A Proposal of Lean Design Integration Method for Hierarchical Architecture Type Product Systems (A Practical Lean Development Example in Domestic Refrigerator Energy Saving Design with a Combination of CAE, Real experiment and Humanistic collaboration)
In developing process for competitive commercial refrigerator/ air-conditioning system products, practical whole system integration method is very important to realize a compact product with high cost performance. These products are characterized by hierarchical architecture type module product systems. This paper proposes a practical lean development method which combines 1D and 3D-CAE analysis with human decision making process. A Model-based development method using product base platform is also proposed for realizing a practical product family series development. Finally, the effectiveness of this method is demonstrated quantitatively by applying to an energy saving type household refrigerator

Multi-drug therapy for epilepsy influenced bispectral index after a bolus propofol administration without affecting propofol's pharmacokinetics: a prospective cohort study
Some previous studies have indicated that valproate (VPA) might change the pharmacokinetics and enhance the effects of propofol. We evaluated whether clinical VPA therapy affected the propofol blood level, the protein-unbound free propofol level, and/or the anesthetic effects of propofol in the clinical setting. The subjects were divided into the control group (not medicated with antiepileptics), the mono-VPA group (medicated with VPA alone), and the poly-VPA group (medicated with VPA, other antiepileptics, and/or psychoactive drugs). General anesthesia was induced via the administration of a single bolus of propofol and a remifentanil infusion, and when the bispectral index (BIS) exceeded 60 sevoflurane was started. There were no significant differences in the total blood propofol level at 5, 10, 15, and 20 min or the protein-unbound free propofol level at 5 min after the intravenous administration of propofol between the 3 groups. However, the minimum BIS was significantly lower and the time until the BIS exceeded 60 was significantly longer in the poly-VPA group. In the multivariate regression analysis, belonging to the poly-VPA group was found to be independently associated with the minimum BIS value and the time until the BIS exceeded 60. Clinical VPA therapy did not influence the pharmacokinetics of propofol. However, multi-drug therapy involving VPA might enhance the anesthetic effects of propofol
Kaempulchraols IO: new isopimarane diterpenoids from Kaempferia pulchra rhizomes collected in Myanmar and their antiproliferative activity
The isolation of the CHCl3 soluble extract of Kaempferia pulchra rhizomes afforded seven new isopimarane diterpenoids, kaempulchraols I−O, together with one known analogue. The structures of these compounds were elucidated using 1D and 2D NMR and X-ray diffraction analyses. The antiproliferative activity of the isolated compounds was evaluated against a panel of five human cancer cell lines. Kaempulchraol L exhibited weak antiproliferative activity against PANC-1 and PSN-1 cells with IC50 values of 39.9 and 22.6 μM, respectively

Medial meniscus posterior root tear causes swelling of the medial meniscus and expansion of the extruded meniscus: a comparative analysis between 2D and 3D MRI
Purpose
This study aimed to clarify the advantages of three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) over two-dimensional (2D) MRI in measuring the size of the medial meniscus (MM) and to analyse the volumes of MM and the extruded meniscus in patients with MM posterior root tear (MMPRT), at 10° and 90° knee flexion.
Methods
This study included 17 patients with MMPRTs and 15 volunteers with uninjured knees. The MMs were manually segmented for 3D reconstruction; thereafter, the extruded part separated from the tibial edge was determined. The length, width, height, and extrusion of MM were measured by the 2D and 3D methods, and compared. The MM volume, extruded meniscus volume, and their ratio were also calculated using 3D analysis software in the two groups.
Results
The estimated length and posterior height of MM were larger with 3D MRI than with 2D MRI measurements. The MM volume was significantly greater in MMPRT knees than in normal knees, with increasing MM height. Conclusions
This study demonstrated that 3D MRI could estimate the precise MM size and that MMPRT caused swelling of the meniscus due to the increased thickness in the posteromedial part. The clinical significance of this study lies in its 3D evaluation of MM volume, which should help the surgeon understand the biomechanical failure of MM function and improve MMPRT repair technique

Local Probe Isomerization in a One-Dimensional Molecular Array
Synthesis of one-dimensional molecular arrays with tailored stereoisomers is
challenging yet has a great potential for application in molecular opto-,
electronic- and magnetic-devices, where the local array structure plays a
decisive role in the functional properties. Here, we demonstrate construction
and characterization of dehydroazulene isomer and diradical units in
three-dimensional organometallic compounds on Ag(111) with a combination of
low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory
calculations. Tip-induced voltage pulses firstly result in the formation of a
diradical species via successive homolytic fission of two C-Br bonds in the
naphthyl groups, which are subsequently transformed into chiral dehydroazulene
moieties. The delicate balance of the reaction rates among the diradical and
two stereoisomers, arising from an in-line configuration of tip and molecular
unit, allows directional azulene-to-azulene and azulene-to-diradical local
probe isomerization in a controlled manner. Furthermore, we found that the
diradical moiety hosts an open-shell singlet with antiferromagnetic coupling
between the unpaired electrons, which can undergo an inelastic spin transition
of 91 meV to the ferromagnetically coupled triplet state
Interferon-α suppresses hepatitis B virus enhancer II activity via the protein kinase C pathway
AbstractHBV has two enhancer (En) regions each of which promotes its own transcription. En II regulates production of pregenomic RNA, a key product of HBV replication, more strongly than En I. Although IFN-α has been found to suppress En I activity, its effect on En II activity has not been examined. Here we used luciferase assay to demonstrate that IFN-α suppresses En II activity. Analysis with several deletion/mutation constructs identified two major segments, nt 1703–1727 and nt 1746–1770, within the En II sequence as being responsible for the suppressive effects of IFN-α. Pre-treatment with protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitors blocked this effect regardless of the expression levels of phospho-STAT1 and Mx upon IFN-α stimulation. These results indicate that IFN-α suppresses En II activity via the PKC pathway, which may be an alternative suppressive pathway for HBV replication. (136 words)
