Lisäksi tarkoituksena on selvittää, ovatko työssään voimistettua ääntä käyttävät henkilöt saaneet äänenkäyttöön liittyvää koulutusta.
Tutkielma perustuu kahdeksaan vuosina 2001–2021 julkaistuun tieteelliseen tutkimusartikkeliin.
The effect of phosphonates on lanthanide separation for surface-grafted porous zirconia
The effect of phosphonate groups on selective lanthanide sorption for a series of inorganic-organic hybrid materials was investigated. Four functional ligands with an increasing number of aminomethylenephosphonate groups were attached to the porous zirconia matrix via the post-synthetic grafting method. Successful surface grafting was confirmed by FTIR and P-31 MAS-NMR spectroscopies. All the synthesized hybrids showed a lanthanide uptake of about 100 mu mol g(-1) at pH 3. The sorption studies revealed that the hybrids of ligands with a larger number of phosphonate groups possess higher selectivity, as one with the largest number showed a separation factor of over 80 for La3+ and Lu3+. Fixed-bed column experiments also demonstrated the materials' favored uptake of Lu3+ over La3+ at pH 3, in addition to the reusability and applicability to the actual separation settings. These results propose strategies for the selection of organic ligands for hybrid sorbent synthesis.Peer reviewe
Cavitation inception of a van der Waals fluid at a sack-wall obstacle
Cavitation in a liquid moving past a constraint is numerically investigated
by means of a free-energy lattice Boltzmann simulation based on the van der
Waals equation of state. The fluid is streamed past an obstacle and, depending
on the pressure drop between inlet and outlet, vapor formation underneath the
corner of the sack-wall is observed. The circumstances of cavitation formation
are investigated and it is found that the local bulk pressure and mean stress
are insufficient to explain the phenomenon. Results obtained in this study
strongly suggest that the viscous stress, interfacial contributions to the
local pressure, and the Laplace pressure are relevant to the opening of a vapor
cavity. This can be described by a generalization of Joseph's criterion that
includes these contributions. A macroscopic investigation measuring mass flow
rate behavior and discharge coefficient was also performed. As theoretically
predicted, mass flow rate increases linearly with the square root of the
pressure drop. However, when cavitation occurs, the mass flow growth rate is
reduced and eventually it collapses into a choked flow state. In the cavitating
regime, as theoretically predicted and experimentally verified, the discharge
coefficient grows with the Nurick cavitation number
Neuronal activation stimulates cytomegalovirus promoter-driven transgene expression
The cytomegalovirus (CMV) immediate early promoter has been extensively developed and exploited for transgene expression in vitro and in vivo, including human clinical trials. The CMV promoter has long been considered a stable, constitutive and ubiquitous promoter for transgene expression. Using two different CMV-based promoters, we found an increase in CMV-driven transgene expression in the rodent brain and in primary neuronal cultures in response to methamphetamine, glutamate, kainic acid, and activation of G-protein coupled receptor signaling using designer receptors exclusively activated by designer drugs (DREADDs). In contrast, promoters derived from human synapsin 1 (hSyn1) gene or elongation factor 1a (EF1a) did not exhibit altered transgene expression in response to the same neuronal stimulation. Overall, our results suggest that the long standing assertion that the CMV promoter confers constitutive expression in neurons should be reevaluated and future studies should evaluate the activity of the CMV promoter in a given application.Peer reviewe
