    139^{139}La-NMR study of spin-dynamics coupled with hole mobility in TT*-type La0.86_{0.86}Eu0.86_{0.86}Sr0.28_{0.28}CuO4δ_{4-\delta}

    In TT*-type cuprate oxides with five oxygen coordination, little is known about the relationship between the spin correlations and dope carriers. We performed 139^{139}La-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electrical resistivity measurements on an as-sintered (AS) and oxidation annealed (OA) polycrystalline TT*-type La0.86_{0.86}Eu0.86_{0.86}S0.28_{0.28}CuO4_4 (LESCO) to investigate its magnetic and superconducting (SC) properties. Upon cooling, the NMR spectrum of AS LESCO broadened below 3 K, at which the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T11/T_1 against the temperature exhibited a maximum, thereby indicating the appearance of static magnetism. The temperature dependence of 1/T11/T_1 between 3 K and 20 K was similar to that of the resistivity displaying the semiconducting behavior. Furthermore, the energy scale of the transport gap and spin-dynamics estimated was found to be comparable. These results suggest a close connection between the mobility of the doped carriers and low-energy spin-dynamics, as reported for lightly doped TT-type La2x_{2-x}Srx_xCuO4_4. In the OA SC sample, we confirmed the absence of a magnetic order and the Korringa relation above 10 K. Therefore, in the TT*-type LESCO with xx = 0.28, the magnetic state coupled with holes drastically turns to the weakly correlated metallic state by oxidation annealing.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure

    We report a case of giant gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST)primarily occurred in the greater omentum. A78-year-old woman was referred to our hospital because of a giant abdominal tumor. Contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography(CT)showed a giant tumor measuring 20×24×13cm in diameter in the abdominal cavity, consisting of heterogeneously enhanced solid and cystic lesions. Abdominal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)after 3 weeks from the first medical examination showed the enlarged tumor measuring24×25×17cm in diameter, the intensity of the solid lesion was low on T1weighted image, heterogeneously enhanced on T2weighted image and high on diffusion weighted image. At surgery, we confirmed the giant tumor continued to the omentum, and pressured the stomach, pancreas, and colon. The resected specimen weighed 8,325g containing of5,640ml of red-brown fluid. Histological examination showed the tumor consisted of proliferated spindle cells in a fascicular pattern and polynesic hemorrhage and necrosis. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for c-kit and CD34, and negative for S‐100 protein and desmin, indicating a GIST in the greater omentum. The mitotic figures were in a40/50 high power field. In genetic testing, the tumor cells had exon11mutation of c-kit gene. The woman started taking imatinib after operation and remains alive and recurrence-free

    The patient was a 68-year-old man who had undergone right hemicolectomy for ascending colon cancer, and pulmonary resection for lung metastases. After 10 months of operations, abdominal computed tomograms revealed a liver tumor with a biliary tumor thrombus in the segment 5 and a localized dilation of the intrahepatic bile duct. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography showed obstruction, 2cm long, of the intrahepatic bile duct (B5) and dilation of the peripheral duct. Cytological examination of extracted bile showed adenocarcinoma. A right hepatic lobectomy was performed under the diagnosis of metastatic liver tumor with tumor development in the intrahepatic bile duct or intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The resected specimen showed massive infiltration of the tumor into intrahepatic bile duct (B5) with forming a tumor thrombus. Histologically, the tumor was moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, similar to the ascending colon cancer. The final diagnosis was liver metastasis of ascending colon cancer with intrabiliary tumor growth

    The mass determination of TOI-519 b: a close-in giant planet transiting a metal-rich mid-M dwarf

    We report the mass determination of TOI-519 b, a transiting substellar object around a mid-M dwarf. We carried out radial velocity measurements using Subaru / InfraRed Doppler (IRD), revealing that TOI-519 b is a planet with a mass of 0.4630.088+0.082 MJup0.463^{+0.082}_{-0.088}~M_{\rm Jup}. We also find that the host star is metal rich ([Fe/H]=0.27±0.09\rm [Fe/H] = 0.27 \pm 0.09 dex) and has the lowest effective temperature (Teff=3322±49T_{\rm eff}=3322 \pm 49 K) among all stars hosting known close-in giant planets based on the IRD spectra and mid-resolution infrared spectra obtained with NASA Infrared Telescope Facility / SpeX. The core mass of TOI-519 b inferred from a thermal evolution model ranges from 00 to 30 M\sim30~M_\oplus, which can be explained by both the core accretion and disk instability models as the formation origins of this planet. However, TOI-519 is in line with the emerging trend that M dwarfs with close-in giant planets tend to have high metallicity, which may indicate that they formed in the core accretion model. The system is also consistent with the potential trend that close-in giant planets around M dwarfs tend to be less massive than those around FGK dwarfs.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures.
