Stable accretion from a cold disc in highly magnetized neutron stars

The aim of this paper is to investigate the transition of a strongly magnetized neutron star into the accretion regime with very low accretion rate. For this purpose we monitored the Be-transient X-ray pulsar GRO J1008-57 throughout a full orbital cycle. The current observational campaign was performed with the Swift/XRT telescope in the soft X-ray band (0.5-10 keV) between two subsequent Type I outbursts in January and September 2016. The expected transition to the propeller regime was not observed. However, the transitions between different regimes of accretion were detected. In particular, after an outburst the source entered a stable accretion state characterised by the accretion rate of ~10^14-10^15 g/s. We associate this state with accretion from a cold (low-ionised) disc of temperature below ~6500 K. We argue that a transition to such accretion regime should be observed in all X-ray pulsars with certain combination of the rotation frequency and magnetic field strength. Luminosity dependent accretion state change in GRO J1008-57

In a former publication, we have analyzed the transient neutron star X-ray binary GRO J1008-57 using all available RXTE-, Swift-, and Suzaku-data. As we have found, the source's spectral components, i.e., a power-law with high exponential cutoff and a black-body, are strongly correlated with the hard X-ray flux (15-50 keV). We update the analytical description of these dependence, including a change in the photon index behaviour from a flat to a logarithmic function. The flux, where the change occurs, is consistent with the onset of the black-body emission. Thus, a change of the accretion state always occurs in GRO J1008-57 at a particular flux level

Concurrent normals of immersed manifolds

It is conjectured since long that for any convex body $K \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ there exists a point in the interior of $K$ which belongs to at least $2n$ normals from different points on the boundary of $K$. The conjecture is known to be true for $n=2,3,4$. Motivated by a recent results of Y. Martinez-Maure, and an approach by A. Grebennikov and G. Panina, we prove the following: Let a compact smooth $m$-dimensional manifold $M^m$ be immersed in $\mathbb{R}^n$. We assume that at least one of the homology groups $H_k(M^m,\mathbb{Z}_2)$ with $k<m$ vanishes. Then under mild conditions, almost every normal line to $M^m$ contains an intersection point of at least $\beta +4$ normals from different points of $M^m$, where $\beta$ is the sum of Betti numbers of $M^m$

EXO 2030+375 Restarts in Reverse

The Be X-ray binary pulsar EXO 2030+375, first detected in 1985, has shown a significant detected X-ray outburst at nearly every periastron passage of its 46-day orbit for the past ~25 years, with one low state accompanied by a torque reversal in the 1990s. In early 2015 the outbursts progressively became fainter and less regular while the monotonic spin-up flattened. At the same time a decrease in the H$\alpha$ line equivalent width was reported, indicating a change in the disk surrounding the mass donor. In order to explore the source behaviour in the poorly explored low-flux state with a possible transition to a state of centrifugal inhibition of accretion we have undertaken an observing campaign with Swift/XRT, NuSTAR and the Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT). Analisis Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Konsumen Dalam Memutuskan Untuk Menginap Di Green Hotel Di Surabaya

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui faktor – faktor yang mempengaruhi konsumen dalam memutuskan untuk menginap di green hotel di Surabaya. Populasi adalah seluruh konsumen yang pernah menginap di hotel yang tergolong green hotel di Surabaya minimal sekali dalam kurun waktu 6 bulan terakhir dengan sampel penelitian berjumlah 168 responden. Teknik analisa yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisa faktor untuk mereduksi sejumlah faktor internal dan eksternal yang mempengaruhi perilaku konsumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada 6 faktor baru yang terbentuk, yaitu social control, green benefit, environmental responsibility, green hotel knowledge, green opinion dan environmental concerns dengan faktor social control yang paling dominan
