Chatterbox
In the market, there are not many options or tools for people that once could speak. However, due to an accident or stroke, not only lost their voices and even some of their movements, but also sign language is not an option either. The issue is that whichever communication alternative that is available is either too expensive to use or too complicated for their actual situation such as google voice, notepads, general writing tools, etc. as each of them requires a little bit of work to manage.
Therefore we intended to ease speech-impaired peopleâs lives by designing and developing an application that speaks for them by only one touch. It is a user friendly application, with different interfaces divided according to its category such as Emergency, Fun, Greetings, Feelings and Daily Chat. Each interface displays its own set of buttons with different sentences, and each button plays out its corresponding sentence as soon as it is tapped. The sentences were recorded by us, applying different intonations so, it would give the application a better humanized form. We hope to make their lives easier, and give them back the possibility of expressing themselves in an easier way and keep up a steady conversation
Ethics in public management
This article aims to discuss the subject of ethics in the context of public organizations, built on two main pillars: the Brazilian Federal Constitution and the legal framework of the Ethics Management System of the Federal Executive Power. To carry out their duties, public servants, in addition to technical qualifications, need political and ethical skills. Laser therapy for genitourinary syndrome of menopause: systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trial
Abstract Objective: This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) aimed to update evidence on the effectiveness and safety of laser therapy for treating genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). Data sources: Manuscripts published until May 2023 were systematically searched in PubMed; Embase; Scopus; Web of Science; CENTRAL; CINAHL; and clinical trial databases (www.trialscentral.org, www.controlled-trials.com, and clinicaltrials.gov), with no language and year of publication restriction. Studies selection: RCTs with women diagnosed with GSM, and the intervention was vaginal laser therapy (CO2-laser or Er: YAG-laser) comparing with placebo (sham therapy), no treatment or vaginal estrogen therapy. Data collection: Two authors evaluated the publications for inclusion based on the title and abstract, followed by reviewing the relevant full-text articles. Disagreements during the review process were addressed by consensus, with the involvement of a third author. Data synthesis: Twelve RCTs, representing a total of 5147 participants, were included in this review. Vaginal health index (VHI) significantly improved in the carbon dioxide laser (CO2-laser) therapy group (MD=2.21; 95% CI=1.25 to 3.16), while dyspareunia (MD=â0.85; 95% CI=â1.59 to â0.10), dryness (MD=â0.62; 95% CI=â1.12 to â0.12) and burning (MD= â0.64; 95% CI=â1.28 to â0.01) decreased. No serious adverse effects were reported. Conclusion: CO2-laser increases VHI score and decreases dyspareunia, dryness and burning, especially when compared to sham-laser. However, the certainty of the evidence is low, thus preventing the recommendation of laser therapy for GSM management
EVALUATION INSTRUMENTS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH POLICIES FOR ELDERLY CARE: A COMPREHENSIVE SCOPING REVIEW PROTOCOL
Introduction: The global phenomenon of population aging is expanding rapidly, with the World Health Organization (WHO) projecting that the number of individuals aged 60 and over will reach 2 billion by 2050, a significant rise from 900 million in 2015. This pronounced growth poses substantial challenges to healthcare systems globally, necessitating the development of effective public policies to ensure adequate access to healthcare services for the elderly demographic. In this context, this scoping review aims to identify and map evaluation instruments regarding public health policies for the elderly worldwide.
Methods and Analysis: This scoping review protocol is developed in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute manual and guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Article searches will be conducted in the following databases: Embase, Medline/PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), and ScienceDirect. Additionally, searches will be performed on Google Scholar and in the gray literature (www.opengrey.eu). A descriptive analysis of the mapped studies will be conducted, categorizing them by analysis categories. The results will be presented through a narrative summary of the findings to examine how they correlate with the review's objective and research question
Drug therapies for obstructive sleep apnoea: a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol
Introduction Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a common disorder that can affect the quality of life and increase the risk for psychiatric, neurological and cardiometabolic diseases. Despite the significant burden, it poses on health and well-being, there is a lack of evidence regarding the use of drug therapies in these patients. This work aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pharmacological treatment alternatives for patients with OSA.Methods and analysis Databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, SciELO, LILACS, Scopus, Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials and ClinicalTrials.gov, will be used for the search. A search strategy was developed to retrieve clinical trials that have evaluated polysomnographic primary outcome (Apnoea-Hypopnoea index) and secondary outcomes (eg, daytime sleepiness, adverse events) of any drug therapy used for OSA. No date or language restrictions will be applied. Two authors will independently select the studies meeting the inclusion criteria by screening the title, abstract and full text. Data will be extracted, and the risk of bias will be evaluated using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. Review Manager V.5.4.1 will be used for data synthesis. The Grading of Recommendation Assessment, Development and Evaluation will be used to assess the strength of the evidence.Ethics and dissemination As a review of published data, it is not necessary to obtain ethical approval. The findings of this systematic review will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.PROSPERO registration number CRD42022362639
Prevalence of complications associated with the use of a peripherally inserted central catheter in newborns: A systematic review protocol.
BackgroundThe improper handling of a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) in newborns (NBs) may result in mechanical and infectious complications.AimThe aim of this systematic review (SR) is to estimate the prevalence of complications associated with the use of PICC in NBs.MethodsWe will utilize PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and Google Scholar for the databases search. There will be no restrictions on the search for languages, and observational studies will be selected wherein the prevalence rate of complications associated with the use of PICC in NBs has been presented or can be calculated. The systematic review will follow the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. Two reviewers will independently select studies and assess their eligibility using predefined criteria. Using standardized forms, two other reviewers will independently extract data from each included study, and the random-effects pooled prevalence will be calculated in the meta-analysis with the respective 95% confidence intervals. The methodological quality of the studies will be assessed using the modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Review Manager V.5.3.5 will be used for the qualitative and quantitative synthesis. A protocol was developed and published on PROSPERO (Registration number CRD42020211983).Expected resultsThis SR will show the prevalence of complications caused by the inadequate management of PICC in NBs, which is information considered important for clinical practice improvement
