New bounds on lepton flavor violating decays of vector mesons and the Z0 boson
We give an estimate for the upper bounds on rates of lepton flavor violating
(LFV) decays M to mu(pm) + e(mp) of vector mesons M = rho0, omega, phi, J/psi,
Upsilon and the Z0 boson in a model independent way, analyzing the
corresponding lowest dimension effective operators. These operators also
contribute to nuclear mu-e-conversion. Based on this observation and using the
existing experimental limits on this LFV nuclear process, we show that the
studied two-body LFV decays of vector bosons are strongly suppressed
independent on the explicit realization of new physics. The upper limits on the
rates of some of these decays are significantly more stringent than similar
limits known in the literature. In view of these results experimental
observation of the two-body LFV decays of vector bosons looks presently
unrealistic.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

The Pulsar Wind Nebula Around PSR B1853+01 in the Supernova Remnant W44
We present radio observations of a region in the vicinity of the young pulsar
PSR B1853+01 in the supernova remnant W44. The pulsar is located at the apex of
an extended feature with cometary morphology. We argue on the basis of its
morphology and its spectral index and polarization properties that this is a
synchrotron nebula produced by the spin down energy of the pulsar. The geometry
and physical parameters of this pulsar-powered nebula and W44 are used to
derive three different measures of the pulsar's transverse velocity. A range of
estimates between 315 and 470 km/s are derived, resulting in a typical value of
375 km/s. The observed synchrotron spectrum from radio to X-ray wavelengths is
used to put constraints on the energetics of the nebula and to derive the
parameters of the pulsar wind.Comment: ApJ Let (in press
Education as a leading factor in the development of society
At present, the universities of Russia have accumulated a vast experience in teaching various disciplines. However, this experience is often not beyond separate educational institutions and departments. And many young teachers are keenly lack the scientific and methodical lessons and the need for accumulation of methodological experience. The purpose of the educational activity consists in both assimilation selected knowledge, experience that mankind has developed, and in improving knowledge, skills and habits. In order to rationalize the methods of educational activity, to find the best ways to solve educational problems, innovative methods of teaching developed. Educational game is one of the methods of active learning and is widely used in the educational process. Nevertheless, the practice of using educational games in teaching at the law faculty is rare at the time when domestic and foreign pedagogy indicate that active learning technologies, including educational games, contribute to the formation of cognitive and professional motives and interests of trainee
Fragmentation cross sections of O-16 between 0.9 and 200 GeV/nucleon
Inclusive cross sections for high energy interactions at 0.9, 2.3, 3.6, and 13.5 GeV/nucleon of O-16 with C, CR-39 (C12H18O7), CH2, Al, Cu, Ag, and Pb targets were measured. The total charge-changing cross sections and partial charge-changing cross sections for the production of fragments with charge Z = 6 and Z = 7 are compared to previous experiments at 60 and 200 GeV/nucleon. The contributions of Coulomb dissociation to the total cross sections are calculated. Using factorization rules the partial electromagnetic cross sections are separated from the nuclear components. Energy dependence of both components are investigated and discussed
