The Rise of Christianity is one of a series of anthologies, "Turning Points in World History." The series aims to describe past events that have had "effects and outcomes that change the course of history." This example comprises an introductory essay on the early history of Christianity (down to c. 604); nineteen seminal scholarly essays with contextualizing introductions for each; a selection of primary sources; a secondary bibliography; and an index. The essays range from discussions of the Jewish and Roman contexts of Jesus's life to a brief survey of Christianity since c. 600

Nardo, The Fall Of The Roman Empire

This short book is one of a series of "Opposing Viewpoints Digests" published by Greenhaven Press. The series aims to present "thought-provoking argument and stimulating debate" on various topics. This example succeeds admirably. It begins with "A Short History of Rome's Fall," which presents the facts and chronology of events with as little interpretation and opinion as possible. Similarly, the appendices to the book provide longer quotations from primary and secondary sources quoted briefly in the text, as well as a timeline of events, the chronology of Roman emperors, and an annotated bibliography. Between these two information sections, four explanations of Rome's fall are presented: changes in population, internal (class and religious) disunity, economic decay, and invasion and military conquest. A fifth chapter proposes that "Rome Did Not Fall in the Fifth Century." Within each chapter, three different views are presented. For example, in Chapter 1, "Changes in Population Caused Rome's Fall," the subdivisions are as follows: "Manpower Shortages Weakened the Empire," "Intermarriage Led to Rome's Fall," and "Intermarriage Played No Part in Rome's Decline and Fall." The viewpoints are summarized by Don Nardo, with ample questions from various historians. Nardo writes clearly and succinctly, and he glosses the vocabulary of his quotations in a way that should make them accessible even for students whose vocabulary is limited

The Tribological Characteristics of the Corrosion-Resistant Materials

The theoretical part includes the separation of rustfree materials, describes the signification of friction during forming and characterize the tribology and the tribological tests. In the experimental part there are realized the tribological tests according to the specified technological conditions and their evaluation is carried out on a basis of the friction coefficient. This coefficient is determined as the criterion of the tribological characteristics whose description is inseparable from the drawing process.Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou zjišťování tribologických vlastností u korozivzdorných materiálů. Teoretická část obsahuje rozdělení nerezových materiálů, popisuje význam tření při tváření a charakterizuje tribologii a tribologické zkoušky. The development of the town of Nymburk

bakalářské práce 19. století charakteristické svojí průmyslovou revolucí, přineslo mnoho změn do života lidí. Nymburk, jakožto jedno z center středního Polabí, je příkladem, kdy průmysl, v Nymburce především železnice, změnil každodenní život obyvatel města. Úkolem práce je popsat klíčová odvětví a s tím i související události, které měly dopad na život místních obyvatel a zároveň stály za změnou dosud po staletí spíše venkovského městečka v moderní město. Práce začíná od nejstarších počátků města, aby mohla lépe ilustrovat doby rozmachu a období pádu města. Důraz je kladen tedy především na to, co se odehrálo v samotném Nymburce, byť to velmi často byly historické milníky pro celou zemi. Práce bude vycházet především z regionální historické a odborné literatury.The nineteenth century, characterized by its industrial revolution, has brought many changes to people's lives. Nymburk as one of the centers of the middle Polabí, is a example when industry has changed the everyday life of the city's inhabitants. The task of the thesis is to describe the key sectors and, consequently, related events that have had an impact on the lives of the local population, and at the same time they have been a change for many centuries, rather, a rural town in an industrial city. The work starts from the earliest beginnings of the city to better illustrate the boom times and the fall of the city. Emphasis is placed above all on what took place in Nymburk itself, although it was very often the historical milestones for the whole country. Remote particle filter functionality check by roadside measurement

Práce se zabývá detekcí vozidel s nadměrnými emisemi pomocí dálkového měření koncentrace částic a CO2 ve vzorku ovzduší odebíraném v blízkosti projíždějících vozidel. V pilotním experimentu byl potvrzen možný přínos vzorkování ze středu jízdního pruhu. Vyhodnocením dat z experimentální kampaně projektu CARES bylo zjištěno, že po průjezdu jsou zachyceny částice převážně o průměru od 12 do 192 nm. Dále bylo zjištěno, že nejdelší doba zvýšených koncentrací částic po průjezdu vozidla byla 7 sekund. V porovnání umístění vzorkovací sondy se ukázalo, že mnohem spolehlivější pro záchyt vozidla s nadměrnými emisemi je vzorkování ze středu jízdního pruhu oproti okraji vozovky. Při porovnání dvou klasifikátorů částic bylo zjištěno, že fotoakustický analyzátor je velmi citlivý na tlakové rázy a oproti klasifikátoru na bázi mobility v elektrickém poli jsou jeho hodnoty více rozptýlené. Z porovnání vlivu typu akcelerace vozidla na záchyt částic se ukázalo, že pouze v některých případech přispívá sportovnější akcelerace k jistějšímu záchytu vozidla s nadměrnými emisemi. Data potvrzují, že při větších rozestupech než 7 sekund může být dálkové měření emisí použitelné pro ověření funkce filtru částic. Detailnějším rozborem se zabývá kapitola Diskuze.In this thesis, data from remote sensing of vehicle emissions, done through roadside sampling of exhaust plumes of passinge vehicles, are analyzed. Based on a pilot experiment, it appears that sampling from the center of the travel line offers advantages over traditional sampling from the side of the road. From a week-long test track experiment within EU project CARES, it appears that partricle size distributions offer the highest signal to noise for particle diameters 12-192 nm, and that elevated concentrations of particulate matter after a passage of the vehicle were dectable for up to 7 seconds. A comparison of sampling point locations showed that sampling from the center of the travel line versus the edge of the road is much more reliable for catching a vehicle with excessive emissions. When comparing two particle classifiers, it was found that the photoacoustic analyzer is very sensitive to pressure shocks and, compared to the classifier based on mobility in the electric field, its values are more scattered. A comparison of the effect of the type of acceleration on the capturing particles concentrations showed that only in some cases sporty acceleration helps to capture a vehicle with excessive emissions. Heeft België nood aan een wijziging van art. 1385 BW? Een rechtsvergelijkend onderzoek met Duitsland, Frankrijk en Nederland

Deze masterproef handelt over de aansprakelijkheid voor dieren in het kader van art. 1385 BW. Tijdens mijn onderzoek naar de aansprakelijkheid voor dieren in België bleek dat het Belgische art. 1385 BW in zeer algemene bewoordingen is opgesteld wat tot veel discussies en rechtsonzekerheid leidt. Daarom heb ik in deze masterproef onderzocht of de aansprakelijkheid voor dieren in Duitsland, Frankrijk en Nederland beter/duidelijker geregeld is en heb ik bekeken of de buitenlandse regels een inspiratiebron kunnen zijn voor een wijziging van het Belgische art. 1385 BW

School Mobility Plan for the Gymnasium Rais, Hlinsko

Bakalářská práce se zabývá bezpečností pohybu žáků do/z Gymnázia K. V. Raise, Hlinsko, Adámkova 55. Cílem práce je analyzovat současný stav přístupnosti školy z hlediska pěší i automobilové dopravy a odhalit problémová místa. Na základě získaných podkladů dále navrhnout zlepšení, která povedou ke zvýšení bezpečnosti silničního provozu v okolí školy.This thesis deals with the safety of students moving to / from the high school K. V. Raise Hlinsko, Adámkova 55. The aim is to analyze the current state of accessibility of schools in terms of pedestrian and automobile traffic and detect trouble spots.
