSMWA)

Novel exploiting to the understanding of conventional medicine was followed by the findings of many unique secondary metabolites and its biological property and is highly required for treating of many endemic diseases. The plants have been a long background in ethno pharmacological knowledge for treatment of endemic and non-endemic diseases. Such plants are traditionally used in different form of paste, extraction and powder to treat seasonal diseases. Nowadays main uses of some medicinal plants have been a great deal with cure and control various chronic diseases such as cancer, AIDS, hepatitis, neurogenic disorders and acute kidney diseases. Cancer is molecular dysfunction and disarrangement in DNA base pairs it leads to change the human physiological and biochemical behavior of the system. Apoptotic mechanisms are regulating by two distinct pathways in which basic creeds perform in common to all eukaryotes. The key components in apoptosis especially mitochondrial intracellular organelles are identified (DNA, protein and ATP, Ca2+). These components control the next cellular binder step and participate in effecting cell suicide mechanisms. The diverse aspects of mitochondria involved in apoptosis include dealing with other proceedings such as release of protein or enzymes to effective for cell death. In these mechanism plants and related natural products using alternative therapeutic management, very less toxicity and cost benefits. Plant extracts and its biomass has revealed the existing of various pharmacologically active compounds like steroids, polyphenols, polysaccharides, saponins, alkaloids, tannins and terpenoids. The reliable natural products are acting as high sources for anticancer drugs. The natural derived compounds are the prolongation of life span of the zeolites and decrease of malignancy cell formation in the cellular system

Transmission of pathogens present in the indoor air can occur through aerosols. This study evaluated the efficacy of an evaporated mix of essential oils to reduce the numbers of culturable aerosolized coronavirus, bacterium and fungus. The essential oil-containing gel was allowed to vaporize inside a glass chamber for 10 or 20 min. Aerosols of a surrogate of SARS-CoV-2, murine hepatitis coronavirus MHV-1, Escherichia coli or Aspergillus flavus spores were produced using a colli-sion nebuliser and passed through the essential oil vapours, then collected on a six-stage Andersen sampler. The six-stages of the impact sampler capture aerosols in sizes ranging from 7 to 0.65 µm. The number of culturable microbes present in the aerosols collected in the different stages were enumerated and compared to the number of culturable microbes in control microbial aerosols that were not exposed to the evaporated essential oils. After 10 and 20 min evaporation, the essential oils reduced the numbers of culturable aerosolized coronavirus by 48% (log10 reduction = 0.3; p = 0.002 vs. control) and 53% (log10 reduction = 0.3; p = 0.001 vs. control), respectively. The essential oils vaporised for 10 min, reduced the number of viable E. coli by 51% (log10 reduction = 0.3; p = 0.032 vs. control). The Aspergillus flavus spores were mostly observed in the larger aerosols (7.00 µm to 2.10 µm) and the essential oils vaporised for 10 min reduced the number of viable spores by 72% (log10 reduction = 0.6; p = 0.008 vs. control). The vapours produced by a gel containing naturally occurring essential oils were able to significantly reduce the viable numbers of aerosolized coronavirus, bacteria and fungal spores. The antimicrobial gel containing the essential oils may be able to reduce aerosol transmission of microbes when used in domestic and workplace settings

PROTEUS SYNDROME: NEED FOR PATIENT CENTRIC THERAPY

    Get PDF
Proteus syndrome (PS) is a hamartomatous disorder with multisystem involvement that results from mutation in the AKT1gene. Since the symptoms and severity of PS are unique to each patient, diagnosis and treatment become hard for the physician. This article is concentrated upon the identification and recognition of specific characteristics of the disease, pathophysiology, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and the necessity of advanced diagnosis, effective generalized and personalized therapy, as well as the requirement of new drugs for the management of PS. Detailed studies on the PS and evidence from the case reports revealed the requirement of intensive care, accurate diagnosis, and an effective treatment for each patient preferably patient-centric drug delivery due to the high degree of variation in the symptoms and clinical features among patients

Supplemental Oxygen Protects Heart Against Acute Myocardial Infarction

    Get PDF
Myocardial infarction (MI), which occurs often due to acute ischemia followed by reflow, is associated with irreversible loss (death) of cardiomyocytes. If left untreated, MI will lead to progressive loss of viable cardiomyocytes, deterioration of cardiac function, and congestive heart failure. While supplemental oxygen therapy has long been in practice to treat acute MI, there has not been a clear scientific basis for the observed beneficial effects. Further, there is no rationale for the amount or duration of administration of supplemental oxygenation for effective therapy. The goal of the present study was to determine an optimum oxygenation protocol that can be clinically applicable for treating acute MI. Using EPR oximetry, we studied the effect of exposure to supplemental oxygen cycling (OxCy) administered by inhalation of 21–100% oxygen for brief periods (15–90 min), daily for 5 days, using a rat model of acute MI. Myocardial oxygen tension (pO2), cardiac function and pro-survival/apoptotic signaling molecules were used as markers of treatment outcome. OxCy resulted in a significant reduction of infarct size and improvement of cardiac function. An optimal condition of 30-min OxCy with 95% oxygen + 5% CO2 under normobaric conditions was found to be effective for cardioprotection

AbstractThe field of nanotechnology mainly encompasses with biology, physics, chemistry and material sciences and it develops novel therapeutic nanosized materials for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. The biological syntheses of nanoparticles are being carried out by different macro–microscopic organisms such as plant, bacteria, fungi, seaweeds and microalgae. The biosynthesized nanomaterials have been effectively controlling the various endemic diseases with less adverse effect. Plant contains abundant natural compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, tannins and other nutritional compounds. These natural products are derived from various parts of plant such as leaves, stems, roots shoots, flowers, barks, and seeds. Recently, many studies have proved that the plant extracts act as a potential precursor for the synthesis of nanomaterial in non-hazardous ways. Since the plant extract contains various secondary metabolites, it acts as reducing and stabilizing agents for the bioreduction reaction to synthesized novel metallic nanoparticles. The non-biological methods (chemical and physical) are used in the synthesis of nanoparticles, which has a serious hazardous and high toxicity for living organisms. In addition, the biological synthesis of metallic nanoparticles is inexpensive, single step and eco-friendly methods. The plants are used successfully in the synthesis of various greener nanoparticles such as cobalt, copper, silver, gold, palladium, platinum, zinc oxide and magnetite. Also, the plant mediated nanoparticles are potential remedy for various diseases such as malaria, cancer, HIV, hepatitis and other acute diseases

Hyperoxygenation as a Therapeutic Supplement for Treatment of Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) refers to a group of biologically aggressive breast cancers that do not express estrogen, progesterone or epidermal growth factor receptor 2 hormone receptors. Each subset of TNBC has a unique molecular profile and may require specific treatments. A combination of surgery and chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy is the standard treatment mode for TNBC patients. Tumor oxygen status (hypoxia) is a key factor that may compromise the effectiveness of radiation treatment, as it is known that hypoxia can confer radiation resistance. In this study, we characterized MDA-MB-231 orthotropic xenograft tumors with respect to tumor oxygen level and their response to supplemental oxygen therapy in combination with paclitaxel and radiation therapy. We observed that the TNBC tumors became severely hypoxic (pO2 < 4 mmHg) within 1 week of tumor growth and responded poorly to administration of respiratory hyperoxygenation (100% O2) to mitigate hypoxia. However, periodic administration of supplemental oxygen (100% O2; 60 min/day for 21 days) showed a significant inhibitory effect on tumor volume when compared to control (1,023 ± 32 mm3 vs. 1,378 ± 114 mm3; p < 0.05). Combination of supplemental oxygen with paclitaxel and radiation therapy led to a significant reduction in tumor growth when compared to radiation alone (239 ± 40 mm3 vs. 390 ± 32 mm3; p < 0.05). The therapeutic enhancement by supplemental oxygen is possibly attributed to increase in tumor oxygenation with paclitaxel at the time of radiation treatment. These findings may have important implications in the understanding of the role of oxygen and supplemental oxygen therapy for the treatment of TNBC patients

Nutraceuticals as Potential Therapeutic Agents for Colon Cancer: A Review

    Get PDF
Colon cancer is a world-wide health problem and the second-most dangerous type of cancer, affecting both men and women. The modern diet and lifestyles, with high meat consumption and excessive alcohol use, along with limited physical activity has led to an increasing mortality rate for colon cancer worldwide. As a result, there is a need to develop novel and environmentally benign drug therapies for colon cancer. Currently, nutraceuticals play an increasingly important role in the treatment of various chronic diseases such as colon cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer׳s disease. Nutraceuticals are derived from various natural sources such as medicinal plants, marine organisms, vegetables and fruits. Nutraceuticals have shown the potential to reduce the risk of colon cancer and slow its progression. These dietary substances target different molecular aspects of colon cancer development. Accordingly, this review briefly discusses the medicinal importance of nutraceuticals and their ability to reduce the risk of colorectal carcinogenesis
