    Leading infrared logarithms for sigma-model with fields on arbitrary Riemann manifold

    We derive non-linear recursion equation for the leading infrared logarithms (LL) in four dimensional sigma-model with fields on an arbitrary Riemann manifold. The derived equation allows one to compute leading infrared logarithms to essentially unlimited loop order in terms of geometric characteristics of the Riemann manifold. We reduce the solution of the SU(oo) principal chiral field in arbitrary number of dimensions in the LL approximation to the solution of very simple recursive equation.     Power corrections to the process γγππ\gamma^{*}\gamma \to \pi\pi in the running coupling method

    Power-suppressed corrections coming from the end-point integration regions in the amplitude of the process γγππ\gamma^{*}\gamma \to \pi \pi at large Q2Q^2 and small squared center-of-mass energy W2W^2 are calculated in the QCD hard-scattering approach where the amplitudes factorize in a hard perturbatively calculable part and a generalized distribution amplitude. The running coupling method and the technique of infrared renormalon calculus are applied to obtain Borel resummed expressions for the two main components of the process amplitude. Numerical estimates for these power corrections are presented. They are sizeable when Q2<10GeV2Q^2 < 10 GeV^2.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figure

However, when confronting the predominantly white composition of educational programs, many evade or, at most, acknowledge the situation as a "deficit." Few offer specific strategies for reversing this pattern, if that is the desired outcome. The purpose of this essay is to extend the discourse beyond traditional diversity initiatives by undertaking a field-wide initiative focused on the disparities in faculty and student representation. First, the essay examines systems that have created and supported the persistence of "white" as privileged in academia. Next, a summary and critique of institutional faculty demographic data over the 5-year period from 2006-2011 from four diverse institutions are presented. This analysis illustrates patterns that have resulted in presumably less than desirable numbers of faculty and students of color. Concrete suggestions for recruiting, retaining, and promoting people of color in academic leisure studies programs are included. Increasingly, today's students are attracted to academic programs in which they will be exposed to faculty representing the diversity they will encounter as professionals. This essay offers a call to bridge the perceived gap between practitioners and academia by recommending systemic changes informed by the lived experiences of communities of color that are effectively served by various leisure service providers

    Twist-3 contribution to the γγππ\gamma^*\gamma\to \pi\pi amplitude in the Wandzura-Wilczek approximation

    We have calculated the Wandzura-Wilczek contribution to the twist-3 part of γγ2π\gamma^*\gamma\to 2\pi amplitude. It describes interaction of the longitudinally polarized virtual photon with the real one, and it is suppressed by 1/Q, where Q2Q^2 is the virtuality of the γ\gamma^*, as compared to the twist-2 contribution. We have found that, in the Wandzura-Wilczek approximation, factorization applies to the twist-3 amplitude.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure

    Moments of Nucleon Generalized Parton Distributions in Lattice QCD

    Calculation of moments of generalized parton distributions in lattice QCD requires more powerful techniques than those previously used to calculate moments of structure functions. Hence, we present a novel approach that exploits the full information content from a given lattice configuration by measuring an overdetermined set of lattice observables to provide maximal statistical constraints on the generalized form factors at a given virtuality, t. In an exploratory investigation using unquenched QCD configurations at intermediate sea quark masses, we demonstrate that our new technique is superior to conventional methods and leads to reliable numerical signals for the n=2 flavor singlet generalized form factors up to 3 GeV^2.     Angular distributions in hard exclusive production of pion pairs

    Using the leading order amplitudes of hard exclusive electroproduction of pion pairs we have analyzed the angular distribution of the two produced particles. At leading twist a pion pair can be produced only in an isovector or an isoscalar state. We show that certain components of the angular distribution only get contributions from the interference of the I=1 and the (much smaller) I=0 amplitude. Therefore our predictions prove to be a good probe of isospin zero pion pair production. We predict effects of a measurable size that could be observed at experiments like HERMES. We also discuss how hard exclusive pion pair production can provide us with new information on the effective chiral Lagrangian.Comment: 17 pages, version to appear in Phys. Rev.

    Factorizing the hard and soft spectator scattering contributions for the nucleon form factor F_1 at large Q^2

    We investigate the soft spectator scattering contribution for the FF F1F_{1}. We focus our attention on factorization of the hard-collinear scale QΛ\sim Q\Lambda corresponding to transition from SCET-I to SCET-II. We compute the leading order jet functions and find that the convolution integrals over the soft fractions are logarithmically divergent. This divergency is the consequence of the boost invariance and does not depend on the model of the soft correlation function describing the soft spectator quarks. Using as example a two-loop diagram we demonstrated that such a divergency corresponds to the overlap of the soft and collinear regions. As a result one obtains large rapidity logarithm which must be included in the correct factorization formalism. We conclude that a consistent description of the factorization for F1F_{1} implies the end-point collinear divergencies in the hard and soft spectator contributions, i.e. convolution integrals with respect to collinear fractions are not well-defined. Such scenario can only be realized when the twist-3 nucleon distribution amplitude has specific end-point behavior which differs from one expected from the evolution of the nucleon distribution amplitude. Such behavior leads to the violation of the collinear factorization for the hard spectator scattering contribution. We suggest that the soft spectator scattering and chiral symmetry breaking provide the mechanism responsible for the violation of collinear factorization in case of form factor F1F_{1}.Comment: 25 pages, 6 figures, text is improved, few typos corrected, one figure added, statement about end-point behavior of the nucleon DA is formulated more accuratel

    DVCS amplitude at tree level: Transversality, twist-3, and factorization

    We study the virtual Compton amplitude in the generalized Bjorken region (q^2 -> Infinity, t small) in QCD by means of a light-cone expansion of the product of e.m. currents in string operators in coordinate space. Electromagnetic gauge invariance (transversality) is maintained by including in addition to the twist-2 operators 'kinematical' twist-3 operators which appear as total derivatives of twist-2 operators. The non-forward matrix elements of the elementary twist-2 operators are parametrized in terms of two-variable spectral functions (double distributions), from which twist-2 and 3 skewed distributions are obtained through reduction formulas. Our approach is equivalent to a Wandzura-Wilczek type approximation for the twist-3 skewed distributions. The resulting Compton amplitude is manifestly transverse up to terms of order t/q^2. We find that in this approximation the tensor amplitude for longitudinal polarization of the virtual photon is finite, while the one for transverse polarization contains a divergence already at tree level. However, this divergence has zero projection on the polarization vector of the final photon, so that the physical helicity amplitudes are finite.Comment: 34 pages, revtex, 1 eps figure included using epsf.
