Sinebrychoffin lavansiirtovaunujen uusiminen tulee olemaan ajankohtaista vuonna 2016 aiemman käyttösopimuksen umpeutumisen takia. Vuoden 2016 aikana Sinebrychoffilla ollaan uusimassa yhteensä yli 80 lavansiirtovaunua. This Bachelor’s thesis was commissioned by Sinebrychoff Supply Company Ltd. The main objective was to carry out comprehensive research for Sinebrychoff about the procurement of new pallet trucks for the company and also to accomplish competitive tendering with pallet truck suppliers, which were Jungheinrich Lift Truck Ltd., Toyota Material Handling Finland and Wihuri Ltd. In 2016, the procurement of pallet trucks will be current due to the expiration of the present contract. During the year 2016, Sinebrychoff plans to replace more than 80 of the existing pallet trucks. The results of this Bachelor’s thesis will be utilized not only in Sinebrychoff’s decision-making in procurement, but also in making a new contract. The current state of the following factors was analyzed, i.e. Sinebrychoff’s dispatching and receiving areas, terminals, current pallet trucks and the related functions. Also new solutions were suggested to the identified defects in these operations. The new solution suggestions were related to layout changes, pallet trucks’ accessories and the Fleet Management System. In addition, the benefits of pallet trucks’ equipment and their profitability for the company were analyzed. When the pallet truck suppliers were compared, a test group was chosen from Sinebrychoff’s distribution entrepreneurs and logistics employees. Practical tests and interviews were carried out with the test group members. The members also evaluated all the tested pallet truck models which were used in the comparative analysis. It was also discovered in practical tests that the loading docks of the dispatch area required renovation. As a result, Jungheinrich Lift Truck Ltd. is recommended for Sinebrychoff as the future pallet truck supplier after the competitive tendering on the basis of the results of practical tests, Fleet Management Systems, contracts and other related components. Furthermore, with the future acquisitions the quantity of pallet trucks can be reduced with 15 units due to distribution reductions. When administration changes are considered, rental costs could be allocated to Sinebrychoff’s distribution organization

Computational optimisation of test specimen for planar shear strength tests of wood based panels

    No full text
This publication describes a computational optimisation procedure to improve the performance of a test specimen design for testing of planar shear strength of wood based panels. The optimisation is based on the existing method and specimen design that is given in an appendix to the European standard EN789. As the first step, the EN789 specimen was analysed, i.e. the stress distributions were calculated and performance assessed. Calculations were made using FEM with two-dimensional modelling. Based on the results of the analysis and the discovered weaknesses, the geometry of the specimen was step by step improved in the subsequent analyses to amend the weaknesses. As a result of the optimisation procedure, a new specimen design is suggested. The method of testing with the new design is the same as with the existing EN789 method, but the specimen geometry has been modified. As with the existing method, the new method allows determination of shear modulus value in addition to shear strength

Deletion of the Laminin α4 Chain Leads to Impaired Microvessel Maturation

    No full text
The laminin α4 chain, a component of laminin-8 and -9, is expressed in basement membranes, such as those beneath endothelia, the perineurium of peripheral nerves, and around developing muscle fibers. Laminin α4-null mice presented with hemorrhages during the embryonic and neonatal period and had extensive bleeding and deterioration of microvessel growth in experimental angiogenesis, as well as mild locomotion defects. Histological examination of newborn mice revealed delayed deposition of type IV collagen and nidogen into capillary basement membranes, and electron microscopy showed discontinuities in the lamina densa. The results demonstrate a central role for the laminin α4 chain in microvessel growth and, in the absence of other laminin α chains, in the composition of endothelial basement membranes

Track Reconstruction with Cosmic Ray Data at the Tracker Integration Facility

    No full text
The subsystems of the CMS silicon strip tracker were integrated and commissioned at the Tracker Integration Facility (TIF) in the period from November 2006 to July 2007. As part of the commissioning, large samples of cosmic ray data were recorded under various running conditions in the absence of a magnetic field. Cosmic rays detected by scintillation counters were used to trigger the readout of up to 15\,\% of the final silicon strip detector, and over 4.7~million events were recorded. This document describes the cosmic track reconstruction and presents results on the performance of track and hit reconstruction as from dedicated analyses
