RF-Magnetron sputtering of Si3N4 and study of Si3N4/p-Si heterostructures
Here we report the feasibility of using cheap and environmentally friendly RF-magnetron sputtering of Si3N4 and formation of Si3N4 nanostructured films with developed surface. p-Si(100) polished plates commonly used in photovoltaic structures were chosen as a substrate. Si3N4 film surface morphology was studied using atomic force microscop
Structure of the Wake of a Magnetic Obstacle
We use a combination of numerical simulations and experiments to elucidate
the structure of the flow of an electrically conducting fluid past a localized
magnetic field, called magnetic obstacle. We demonstrate that the stationary
flow pattern is considerably more complex than in the wake behind an ordinary
body. The steady flow is shown to undergo two bifurcations (rather than one)
and to involve up to six (rather than just two) vortices. We find that the
first bifurcation leads to the formation of a pair of vortices within the
region of magnetic field that we call inner magnetic vortices, whereas a second
bifurcation gives rise to a pair of attached vortices that are linked to the
inner vortices by connecting vortices.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, corrected two typos, accepted for PR
Magnetically stable zero-bias anomaly in Andreev contact to the magnetic Weyl semimetal CoSnS
Being encouraged by the interplay between topology, superconductivity and
magnetism, we experimentally investigate charge transport through the interface
between the Nb superconductor and the time-reversal symmetry breaking Weyl
semimetal CoSnS. In addition to the proximity induced
superconducting gap, we observe several subgap features, among which the most
interesting is the prominent subgap zero-bias anomaly, absolutely stable
against external magnetic fields up to the critical field of Nb. As the
promising scenario for the zero-bias anomaly to appear in transport
characteristics, we consider the proximity induced zero-energy Andreev bound
states interfaced with the half-metallic CoSnS and influenced by
the strong spin-orbit coupling and large Zeeman splitting
Study of high temperature and high density plasmoids in axially symmetrical magnetic fields
Within the framework of an Institutional Partnership of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics Novisibirsk (BINP) and Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf worked together in a joint project devoted to the research at the coupled GDT-SHIP facility of the BINP with the focus on the study of plasma phenomena within the SHIP mirror section. The project began at July 1st, 2005 and ended on August 30th, 2008. It included work packages of significant theoretical, computational and analyzing investigations. The focus of this final report is on the presentation of results achieved whereas the work that was done is described briefly only. Chapter 2 illustrates the GDT-SHIP facility and describes shortly the planned topics of the SHIP plasma research. Chapter 3 explains the main extensions and modifications of the Integrated Transport Code System (ITCS) which were necessary for the calculations of the fast ion and neutral gas particle fields in SHIP, describes briefly the scheme of computations and presents significant results of pre-calculations from which conclusions were drawn regarding the experimental program of SHIP. In chapter 4, the theoretical and computational investigations of self-organizing processes in two-component plasmas of the GDT-SHIP device are explained and the results hitherto achieved are presented. In chapter 5, significant results of several experiments with moderate and with enhanced plasma parameters are presented and compared with computational results obtained with the ITCS. Preparing neutron measurements which are planned for neutron producing experiments with deuterium injection, Monte Carlo neutron transport calculations with the MCNP code were also carried out. The results are presented. Finally, from the results obtained within the joint research project important conclusions are drawn in chapter 6
LABOR PRODUCTIVITY AS A PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY FACTOR
Of the goal of this investigation is to study the efficiency factor and labor productivity. Production, Structure and Properties of Coatings Based on Al₂O₃ Obtained by Magnetron Method
Al₂O₃ and Al₂O₃/ZrO₂ multilayer coatings were deposited by the magnetron method by sputtering the corresponding metal targets in a mixture of oxygen and argon gases. The microstructure of the cross sections to determine the thickness and elemental composition of the obtained coatings was studied by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The surface morphology of Al₂O₃ coating samples was studied by scanning probe microsco
