The author presents in the text for the first time the late Hallstatt site at Zbelava – Pod Lipom. He dedicates special attention to a bronze fibula of the Velem type found in the settlement, as well as to the relations of Croatian Podravina with the territory of western Pannonia in the late phase of the early Iron Age, implied by this and certain other finds. A brief review is given in the paper of the results of interdisciplinary research carried out on the archaeological material from this important site in Podravina

This paper presents the archaeological site of Međuriče, in Torčec, in the Podravina region around Koprivnica. Great attention is given to the results of test archaeological investigations carried out at this lowland site by the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb in 2007, as well as to the material collected by the Zvijerac brothers, local amateur archaeologists, in their surveys of the site over a number of years. At the same time the results of interdisciplinary analyses carried out on the samples collected during the test excavation are presented. All the data are brought together in a sketch which outlines a new lowland settlement in Podravina from the Early Iron Age

Since 1997 Institute for Archaeology has been systematically excavating the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age settlement in Nova Bukovica, at the Sjenjak site. So far a surface of almost 1800 m2 has been unearthed, with sunken buildings which were parts of the infrastructure of the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age settlement. An extremely significant find within the context of the Bronze Age settlement are the remains of the building above ground (House 1) with a storage pit inside the building, whereas in the structure of the La Téne settlement numerous canals of different sizes stand out. During excavations in 2004 it was noted that the canals probably mark the borders of the La Téne settlement, and that close to them there are pits with heavily packed filling, almost without moveable archaeological finds, which at present we have interpreted as clay extraction pits. The movable archaeological finds from 2004 confirm the earlier dating of the La Téne settlement (purple glass armlet), whereas in one of the La Téne pits, along with certain other still undetermined iron artifacts, iron dross appears. In addition to bronze dross lumps from the Late Bronze Age facilities, this is additional proof of metallurgy at the archaeological site in Nova Bukovica

During activities within “Monumentalized Early Iron Age Landscapes in the Danube river basin” (“Iron-Age-Danube” Interreg DTP), an international project involving the Institute of Archaeology from Zagreb along with partners from five Central European countries, the archaeological team of the Institute of Archaeology determined that one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in Croatia and one of the few giant unexplored prehistoric burial mounds in Central Europe had been robbed and severely damaged during the robbery. In winter 2017 already, Gomila in Jalžabet was the subject of emergency rescue excavations, which continued in 2018 and 2019. Such circumstances did not hinder the Institute of Archaeology in 2019 from implementing the obligations arising from the inclusion in the Iron-Age-Danube Interreg DTP project. The intense use of non-invasive analytical methods obtained much new information on the archaeological landscape in Jalžabet, but also on other archaeological sites and monuments throughout the micro-region. Within the project, an archaeological/tourist trail with bilingual inscriptions was set up along the Bistričak stream in 2019

Hitna zaštitna istraživanja jalžabetske Gomile i cijeloga arheološkog krajolika uz potok Bistričak odlično se uklapaju u podtemu A4: Ritual unutar Strategije znanstvene djelatnosti Instituta. In September 2017, during the implementation of “Monumentalized Early Iron Age Landscapes in the Danube river basin”, an international project involving the Institute of Archaeology from Zagreb along with partners from five Central European countries, the archaeological team of the Institute of Archaeology determined that one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in Croatia and one of the few giant unexplored prehistoric burial mounds in Central Europe had been robbed and severely damaged during the robbery. At the time of writing, the police investigation is complete and the suspects in this serious culturocide are awaiting the start of the trial. Because of the danger of further damage to this archaeological monument, the intervention funds of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia were used by the Institute of Archaeology to start emergency rescue excavations at Gomila in Jalžabet in early winter 2017 already, and to continue them in 2018 and 2019. The excavations in the structure of the Gomila grave chamber and the work on the dromos were continued during 2019. A small trench was opened on the eastern slope of the large tumulus, and flotation and sieving were continued of the archaeological layers from the excavations. The urgent rescue excavations of the Jalžabet Gomila and the entire archaeological landscape along the Bistričak stream fit perfectly into the sub-theme A4: Ritual within the Strategy of the Scientific Activity of the Institute

In 2007, as in the previous years, the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb continued systematic archaeological excavations of the settlements from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages in Nova Bukovica on the Senjak site in Podravina, south-east from Slatina. The excavations were continued on the same cadastre plot as in the previous years, on the southern slope of an elevation, east from the area on which in the previous years we found rectangular above-earth structures (5 in all) and a cattle pen, all from the La Tène period. In the course of explorations we discovered a number of new archaeological structures, among which the most numerous continue to be pillar holes. However, among the structures explored this year, of special importance is a pit dwelling of a simple, irregularly circular ground plan, with a trough-shaped bottom which deepens in the north-eastern part (Fig. 1). In its backfill we found characteristic material, among which there is a profiled, deep bowl decorated with vertical ribs and lines of warts on the widest part of the body (Fig. 2). The pit dwelling belongs to the Late Bronze Age and is the first such object explored on Sjenjak. Likewise, this year we had finds of waste pits, especially those with finds of Late La Tène culture. These are larger, deeper pits with an abundance of finds (a whetstone, rustic pottery, highly profiled edges of vessels…). Among other finds, along with a lot of mostly rough, home use pottery, we should single out a renewed find of lumps of slag, stone masticator, ceramic whorls and one beautifully preserved bronze ring with closed ends reminding of a temporal ornament

In 2005, the Institute of Archaeology continued systematic excavations of the settlement from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages in Nova Bukovica at the Sjenjak site. The excavations of 2005 confirmed the assumption that the canals probably mark the borders of the La Tène settlement, as well as another at least two periods of the late La Tène settlement. Particularly significant is the excavation of remains of new late La Tène rectangular house: their number on this site reaching five. The find of a whole sequence of parallel, deeper entrenched independent channels is also important, which probably are part of the peripheral part of the Late Bronze Age settlement, the centre of which was probably located during the excavations from 1997 to 2000 at the top of the elevation on which the site is situated
