The article examines tools, which may be used to assess service quality in aviation and to analyze service quality models. Many experts analyzing customer service state that a good customer service is one of the most important reasons for customer satisfaction and loyalty. This is particularly important in aviation customer service, because aviation services are subject to higher requirements due to the specifics of the service. In pursuit of the top-level customer service, refining customer needs and expectations becomes very important, because knowing customer expectations allows purposefully focusing the customer service process based on them and achieving high customer satisfaction. Also, the nature of customer service in aviation is different; here staff must be trained with more scrutiny and examples of specific situations. In order to investigate the quality of customer service, conducting a theoretical analysis of customer needs or service criteria alone is not sufficient. Customer service quality is perceived differently due to a variety of factors, thus service quality models are used to find out customer expectations or to identify service gaps, also helping to conduct analyses and to improve processes. The analysis of customer service models revealed that they have not been adapted for aviation due to the following: their focus on a single service factor, the lack of relationship between components, neglected role of employees in customer service, and the like

Research on the improvement of industrial practices of transport and logistics students: case study in Lithuania

The article examines the impact of human resource practices on future employees in the transport and logistics sector where logistics companies operate. It presents the impact of the organization and implementation of industrial practices on the preparation of young specialists in the transport and logistics sectors and self-actualization of students. A research was conducted revealing how each industrial practice is actually perceived and accepted by a trainee, the industrial practice supervisor of a school of higher education and persons responsible for industrial practices in companies at the organizational level. The article also presents the expert assessment method and calculations of the compatibility of expert opinions. The obtained research results allowed developing a hypothetical model for the organization and implementation of the industrial practice process, which lists conditions for organizing and implementing industrial practices and potential results associated with the improvement of competencies, self-actualization of young specialists and concordance with study results

Defining transport logistics: a literature review and practitioner opinion based approach

There are many concepts in the transport and logistics business: transport, logistics, transportation, forwarding, etc. There are also a number of different study programs and disciplines such as: transport economics, transport logistics, logistics management, etc. All of these titles are often related to the content of the plan, planning, organization, management and control of the movement of human, material, informational and financial flows. However, in practice, they are often correlated and misused. Therefore, it is an important task to properly define these concepts. This article, based on various scientific literature, deals with the concept of transport logistics in various disciplines and fields of research. The results of this analysis made it possible to identify that there is no unified logistic term. Therefore, a qualitative study was also used. The purpose of this study is to identify the concept of transport/logistics companies in the Baltic States as the concept is treated in business. The results of the research have shown that the concept of transport logistics is also understood differently. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to formulate the definition of transport logistics on the basis of the results of the scientific literature analysis and qualitative research

Algorithm for the assessment of heavyweight and oversize cargo transportation routes

    Get PDF
The improvement of transportation systems and technologic equipment leads to changing technical capabilities of this equipment. With the development of technologies, industrial development is also inevitable, resulting in correspondingly increasing need of transportation of HeavyWeight and OverSize (HW/OS) cargo. The application of a systematic approach in HW/OS cargo transportation processes allows reducing costs of delivery of such a cargo several times, which leads to a dramatic change of economic development and investment attraction conditions. Thus creating a system of criteria for the selection and assessment of HW/OS routes, which would allow selecting the most appropriate route of transportation in terms of cost and time, is expedient for this reason. The algorithm for the assessment of HW/OS cargo transportation routes will be drawn up in this article. This algorithm enables an objective evaluation of HW/OS transportation processes comparing different modes of transport, route segments, cargo transportation and cargo handling technology, and it can be practically applied to any territory

The rapidly changing world determines changes in the business processes. Logistics and transport are the areas facing constant changes. Therefore, an important point is to analyse the current problems of logistics and transport within the context of the changing environment. For many years, the experts of the Dept of Logistics and Transport Management of the Faculty of Transport Engineering from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University have been pursuing research both, in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) in Lithuania and foreign countries. This research has been directed toward improvements to logistics and the entire supply chain in pursuit of economic, social and ecological competitiveness, an increase in the competitiveness and attractiveness of the transport system in the context of sustainable development, the impact of this system on the economic and social welfare of society, an increase in the competitiveness and attractiveness of the transport sector of improving the legal framework and the application of innovative technologies (including IT) in the transport sector aimed at implementing economic and social cohesion goals. The article deals with some of the key issues of the above introduced research

When Lithuania joined the European Union, ensuring the road traffic safety became one of the most important problems. In Lithuania. official data collection is arranged if a traffic event caused an injury or a death of a traffic participant. In addition. the total number of traffic events is calculated. However. no data on tangible damage caused by a traffic event are fixed. if the event caused such damage only. In addition. there are no official data on traffic events where nobody suffers and the traffic participants agree on the circumstances of the event. For systematization of collected data. certain data accounting measures are applied and the results are provided to the final data managers. This article consist of theoretical and practical research on the factors that predeterminate the accident rate in Lithuania heavy transport sector
