Laser action on acupuncture points is an alternative to traditional acupuncture. We used red semiconductor laser diodes with a wavelength of 650 nm. Three acupuncture points (GV20, LI4, P6) were selected to relieve headaches and reduce anxiety in the study. EEG data had been obtained from two siblings, one of whom is without pathologies of the nervous system (8 years), and the second has a diagnosis of autism (10 years). A significant increase in the total activity of the brain for ASD patients up to a value close to the brain activity of healthy patients was registered

The study of spectral changes in THz range in normal and pathological skin in vivo depending on the dehydration methods used

The terahertz (THz) attenuated total reflectance (ATR) imaging of normal and pathological skin under the action of various dehydration agents was carried out in vivo. Studies were conducted on animal models (the mouse), patients with diabetes, and healthy volunteers. For measurements, each animal was leaned against the ATR prism of the skin surface, and several locations in the skin of each animal were analyzed. Places on the skin for analysis were chosen so that the intensity spectra of the THz signal were practically the same for selected points. THz spectra measurements were carried out every 10 minutes within 45 minutes interval under the action of a dehydration agent. 40% glucose was shown to provide the most effective improving tissue optical clearing effect in the THz range

Magnetically controlled terahertz polarization-sensitive filter based on 5BDSR microparticle ferrofluid

The paper proposes the magnetically controlled polarization-sensitive filter operating in the range of 0.2 to 1.5 THz. This filter is based on the created magnetic fluid comprising 5BDSR (FeNbCuMoCoBSi) amorphous alloy particles 50 ΞΌm in size and synthetic motor oil 5W-40. It is shown that the particle control in the magnetic fluid assists in the creation of a diffraction grating equivalent

Differential diagnosis of paraffin-embedded tissues by IR-THz spectroscopy and machine learning

The ability of diagnostics of melanoma and nevus based on spectral analysis of paraffin-embedded tissues in the 0.3-1.5 terahertz (THz) range has been carried out. The principal component analysis was applied to reduce the dimension of the feature space. A comparison of these spectra shows evident differences between samples. The possibility of applying the optical clearing to paraffin-embedded tissue for improving the visualization of the internal structure of tissue for diagnostic and research purposes is shown. In the studies, a sufficiently strong effect of optical clearing of paraffin-embedded muscle was obtained (63%)

Label-free laser spectroscopy for respiratory virus detection: A review

    No full text
Infectious diseases are among the most severe threats to modern society. Current methods of virus infection detection based on genome tests need reagents and specialized laboratories. The desired characteristics of new virus detection methods are noninvasiveness, simplicity of implementation, real-time, low cost and label-free detection. There are two groups of methods for molecular biomarkers' detection and analysis: (i) a sample physical separation into individual molecular components and their identification, and (ii) sample content analysis by laser spectroscopy. Variations in the spectral data are typically minor. It requires the use of sophisticated analytical methods like machine learning. This review examines the current technological level of laser spectroscopy and machine learning methods in applications for virus infection detection
