    Analysis of the Efficiency PETSc and PETIGA Libraries in Solving the Problem of Crystal Growth

    We present an analysis of high performance computational method for solving the problem of crystal grows. The method uses PETSc and PETIGA C-language based libraries and supports parallel computing. The evolution of calculation process was studied in series of special computations are obtained on innovative mobile cluster platform, which provides exclusive system tuning abilities. The results of research confirm the high efficiency of the proposed algorithm on multi-core computer systems and allow us to recommend the use of PETSc and PETIGA for solving high order differential equations

    Introduction. The authors tackle the topical problem of assessing the conflict level between subidentical groups: “management academics” (professors and lectures staff) and “academic managers” (administrative managing staff). The aim of the paper is to construct a new method of quantitative assessment of the conflict level between professional groups generated by the organizational culture; to study the dynamics of the change in the conflict level between professional and age-based cohorts existing in Russian universities. Materials and Methods. In this study, the conflict level is defined as a difference of common cultural vectors found for each of target age-groups, demonstrating generations' behavioral features and their professional competence, set up as the result of analysis of expert assessments with the help of organizational culture methods developed by the Organizational Cultural Assessment Instrument of K. Сameron and R. Quinn. Empirical data are taken from sociological research involving 384 respondents from 18 universities representing 12 regions of the Russian Federation. Results. It is shown that activity of the considered target bunches is under significant influence of hierarchical (bureaucratic) organizational culture. This objective circumstance of proceeding transformation processes forms the basis for fragmentation of existing academic identity into those intra-university bunches which are combined both in terms of valuable patterns of generations and patterns formed under the influence of social and economic conditions. Interference of various age-grade valuable patterns under permanent current transformation invokes escalation of strife, its minimum level is reached in identical age-grades of professors and lectures staff (“management academics”) and administrative managing staff (“academic managers”). A certain influence on the level of conflicts between the target groups under consideration is produced by the degree of goals adequacy and objectives of the university available resources (competence, material, technical, and financial base). Discussion and Conclusion. The novelty of the conducted research lies in consideration of conflict problems in universities arisen from the increasing differentiation of general cultural vectors of university communities. Complex, sustainable and reproducible nature of this social phenomenon, linking together both value and behavioral aspects of university communities, requires a transformation of research tactics. The research materials might be useful in practical work of heads of universities as scientific and methodological recommendations for the study and prediction of conflict processes in universities. © 2019 National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University.     Нейровизуализационные особенности строения головного мозга у детей с детским церебральным параличом, полученные методом магнитно-резонансной трактографии

    Aim. To perform quantitative evaluation of the degree of white matter tract abnormalities in children with spastic cerebral palsy by magnetic resonance tractography to determine severity of the disease, as well as to carry out a dynamic assessment of treatment effectiveness.Materials and methods. The study included 46 children (32 males, 14 females; average age 5.4 ± 1.1 years). The participants were divided into two groups. The experimental group consisted of 23 children with spastic cerebral palsy. The control group included 23 children without any neurological disorder. Examination of the brain was performed on the Siemens Essenza 1,5 Т system (Siemens, Germany) and included magnetic resonance tractography to reconstruct the major white matter tracts. The number of fibers, average fractional anisotropy value, apparent diffusion coefficient, and coefficient of myelination of major white matter tracts in the brain were calculated and analyzed.Results. We found a significant difference in the above-stated parameters between the groups. The experimental group showed a decrease in the absolute number of fibers at the central and posterior segments of the corpus callosum, corticospinal tracts, and left inferior longitudinal fasciculus. Besides, we detected a decrease in fractional anisotropy at 2–5 segments of the corpus callosum and right lateral corticospinal tract, an increase in the apparent diffusion coefficient at 2, 4, and 5 segments of the corpus callosum and left lateral corticospinal tract, and a decrease in the myelination coefficient in all the examined tracts, except for superior longitudinal fasciculus. We revealed a positive correlation between the intensity of the motor disturbance and the coefficient of myelination at the anterior corpus callosum and inferior longitudinal fasciculus.Conclusion. Magnetic resonance tractography is an informative technique for unbiased evaluation of white matter tract anatomy, as well the level and degree of motor tract damage. The most useful characteristics of white matter tract anatomy are the absolute number of fibers in the tract, fractional anisotropy, and coefficient of myelination. Some of them correlated with the intensity of motor disturbance, so they can be regarded as potential predictors of rehabilitation potential. Цель. Количественная оценка степени нарушений развития проводящих путей головного мозга у детей со спастическими формами детского церебрального паралича (ДЦП) методами магнитно-резонансной (МР) трактографии для определения тяжести заболевания, а также оценка динамики эффективности лечения.Материалы и методы. Обследованы 46 детей 4–7 лет (средний возраст (5,4 ± 1,1) лет), из них 14 девочек (33%) и 32 мальчика (66%). Пациенты разделены на две группы. Исследуемую группу составили 23 пациента со спастическими формами ДЦП. В контрольную группу вошли 23 ребенка без неврологического дефицита. Исследование головного мозга проводилось на МР-томографе Siemens Essenza 1,5 Т (Siemens, Германия) и включало метод МР-трактографии. Были рассчитаны и обработаны: количество волокон, средний показатель фракционной анизотропии, коэффициент диффузии, коэффициент миелинизации основных проводящих путей головного мозга.Результаты. Выявлена достоверная разница указанных выше показателей между пациентами исследуемой и контрольной групп. У детей с ДЦП отмечалось снижение абсолютного количества волокон в области центральных и заднего сегментов мозолистого тела, кортикоспинальных трактов и левого нижнего продольного пучка. Также определялось снижение показателя фракционной анизотропии волокон в области 2–5-го сегментов мозолистого тела, правого кортикоспинального тракта; повышение коэффициента диффузии в области 2, 4, 5-го сегментов и левого кортикоспинального тракта; снижение коэффициента миелинизации во всех исследуемых трактах, за исключением верхних продольных пучков. Выявлена положительная корреляция между  выраженностью моторного дефицита и коэффициентом миелинизации в области переднего сегмента мозолистого тела и нижних продольных пучков.Заключение. МР-трактография является информативным методом объективной оценки организации проводящих путей головного мозга, уровня и степени поражения моторных трактов. Наиболее информативными характеристиками организации проводящих путей являются абсолютное количество волокон в тракте, показатель фракционной анизотропии, а также расчетный показатель – коэффициент миелинизации. Некоторые из выявленных изменений коррелировали с выраженностью моторного дефицита, что позволяет рассматривать их как потенциальные предикторы реабилитационного прогноза

    Лечение острых отравлений парацетамолом

    BACKGROUND Currently, despite the optimization of diagnostic methods in order to predict the development of liver damage, improvement of treatment protocols, paracetamol poisoning is a serious problem in medicine, being the most common cause of acute liver failure worldwide.AIM OF STUDY To determine the indications for the use of acetylcysteine in paracetamol poisoning and evaluate the effectiveness of the 21-hour protocol for its administration.MATERIAL AND METHODS We examined 20 patients with acute paracetamol poisoning (15 women and 5 men), the median age was 21.5 (19.8–32.3) years. ALT and AST were assessed during the entire period of stay in the hospital, the time period from the moment of taking paracetamol to hospitalization and the beginning of the administration of ACC, the concentration of paracetamol in the blood, and mortality. According to the level of ALT and AST in the blood, the patients were divided into 2 groups: Group I consisted of 14 patients, in whom the concentration of ALT and AST during the entire observation period did not exceed 50 U/L; in Group II (6 patients), an increase in the level of ALT and AST in the blood of more than 50 U/L was observed. To assess the risk of liver lesion, the Rumack-Matthew nomogram was used. To compare the concentrations of paracetamol in the blood of patients, the paracetamol index was used.RESULTS It was found that in 10 patients with a high risk of liver damage, who were treated with a 21-hour regimen of ACC administration, no hepatotoxic effect was found. The use of ACC according to a 21-hour protocol in patients with initially elevated ALT and AST levels of more than 50 U/L (n = 4) (25%) led to a rapid positive dynamics of laboratory and clinical parameters. It was found that in 2 patients, despite the introduction of ACC, the development of liver damage was observed. At the same time, the level of paracetamol in their blood was 6.6 and 10.6 fold higher than the “therapeutic” line of the nomogram, and the time from the moment of taking the drug to the beginning of the administration of ACC was 8 and 20 hours. High risk factors for the development of hepatotoxic effect in case of paracetamol poisoning are the time range from the moment of taking the drug to the beginning of the administration of ACC and the value of the paracetamol index.CONCLUSION Indications for the use of acetylcysteine in acute poisoning with paracetamol is a high risk of liver damage. Its criteria are high doses, increased concentrations of ALT and AST when patients are admitted to the hospital; if it is possible to determine the concentration of paracetamol in the blood, an increase in the value of the paracetamol index is more than 1. The use of a 21-hour protocol of intravenous administration of acetylcysteine is effective in case of paracetamol poisoning and its early use in the complex of treatment almost always prevents the development of acute liver failure.ВВЕДЕНИЕ В настоящее время, несмотря на оптимизацию методов диагностики с целью прогноза развития поражения печени и совершенствование протоколов лечения, отравление парацетамолом представляет серьезную проблему в медицине, являясь наиболее частой причиной острой печеночной недостаточности во всем мире.ЦЕЛЬ Определить показания к применению ацетилцистеина (АЦЦ) при отравлениях парацетамолом и оценить эффективность 21-часового протокола его введения.МАТЕРИАЛ И МЕТОДЫ Обследованы 20 пациентов с острым отравлением парацетамолом (15 женщин и 5 мужчин), медиана возраста — 21,5 (19,8–32,3) года. Была проведена оценка уровня аланин- (АЛТ) и аспар­татаминотрансфераз (АСТ) в крови на протяжении всего периода нахождения в стационаре, временного диапазона от момента приема парацетамола до госпитализации в стационар и начала введения ацетилцистеина (АЦЦ), концентрации парацетамола в крови и летальности. По уровню АЛТ и АСТ в крови пациенты были разделены на две группы: I группу составили 14 больных, у которых концентрация АЛТ и АСТ в течение всего периода наблюдения не превышала 50 Ед/л; у пациентов II группы (6 больных) отмечали увеличение уровня АЛТ и АСТ в крови более 50 Ед/л. Для оценки риска поражения печени использовали номограмму Рамэка–Мэтью 150. Для сравнения концентрации парацетамола в крови больных был рассчитан индекс парацетамола.РЕЗУЛЬТАТЫ Выявлено, что у 10 пациентов с высоким риском поражения печени, которым в комплекс лечения входило применение 21-часовой схемы введения АЦЦ, гепатотоксический эффект отсутствовал. Использование АЦЦ по 21-часовому протоколу при исходно повышенных уровнях АЛТ и АСТ более 50 Ед/л (n=4) (25%) привело к быстрой положительной динамике лабораторных и клинических показателей. У 2 пациентов, несмотря на введение АЦЦ, наблюдали развитие поражения печени. При этом уровень парацетамола в крови у них был в 6,6 и 10,6 раза выше «лечебной» линии номограммы, а время от момента приема препарата до начала введения АЦЦ составило соответственно 8 и 20 часов. Факторами высокого риска развития гепатотоксического эффекта при отравлении парацетамолом являются: временной диапазон от момента приема препарата до начала введения АЦЦ и величина индекса парацетамола.ЗАКЛЮЧЕНИЕ Показанием к применению ацетилцистеина при острых отравлениях парацетамолом является высокий риск поражения печени. Его критериями служат высокие дозы принятого парацетамола, повышенные концентрации АЛТ и АСТ при поступлении больных в стационар, при наличии возможности определения концентрации парацетамола в крови — увеличение величины индекса парацетамола более 1. Применение 21-часового протокола внутривенного введения ацетилцистеина эффективно при отравлении парацетамолом и раннее его использование в комплексе лечения практически всегда предотвращает развитие острой печеночной недостаточности

    The effectiveness of parallelizing an algorithm of the PFC equation solution using PetIGA library

    The paper presents an algorithm for solving the equation of Phase Field Crystal (PFC) in a hyperbolic statement that allows to describe the phase transitions of metastable or unstable state at the nuclear density scale, described by a differential equation of the sixth order with respect to the space variable and the second order with respect to the time variable. The algorithm is based on the method of isogeometric analysis (IGA) and is implemented by PetIGA library. The resulting code allows parallel computations, which significantly speeds up the process of solving a problem. The effectiveness of used instruments during the calculations on high-performance computing clusters is evaluated. An analysis of the effectiveness of the current algorithm is carried out for heterogeneous computer systems

    Parametric X-ray radiation from powders

    Parametric X-ray Radiation (PXR) produced in powders has been observed for the first time. PXR spectra were measured under observation angles of 150°and 180°during the interaction of relativistic 7MeV electrons with a tungsten powder. All the PXR peaks that theoretically can be produced in the studied energy region were registered.
