A Brief Survey of Recent Edge-Preserving Smoothers
We introduce recent and very recent smoothing methods and discuss them in the common framework of `energy functions'. Focus is on the preservation of boundaries, spikes and canyons in presence of noise

Inducing an optical Feshbach resonance via stimulated Raman coupling
We demonstrate a novel method of inducing an optical Feshbach resonance based
on a coherent free-bound stimulated Raman transition. In our experiment atoms
in a Rb87 Bose-Einstein condensate are exposed to two phase-locked Raman laser
beams which couple pairs of colliding atoms to a molecular ground state. By
controlling the power and relative detuning of the two laser beams, we can
change the atomic scattering length considerably. The dependence of scattering
length on these parameters is studied experimentally and modelled
theoretically.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, submitted to PR
Weak localization in mesoscopic hole transport: Berry phases and classical correlations
We consider phase-coherent transport through ballistic and diffusive
two-dimensional hole systems based on the Kohn-Luttinger Hamiltonian. We show
that intrinsic heavy-hole light-hole coupling gives rise to clear-cut
signatures of an associated Berry phase in the weak localization which renders
the magneto-conductance profile distinctly different from electron transport.
Non-universal classical correlations determine the strength of these Berry
phase effects and the effective symmetry class, leading even to
antilocalization-type features for circular quantum dots and Aharonov-Bohm
rings in the absence of additional spin-orbit interaction. Our semiclassical
predictions are quantitatively confirmed by numerical transport calculations
Berücksichtigung von Börsenkursen bei der Ermittlung von Barabfindungen im Rahmen von aktienrechtlichen Strukturmaßnahmen
-- Due to judicial decisions the stock market prices are deemed to be the lower value limit in determining the compensations within structural measures according to German stock corporation law (e.g. squeeze-out of minority stockholders). By applying other valuation methods, in particular the income approach, a higher value than the stock market price could be relevant to fix the amount of compensation. The paper analyzes expert reports on determining the adequate compensation. The study is supposed to provide an insight into the valuation practice in the recent past.Barabfindung,Börsenkurs,Beherrschungs- und Gewinnabführungsvertrag,Aktienrecht,Strukturmaßnahmen,Ertragswert,Rechtsprechung,Compensation,Stock Market Price,Squeeze-out,Control and Profit and Loss Transfer Agreement,German Stock Corporation Law,Income Approach,Judicature
