    Get PDF
In this paper the Motion control is one of the technological foundations of industrial automation. Putting an object in the correct place with the right amount of force and torque at the right time is essential for efficient manufacturing operation. In the present work modeling of control system for motorized robot arm with a single degree of freedom is done. The results of the control system are also described. The control algorithm was developed by MATLAB software which is widely used in controlling application. In this system the DC motor moves the robot arm to the desired angular position in accordance with the input given

STUDY OF HAND GESTURE RECOGNITION AND CLASSIFICATION

    Get PDF
To recognize different hand gestures and achieve efficient classification to understand static and dynamic hand movements used for communications.Static and dynamic hand movements are first captured using gesture recognition devices including Kinect device, hand movement sensors, connecting electrodes, and accelerometers. These gestures are processed using hand gesture recognition algorithms such as multivariate fuzzy decision tree, hidden Markov models (HMM), dynamic time warping framework, latent regression forest, support vector machine, and surface electromyogram. Hand movements made by both single and double hands are captured by gesture capture devices with proper illumination conditions. These captured gestures are processed for occlusions and fingers close interactions for identification of right gesture and to classify the gesture and ignore the intermittent gestures. Real-time hand gestures recognition needs robust algorithms like HMM to detect only the intended gesture. Classified gestures are then compared for the effectiveness with training and tested standard datasets like sign language alphabets and KTH datasets. Hand gesture recognition plays a very important role in some of the applications such as sign language recognition, robotics, television control, rehabilitation, and music orchestration

Reforms in Indian agro-processing and agriculture sectors in the context of unilateral and multilateral trade agreements

In this paper, we explore the potential impacts of trade and investment-related policy reforms on India's agro-processing sector. We consider the direct effects of policy reforms within the processing sector, and the indirect effects on agro-processing of policy reforms in the primary agriculture sector, in the Indian economy as a whole, and in a multilateral framework. Towards this, we develop a 22-sector, 16-region version of the GTAP computable general equilibrium (CGE), global model for our analysis. We find that trade and investment-related reforms in agro-processing together can help the sector to grow. Policy reforms that stimulate investment and help to improve productivity will be crucial in offsetting the contractionary pressures of trade reform alone on the production of processed agricultural products. We also find that indirect effects on agroprocessing from India's policy reforms in other sectors are more important than reforms in agro-processing itself. Our findings argue for an economy-wide perspective when targeting reform or development of the agro-processing sector in India. Compared to trade reform, comprehensive domestic reforms in the agro-processing and agriculture sectors relating to investment are critical for achieving growth in agro-processing. However, while the impacts of trade reform per se seem to be small, trade reform - by ushering in a higher degree of competition - could itself be a stimulus for investment and productivity gains in India. At present, unilateral reforms, especially those that improve productivity in agroprocessing and in primary agriculture, are more important to agro-processing than multilateral trade reforms. Nevertheless, our findings also suggest the importance of pursuing a domestic reform agenda within a multilateral trading strategy that can accommodate the expected economic growth of India and its future role in global markets, with general equilibrium effects on agro-processing.Agriculture, Agro-processing, Trade agreements, CGE models

A STUDY ON INFRASTRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING: RETHINKING KNOWLEDGE PERFORMANCE PERSPECTIVE

    Get PDF
This paper aims to present an integrated outlook of knowledge performance by reviewing the linkage between knowledge management (KM) infrastructure and organizational learning dimensions. The study endorses infrastructure capabilities i.e. culture, structure, technology and human resource to influence learning which subsequently leads to enhance knowledge performance within organizational context. A systematic review has been applied to assess KM literature including prior conceptual and research studies that help to substantiate the linkages among KM infrastructure, organizational learning and knowledge performance. The proposed conceptual model provides insights for managers and strategists to analyze the role of KM infrastructure in improving learning practices and knowledge performance. Furthermore, this study emphasizes on enabling learning processes and knowledge infrastructure dimensions, particularly mentioned by Lee and Choi (2003). In spite of various researches in KM there is still a need to review the linkages among the key elements which may affect knowledge performance. This paper contributes to the KM literature by adjoining KM infrastructure to organizational learning and visualizes the integrative effect that may enhance knowledge performance. Study limitations and future scope of the study has also been discussed in the later section

A Review on Characterization of Hybrid Fibre Reinforced Polymer Composite

    Get PDF
Fibre reinforced polymer composite are well recognized materials for automobile, aerospace, packaging and construction industries due to its properties such as light weight, low cost and high specific strength. Hybridization of fibres has become very popular technique to increase the properties of single fibre reinforced polymer composite. This paper presents review  on mechanical properties, thermal properties, water absorption properties, dynamic mechanical analysis and tribological behaviour of hybrid fibre reinforced polymer composite. Finding of this study shows that hybridization can improved mechanical, thermal and dynamic mechanical property, and decrease water absorption property and wear rate
