James Sicner\u27s Eternal Vigilance : An Illustrated Narrative to The World\u27s Largest Photo-Collage Mural

In the Coates Library at Trinity University in San Antonio Texas, a remarkable work of art covers its central stairwell\u27s outer and inner walls. It is the world’s largest photo-collage mural, encompassing c.1,400 square feet, and composed of hundreds of images, many of which are themselves composed of, and integrated with, other images. It was created by the artist, James Sicner. This is a guide to that work. It is based on primary research conducted in 1991 and an examination of primary sources, texts, and illustrations located in Sicner’s home, conducted and transcribed two subsequent interviews with James’ sister Celeste Sicner-Hurd, and transcribed an on-air Trinity University “Library Hour” program James Sicner had with Irma Dee Everts, and Katherine Pettit, on January 30, 1980.https://digitalcommons.trinity.edu/mono/1193/thumbnail.jp

Grassroots Market Research on Grass: Predicting Cannabis Brand Performance Using Social Media Scraping

[EN] Social media listening has become a useful tool to marketers in studying behavior for a wide variety of consumer applications, from political leanings and drug abuse to common product choices. Although most cannabis products are illegal at the U.S. Federal level, it is legal in 30 states for medical use and 8 states and the District of Columbia for recreational use. Despite the legal issues, cannabis is projected to reach over $31 billion in sales world-wide by 2021. The industry is both rapidly evolving and highly fragmented, making it challenging for companies operating in the space to access the insights and the data to help design communications, product development and branding strategies. The research presented here will show that the application of social media listening can be helpful for cannabis brand marketers to gauge size, scope and nuances of these markets and tailored social media mining can accurately predict a brand’s future performance. Peri-prosthetic femoral fractures in total knee arthroplasty : experience using minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis

Antecedentes: La fractura periprótesica de fémur en artroplastia total de rodilla supone unode los mayores retos quirúrgicos. La tasa de complicaciones generales supera el 30% tanto contratamiento conservador como con el quirúrgico.Parece que la técnica de osteosíntesis con placas bloqueadas de manera mínimamenteinvasiva ofrece buenos resultados para el tratamiento de las fracturas en las que no existemovilización del componente femoral.Métodos: Se estudian retrospectivamente, desde enero de 2005 hasta diciembre del 2011,32 pacientes, evaluando el tiempo de consolidación, el rango de movilidad, la deambulacióny el alineamiento final mediante la realización de telemetrías en carga. El seguimiento mediofue de 56,5 meses (25-144).Resultados: Se siguieron 32 pacientes (31 mujeres; un hombre) de los cuales el rango medio deedad fue de 77 a?nos (70-89). Tres pacientes fallecieron (9%) y 4 pacientes (12%) se perdieronen la evolución final.La tasa media de consolidación fue de 16,5 semanas (8-24); no se produjeron infecciones,presentaron 3 seudoartrosis y solo se produjo un alineamiento en excesivo valgo (15?). El balancearticular fue similar al previo a la fractura. La deambulación final fue igual a la previa en 24 delos 25 casos
