PID Controller based DC Motor Speed Control

    Get PDF
Due to extensive use of motion control system in industry, there has been growing research on proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers. DC motors are widely used various areas of industrial applications. The aim of this paper is to implement efficient method for controlling speed of DC motor using a PID controller based. Proposed system is implemented using arduino microcontroller and PID controller. Motor speed is controlled through PID based revolutions per minute of the motor. This encoder data will be send through microcontroller to Personal Computer with PID controller implemented in MATLAB. Results shows that PID controllers used provide efficient controlling of DC motor

Energy Efficient Photovoltaic Systems using Thermoelectric Cooling System

    Get PDF
Dual thermoelectric-photovoltaic (TE-PV) systems are a type of solar energy technology that combines two different technologies to generate electricity by concentrating solar radiation. These systems use a solar concentrator to focus sunlight onto a photovoltaic cell and a thermoelectric generator. The aim of this paper is to develop a dual thermoelectric-photovoltaic system with a water-cooled heat sink to generate electricity from concentrated solar radiation through Fresnel lenses. In addition, the detailed design for the components that will be integrated into an experimental prototype of the dual system on a laboratory scale is carried out and its functionality is determined. Finally, its functionality is evaluated and achieved an estimated maximum power of 1.5 Watts

Analysis of Blast Loading Effect on High Rise Buildings

    Get PDF
This paper presents the dynamic response of a High Rise Structure subjected to blast load. The fundamentals of blast hazards and the interaction of blast waves with structures are examined in this study it is about the lateral stability of a high rise building modeled using SAP2000. The model building was subjected to two different charge weights of 800lbs and 1600lbs TNT at a two different standoff distances of 5m and 10m.The blast loads are calculated using the methods outlined in section 5 of TM5-1300 and a nonlinear modal analysis is used for the analysis of the dynamic load of the blast. The primary performance parameters that will be used to evaluate the behavior of the building from a global perspective are the total drift and the inter-storey drift. They are good indicators of nonstructural damage, collapse and ability of the structure to resist P-delta effect. Behavior of R.C frame and concrete infill frame will be computed in Dynamic condition Keywords: Blast loading; Inter-storey Drift; Standoff Distance; TNT; Positive Phas

    Mechanisms of rolling contact spalling

The results of a study aimed at analyzing the mechanical material interactions responsible for rolling contact spalling of the 440 C steel, high pressure oxygen turbopump bearings are presented. A coupled temperature displacement finite element analysis of the effects of friction heating under the contact is presented. The contact is modelled as a stationary, heat generating, 2 dimensional indent in an elastic perfectly plastic half-space with heat fluxes up to 8.6 x 10000 KW/m sq comparable to those generated in the bearing. Local temperatures in excess of 1000 C are treated. The calculations reveal high levels of residual tension after the contact is unloaded and cools. Efforts to promote Mode 2/Mode 3 fatigue crack growth under cyclic torsion in hardened 440 C steel are described. Spalls produced on 440 C steel by a 3 ball/rod rolling contact testing machine were studied with scanning microscopy. The shapes of the cyclic, stress strain hysteresis loops displayed by hardened 440 C steel in cyclic torsion at room temperature are defined for the plastic strain amplitudes encountered in rolling/sliding contact. Results of these analyses are discussed in detail
