Perception of Prosodic Division Depth in Spoken Poetry (A.S. Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin”)

    Get PDF
Pauses are one of the most universal markers of prosodic division in different languages. Their duration depends on various factors such as genre, syntax, and punctuation. In poetry, pauses not only help reveal the structure of the poem and emphasize its division into lines, but also reflect the varying degree of internal division within a line. This study presents the results of a perceptual experiment involving 11 participants who evaluated the presence and depth of prosodic breaks in spoken Russian poetry using a 5-point scale, which has been proven effective in previous experiments conducted on prose texts in Russian and Dutch. The experiment showed that native speakers successfully identify pauses in spoken poetry and consistently determine their depth. When evaluating the depth of division within a line, participants tended to use the lowest possible score. Additionally, a correlation was found between the duration of physical pauses in the speaker’s speech and the level of evaluation of prosodic breaks by the participants. These findings fill a gap in understanding the depth of prosodic division in poetry and confirm previously identified patterns of pause distribution in Russian poetry

Introduction. Isotretinoin is the first-choice drug in the treatment of severe forms of acne vulgaris. The combination of systemic retinoids with durant corticosteroids helps to reduce the likelihood of developing “retinoic” dermatitis and exacerbation of acne in the initial stages of isotretinoin therapy.Purpose of the study. Determination of the effectiveness of the combined use of isotretinoin and a durant corticosteroid in the treatment of severe forms of acne vulgaris.Materials and methods. Twenty six patients with “severe” or “very severe” grade on the IGA scale were included in this randomised, controlled comparative study. Thirteen patients (group A) were treated with isotretinoin 0.5 mg/kg/day (cumulative dose from 120 to 150 mg/kg) for 8 months and 2 injections of betamethasone dipropionate + betamethasone sodium phosphate at dose 1 ml (2 mg + 5 mg/1 ml) at first month (1 injection per two weeks) and thirteen patients (group B) were treated with combined therapy with isotretinoin at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg/day (cumulative dose from 120 to 150 mg/kg) for 8 months and assessment was based on the IGA scale, counting the number of inflammatory and non-inflammatory elements, indicators DIA (dermatological index of acne) and DLQI and was done at baseline, 1, 4 and 8 months of treatment.Results. At month 8, compared to group B, group A showed more significant decrease in IGA score and 76% patients achieved “clear” or “almost clear skin” degree (76% vs. 30%). The reduction in the number of inflammatory and non-inflammatory elements showed a marked clinical improvement in group A (89.2% vs 22.3 % for nodules). The decrease in DIA was 88.3% in group A and 71.3% in group B. Exacerbations of acne were recorded in 0% (group A) vs 38.0% (group B) of patients. We also found a relationship between the achievement of a 2-point reduction in the degree on the IGA scale after 8 months and the presence of exacerbations while taking isotretinoin (p = 0.012). Analyzing the DLQI between the two, we were unable to identify statistically significant differences.Conclusions. Combines use of long acting steroid with isotretinoin provides synergic effect while minimizing the side effect of isotretinoin (decreases the number of exacerbations), demonstrates a visible effect to patients within a month, thereby increasing compliance, improving the quality of life and reducing the risk of scarring

Introduction. The  duration of  the  skin  healing period and the  final result of  cosmetic procedures are influenced not only by the treatment protocol and the type of therapy chosen, but also by skin care in the early post-treatment period.Aim of study. Тo study the effectiveness and safety of the use of the topical agent “Traumeel® Cosmo gel” in patients in the early post-treatment period after cosmetic procedures, accompanied by traumatization of the skin.Materials and methods. 20 female patients aged 19 to 49 years, who sought help for the correction of age-related skin changes, acne vulgaris, scarring of the skin and received the procedure of cosmetological therapy, accompanied by damage to the skin. All patients were assigned to group 1 (20 patients). Depending on the method of cosmetological treatment, the external remedy “Traumeel® Cosmo gel” was applied from 2 to 3 times a day at the treated area for 7 ± 2 days.Results. According to the patients’ assessment of the effectiveness and comfort of the treatment, the use of the “Traumeel® Cosmo gel” in  the  early post-treatment period is an effective and safe method of  regenerative therapy of  the  skin  and has a  high therapeutic effectiveness, which was confirmed by the results of the study.Conclusions. Based on the results of the evaluation of the effectiveness by the doctor and patients, as well as the evaluation of the monitoring of the dermatological status, the quality of life index, the patient’s subjective assessment of their response to therapy, consider the therapeutic effectiveness to be high, significantly contributing to the improvement of the quality of life

Mechanism of making legislative decisions in the Russian Federation as a method of economic regulation: based on the analysis of quantitative data of LAWSTREAM.RU database

Objective: to consider the use of legislative decision-making mechanisms in the Russian Federation as a tool of economic regulation on the basis of quantitative data of LAWSTREAM.RU database and to confirm or refute the hypothesis that the failures in the GDP growth dynamics encourage the state regulator to intensify rulemaking. Methods: abstract-logical method, comparison, correlation analysis. Results: the mechanism of legislative decision-making can and should be considered as a tool for the economic regulation policy implementation. The effectiveness of reforms is determined by the way in which the government, as the regulatory body of the economic system, uses the existing mechanisms of legislative decision-making in the field of economic regulation. The paper analyzes the institutional aspects of economic reforms. The authors compare the quantitative dynamics of the law drafts in the sphere of economic relations submitted to the State Duma and adopted by it, and the dynamics of the Russian GDP growth in 1994-2018. The correlation is shown between the macroeconomic situation and the legislative activity of the President and government in economic sphere; the hypothesis is confirmed about the influence of the GDP growth on the President and government’s legislative activity in the sphere of economy and finance regulation in case of sharply negative GDP values. It is established that the peak of the state regulator’s activity in the regulatory sphere is the system reaction to shock, expressed in a sharp drop in GDP growth.Scientific novelty: the article is the first attempt to compare the quantitative indicators of the adopted law drafts in the sphere of economy regulation and the GDP dynamics.Practical significance: the results obtained by the authors are useful for describing the model of legislative influence of the Russian executive authorities on the economic environment, taking into account the current macroeconomic indicators

    Get PDF
Background. Breast cancer (BC) is distinguished with its biological tumour subtypes as luminal A, B, HER2-positive and triple-negative. The current clinical guidelines of the Russian Ministry of Health prescribe neoadjuvant targeted chemotherapy as combined treatment in the HER2-positive cancer subtype. An adequate model for treatment efficacy prediction in such patients had been missing to date.Aim. Development of a mathematical model and its computer realisation for complete morphological regression estimation in patients with primary operable HER2-positive breast cancer.Materials and methods. Statistically significant predictors were estimated with the treatment outcome data on 103 HER2- positive breast cancer cases with neoadjuvant targeted chemotherapy. A binary logistic regression model was developed to account for a dichotomous variable dependency on certain predictors. Results and discussion. Multivariate analysis laid out a mathematical model and software “Complete morphological regression estimation in primary operable EGFR-expressing breast cancer under neoadjuvant chemotherapy”. Our results attest that the program correctly automates a systematic estimation of complete morphological regression achieved prior to neoadjuvant targeted chemotherapy and is clinically justified for optimising treatment regimens in primary operable HER2-positive BC.Conclusion. The mathematical model and computer program developed estimate the rate of complete morphological regression achieved prior to neoadjuvant targeted chemotherapy with a high 92 % sensitivity, 97.33 % specificity and 93.21% accuracy

The results of a search for hydrogen-like atoms consisting of πK±\pi^{\mp}K^{\pm} mesons are presented. Evidence for πK\pi K atom production by 24 GeV/c protons from CERN PS interacting with a nickel target has been seen in terms of characteristic πK\pi K pairs from their breakup in the same target (178±49178 \pm 49) and from Coulomb final state interaction (653±42653 \pm 42). Using these results the analysis yields a first value for the πK\pi K atom lifetime of τ=(2.51.8+3.0)\tau=(2.5_{-1.8}^{+3.0}) fs and a first model-independent measurement of the S-wave isospin-odd πK\pi K scattering length a0=13a1/2a3/2=(0.110.04+0.09)Mπ1\left|a_0^-\right|=\frac{1}{3}\left|a_{1/2}-a_{3/2}\right|= \left(0.11_{-0.04}^{+0.09} \right)M_{\pi}^{-1} (aIa_I for isospin II).Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
