MAAIG: Motion Analysis And Instruction Generation
Many people engage in self-directed sports training at home but lack the
real-time guidance of professional coaches, making them susceptible to injuries
or the development of incorrect habits. In this paper, we propose a novel
application framework called MAAIG(Motion Analysis And Instruction Generation).
It can generate embedding vectors for each frame based on user-provided sports
action videos. These embedding vectors are associated with the 3D skeleton of
each frame and are further input into a pretrained T5 model. Ultimately, our
model utilizes this information to generate specific sports instructions. It
has the capability to identify potential issues and provide real-time guidance
in a manner akin to professional coaches, helping users improve their sports

Attractive or Faithful? Popularity-Reinforced Learning for Inspired Headline Generation
With the rapid proliferation of online media sources and published news,
headlines have become increasingly important for attracting readers to news
articles, since users may be overwhelmed with the massive information. In this
paper, we generate inspired headlines that preserve the nature of news articles
and catch the eye of the reader simultaneously. The task of inspired headline
generation can be viewed as a specific form of Headline Generation (HG) task,
with the emphasis on creating an attractive headline from a given news article.
To generate inspired headlines, we propose a novel framework called
POpularity-Reinforced Learning for inspired Headline Generation (PORL-HG).
PORL-HG exploits the extractive-abstractive architecture with 1) Popular Topic
Attention (PTA) for guiding the extractor to select the attractive sentence
from the article and 2) a popularity predictor for guiding the abstractor to
rewrite the attractive sentence. Moreover, since the sentence selection of the
extractor is not differentiable, techniques of reinforcement learning (RL) are
utilized to bridge the gap with rewards obtained from a popularity score
predictor. Through quantitative and qualitative experiments, we show that the
proposed PORL-HG significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art headline
generation models in terms of attractiveness evaluated by both human (71.03%)
and the predictor (at least 27.60%), while the faithfulness of PORL-HG is also
comparable to the state-of-the-art generation model.Comment: AAAI 202
Efficient Method for Calculating the Composite Stiffness of Parabolic Leaf Springs with Variable Stiffness for Vehicle Rear Suspension
Photoacoustic imaging of living mouse brain vasculature using hollow gold nanospheres
Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) also referred to as optoacoustic tomography (OAT) is a hybrid imaging modality that employs nonionizing optical radiation and ultrasonic detection. Here, we describe the application of a new class of optical contrast agents based on mesoscopic hollow gold nanospheres (HAuNS) to PAT. HAuNS are ∼40 nm in diameter with a hollow interior and consist of a thin gold wall. They display strong resonance absorption tuned to the near-infrared (NIR) range, with an absorption peak at 800 nm, whose photoacoustic efficiency is significantly greater than that of blood. Following surface conjugation with thiolated poly(ethylene glycol), the pegylated HAuNS (PEG-HAuNS) had distribution and elimination half-lives of 1.38 ± 0.38 and 71.82 ± 30.46 h, respectively. Compared with PAT images based on the intrinsic optical contrast in nude mice, the PAT images acquired within 2 h after intravenous administration of PEG-HAuNS showed the brain vasculature with greater clarity and detail. The image depicted brain blood vessels as small as ∼100 μm in diameter using PEG-HAuNS as contrast agents. Preliminary results showed no acute toxicity to the liver, spleen, or kidneys in mice following a single imaging dose of PEG-HAuNS. Our results indicate that PEG-HAuNS are promising contrast agents for PAT, with high spatial resolution and enhanced sensitivity

Psoas Abscess Caused by Non-Typhoid Salmonella in a Patient with Severe Aplastic Anemia
The clinical spectrum of infections caused by non-typhoid Salmonella spp. includes gastroenteritis, enteric fever, bacteremia, and extraintestinal localized complications, especially in immunocompromised hosts. Here we report a patient with severe aplastic anemia developing left iliopsoas abscess caused by non-typhoid Salmonella (NTS), which was successfully treated by prolonged antibiotic treatment and repeated debridement. Our data indicate that aplastic anemia is a risk factor for infection caused by NTS
Loganin Exerts Sedative and Hypnotic Effects via Modulation of the Serotonergic System and GABAergic Neurons
Corni fructus, the fruit of Cornus officinalis Sieb. et Zucc., has been used as a tonic for the kidney in China for thousands of years. Loganin is one of the major constituents derived from Corni fructus. In this study, we revealed the sedative and hypnotic activity of loganin and investigated its mechanisms for the first time. Pentobarbital-induced sleep test and insomnia mice models [induced by caffeine and p-chlorophenylalanine (PCPA)] were used for the assessment of sedative and hypnotic effects of loganin. It was found that loganin (20–50 mg/kg) exerted sedative effect in normal mice. Loganin exhibited hypnotic effect by increasing sleep onset and sleep duration in pentobarbital-treated mice, recovering PCPA-induced insomnia and exerting synergistic hypnosis effect with 5-HTP. In addition, electroencephalograph (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) recordings of rats showed that loganin (35 mg/kg) prolonged the ratio of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and shortened wakefulness significantly, further immunohistochemistry showed that loganin (35 mg/kg) increased c-Fos expression in GABAergic neurons of rats in the ventrolateral preoptic nucleus (VLPO). The levels of norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), serotonin (5-HT) and its metabolite were measured in the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and striatum of mice, 1 h after loganin (35 mg/kg) treatment. 5-HT, 5-HIAA/5-HT, DA, and DOPAC were decreased significantly in the prefrontal cortex. In conclusion, these results indicated that loganin produced beneficial sedative and hypnotic activity, which might be mainly mediated by modification of the serotonergic system and GABAergic neurons
Incidence Rate and Predictors of Globus Pallidus Necrosis after Charcoal Burning Suicide
Objective: This study examined predictors of globus pallidus necrosis as there was a paucity of literature of globus pallidus necrosis resulted from carbon monoxide poisoning after charcoal burning suicide. Methods: A total of 67 patients who had attempted charcoal burning suicide were recruited and stratified into two subgroups based on either presence (n = 40) or absence (n = 27) of globus pallidus necrosis. Demographic, clinical, laboratory, and radiographic data were obtained for cross-sectional analysis. All patients were followed to investigate the risks for mortality. Results: The patients aged 36.8 ± 11.1 years (67.2%) were male. Patients with globus pallidus necrosis were younger (p = 0.044) and had less hypertension (p = 0.015) than patients without globus pallidus necrosis. Furthermore, patients with globus pallidus necrosis suffered from severer medical complications, i.e., fever (p = 0.008), acute myocardial injury (p = 0.022), acute rhabdomyolysis (p = 0.022), and neuropsychiatric symptoms (p < 0.001) than patients without globus pallidus necrosis. Moreover, patients with globus pallidus necrosis received less hyperbaric oxygen therapy than without necrosis (p = 0.024). Two patients (3.0%) died on arrival. In a multivariable regression model, it was revealed that acute myocardial injury (odds ratio 4.6, confidence interval 1.1-18.9, p = 0.034) and neuropsychiatric symptoms (odds ratio 8.0, confidence interval 2.0-31.4, p = 0.003), decreased blood bicarbonate level (odds ratio 0.8, confidence interval 0.7-1.0, p = 0.032), and younger age (odds ratio 0.9, confidence interval 0.9-1.0, p = 0.038) were significant predictors for globus pallidus necrosis. Conclusion: Although patients who had attempted charcoal burning suicide had a low mortality rate (3.0%), globus pallidus necrosis was not uncommon (59.7%) in this population. Thermosensitive Nanocables Prepared by Surface-Initiated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization
Thermosensitive nanocables consisting of Au nanowire cores and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) sheaths (denoted as Au/PNIPAAm) were synthesized by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP). The formation of PNIPAAm sheath was verified by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) results confirmed the core/shell structure of nanohybrids. The thickness and density of PNIPAAm sheaths can be adjusted by controlling the amount of cross-linker during the polymerization. Signature temperature response was observed from Au/cross-linked-PNIPAAm nanocables. Such smart nanocables show immense potentials as building blocks for novel thermosensitive nanodevices in future
