    Representing parallel programs with MPI by exploiting a graph-based approach

    This paper presents a novel method for the analysis and representation of parallel program with MPI. Parallel programs are mapped onto graph-theoretical problems and are represented by DP*Tgraph, extension of T-graphs, timing graphs, which are similar to flow graphs. These graphs reflect the structure and the timing behavior of the code.     An Image Retrieval System Based on the Color Complexity of Images

    The fuzzy color histogram (FCH) spreads each pixel's total membership value to all histogram bins based on their color similarity. The FCH is insensitive to quantization errors. However, the FCH can state only the global properties of an image rather than the local properties. For example, it cannot depict the color complexity of an image. To characterize the color complexity of an image, this paper presents two image features -- the color variances among adjacent segments (CVAAS) and the color variances of the pixels within an identical segment (CVPWIS). Both features can explain not only the color complexity but also the principal pixel colors of an image. Experimental results show that the CVAAS and CVPWIS based image retrieval systems can provide a high accuracy rate for finding out the database images that satisfy the users' requirement. Moreover, both systems can also resist the scale variances of images as well as the shift and rotation variances of segments in images

    Accounting Disclosure At The Organization-society Interface: A Meta-theory And Empirical Evidence

    This dissertation consists of three studies related to accounting disclosure at the interface of the organization and society. The first study investigates the overlapping perspectives of legitimacy theory, institutional theory, resource dependence theory, and stakeholder theory and integrates these theories into a more cohesive meta-theory of the organization-society interface. The second study examines whether a corporation\u27s charitable contributions represent a corporate social performance strategy or a legitimation strategy. More specifically, study two investigates, from two competing perspectives, how corporate executives rationalize their philanthropic actions. The third study analyzes the relationship between the current tax laws and the fulfillment of corporate foundations\u27 social functions. Taken together, these three studies build upon prior theoretical and empirical work to advance social and environmental accounting research

    Effect of Nanosilica and Titania on Thermal Stability of Polypropylene/Oil Palm Empty Fruit Fibre Composite

    Degradation of polypropylene (PP) composites at elevated temperature for prolonged period has shortened the lifetime of PP composites. Thus, variety of fillers has been incorporated into PP matrix to improve thermal degradation stability. The effects of titania and nanosilica in PP reinforced with oil palm empty fruit bunch fibres (EFB) were investigated in this study. Mechanical properties of the samples were determined before and after thermal ageing. Morphology of the composite with varies fillers composition were analyzed using scanning electron microscope. The introduction of nanosilica into PP/EFB composite filled with titania has increased both the melting and glass transition temperature of PP. Chain splitting in molecular chains reduced with the incorporation of nanosilica and titania into PP and PP/FEB composites. The TGA study has showed that the addition of nanosilica has further enhanced the thermal stability effect of titania in PP/EFB composite. However, both the Izod impact strength and tensile strength of the composite reduced greatly after 20 days of thermal ageing

    The Effect of Affordance on Ubiquitous Commerce Consumption

    The rapid development of ubiquitous technologies and mobile devices has made ubiquitous commerce (U-commerce) the next business wave. U-commerce enabled merchants with new opportunities to provide personalized services and novel shopping experiences to customers. Applying affordance theory, this study builds a research model that explains the consumer cognitive assimilation process in U-commerce and explores hedonic and impulsive consumption. This study played the U-commerce video for participants before they answered the questionnaires. The empirical results show that context-aware facilitation and social facilitation contribute equally in explaining cognitive assimilation. Meanwhile, cognitive assimilation significantly influences both hedonic consumption and impulsive consumption. This study sheds light on the two important facilitations derived from the U-commerce environment and also reveals the determinants for two types of interesting purchase behaviors in the U-commerce context
