Additionally to an account of this event the following article contains speeches of Edith Stumpf-Fischer, Waltraud Heindl and Ilse Korotin on accomplishing this lexicon and its relevance to feminist historiography in Austria

Am 20.Mai 2016 wurde in den Räumen der österreichischen Präsidentschaftskanzlei „biografiA: Lexikon österreichischer Frauen“ von Bundespräsident Heinz Fischer persönlich der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. Neben einem Bericht über diese Veranstaltung beinhaltet der vorliegende Beitrag die Reden von Edith Stumpf-Fischer, Waltraud Heindl und Ilse Korotin über das Zustandekommen und die Bedeutung dieses Werkes für die feministische Geschichtsschreibung in Österreich

Biografien bedeutender österreichischer Wissenschafterinnen

This volume follows the results of the dictionary  "Wissenschafterinnen in und aus Österreich. Leben – Werk – Wirken" from 2002, in which the field of activities of the first generation of female scientists at austrian universities and in non-university workplaces were researched among other things. The present collection is now mostly focused on woman-specific acting of female scientists after 1945 (years of birth between 1930 and 1950, including an addition of earlier years). The emphasis in terms of time furthermore includes theoretical and personnel effects of the second feminist movement, developed in universities in the 1970s out of woman-specific problems in the fields of science

Making Women Visible. biografiA - Biographical Database and Lexicon of Austrian Women

Das multimodulare Dokumentations-, Forschungs- und Vernetzungsprojekt biografiA. Datenbank und Lexikon österreichischer Frauen hat die umfassende historisch-biografische Aufarbeitung österreichischer Frauenpersönlichkeiten zum Ziel. Es ist die erste Datenbank und das erste Lexikon, das sich ausschließlich mit Frauen in und aus Österreich beschäftigt. Der erfasste Zeitraum erstreckt sich von der Erstbenennung Österreichs bis in die Gegenwart und wurde mit dem jeweiligen historischen Grenzen Österreichs festgelegt. Seit 1998 wurden rund 22.000 Biografien in die öffentlich zugängliche Datenbank aufgenommen. biografiA soll der Fachwelt sowie der interessierten Öffentlichkeit einen umfassenden Überblick über viele Jahrhunderte österreichischer Frauengeschichte gewähren und vielfältige Einblicke in die kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhänge der jeweiligen Epoche ermöglichen.The multi-modular documentation-, research- and networking- project biografiA. Database and Lexicon of Austrian Women aims to build an extensive historical and biographical database of Austrian female personalities. It is the first database and encyclopedia exclusively covering women in and from Austria. biografiA covers the time period from the first reference of Austria as a state up to the present day, the geographical borders have been defined according to the national territory of each time period. Since 1998 about 22.000 biographies have been incorporated into the publicly accessible database of biografiA.
