The aim of present research focuses on the prediction of machining parameters that improve the quality of surface finish. The surface  roughness is one of the important properties of work piece quality in the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) turning process. An effective approach of optimization techniques genetic algorithm (GA) and response surfacemethodology (RSM) was implemented to investigate the effect of the  cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut on the surface roughness. In this study, the surface roughness is measured during turning operation at different cutting parameters such as speed, feed, and depth of cut on Alumunium 6063 using coated carbide tool. Thesecond order mathematical model is developed using RSM of central  composite method to predict the surface roughness standards. The  regression equation is solved using genetic algorithm approach for   optimizing the cutting parameters for minimizing surface roughness, this study attempts the application of GA technique using Matlab 8.0 is  recommends 1.512ìm as the best minimum predicted surface roughness value for the optimal solution of the cutting conditions was 80 m/min, 0.18 mm/rev,0.3mm

Significance of Deepana and Pachana activity in the treatment of Amapradoshaja Vikaras

Agni plays an important role in digestion of food. All the diseases are produced by Mandagni. Mandagni leads to the formation of Ama which is the root cause of Roga Utpatti. There are so many diseases originating beacause of Ama which are grouped under Ampradoshaja Vikara. Deepana and Pachana are considered under the heading of Shamanaushadhis. It is the first line of treatment selected in order to overcome Ampradoshaja Vikaras. They are very successfully utilised for the day to day practice. There are different views given by our Acharyas regarding Agni, Ama, Amaja Vikaras and role of Deepana and Pachana in their management which are highlighted in this article

Mrityunjaya Rasa is a herbo-mineral formulation mentioned under Jwarachikitsa in Rasendra Sara Sangraha along with different Anupana. It is having ingredients like Shuddha Hingula, Shuddha Gandhaka, Shuddha Vatsanabha, Shuddha Tankana, Pippali and Maricha which show significant result on various types of fever. All drugs of Mrityunjaya Rasa are having properties like Katu Rasa, Teekshna Guna and Jwaraghana action. Rasaushadhis given in smaller dosage restore the individual’s health immediately. In preparation of Rasaushadhis, precaution must be taken throughout the whole procedure. Now-a-days quality assured drugs are not formulated because Standard operative procedure (SOPs) is not followed properly so chances of adverse drug reaction also increase. By following SOP genuine medicines can be prepared. The purpose of standardizing traditional remedies is obviously to ensure therapeutic efficacy. To establish the efficacy along with safety of Rasaushadhis, precaution must be taken throughout the whole procedure to formulate the medicine. So here an effort is placed to validate the process of Shodhana of Hingula, Gandhaka, Vatsanabha and Tankana and to develop a Standard operative procedure for preparation of Mrityunjaya Rasa

Numerical Simulation of Flow Past a Prolate Spheroid

    Get PDF
The prolate spheroid is geometrically very simple but the flow characteristics are complex which are dominated by transition and three-dimensional separation phenomenon having both primary and secondary vortex. The transition phenomenon in this flow is triggered due to the stream wise Tollmien-Schlichting (T-S) wake instability and cross flow instability, which makes the prediction more challenging due to lack of effective predictive tool to model transition. The present work aims at simulating numerically the three-dimensional turbulent flow past 6:1 prolate spheroid at Re=4.2 x 106 using RANS approach for which experimental data are available in literature. These simulations have been carried out using parallel version of the in-house multiblock structured incompressible flow solution code 3D-PURLES (3D Pressure based Unsteady Reynolds Average Navier Stokes and LES solver)

Dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica (Trevor’s disease): a rare case report with oral manifestations

    Get PDF
Dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica, also known as Trevor’s disease, is an extremely rare skeletal developmental disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by an osteocartilaginous outgrowth of one or more epiphyses or of a tarsal bone during childhood. It is a rare skeletal hemimelica disorder characterized by asymmetric growth of cartilage in one or more epiphyses. Due to the unusual presentation and variability of the picture, there is no standardized treatment and outcome is very different. Also such an unusual, unique case with craniofacial manifestations has not been reported in the literature. We report a case of a 14-year-old male, who complained of irregularly placed teeth in upper and lower front teeth region. On general physical examination we noticed some skeletal abnormalities with the patient and hence we subjected him to radiographic investigations. The images were consistent with epiphyseal dysplasia hemimelica. The prognosis of DEH is variable and depends basically on its location and size. Carriers of this unusual dysplasia should be periodically monitored for the risk of recurrence

Darunaka (dandruff) is a disorder mentioned under the spectrum of Shirokapalagata Roga/Kshudra Roga by various Acharyas. It is a Kapha-Vata predominant disorder of Shiro-Kapala (scalp), characterized by Kandu (itching), Kesha-Chyuti (hair fall), Keshabhumi-Rukshata (dryness of scalp) and Keshabhumi-Sphutana (scaling). Shiroabyanga (oil massage to scalp) with Keechakadi Taila is mentioned as a treatment modality for Darunaka by Vangasena. It contains Keechaka (Bambusa arundinaceace), Sarshapa Taila (mustard oil), Gomutra (cow’s urine) as ingredients.  In general all Tailas (oils) alleviates Vata-Dosha and does not aggravate Kapha-Dosha. It is Twak Prasadaka (nourishing), thus helping in treating the disease by Samprapthi Vighatana (breaking the pathogenesis). Though there are plenty of treatment options available for dandruff, there is no promising treatment in any of the allied sciences assuring its complete cure, avoiding recurrence. Thus with the aim to know the efficacy of Keechakadi Taila in treating Darunaka and also to know how effectively it can prevent/ reduce interval between recurrences of Darunaka the present study was carried out. The study showed statistically significant result in the management of Darunaka
