Energetic solar proton versus terrestrially trapped proton fluxes for the active years 1977 - 1983
Ratios of solar to trapped proton fluences were computed for circular-orbit, geocentric space missions to be flown during the active phase of the next solar cycle (1977-1983). The ratios are presented as functions of orbit altitude and inclination, mission duration, proton energy threshold, and the chance the mission planner is willing to take that the actually encountered solar proton fluence will exceed the design fluence provided by the statistical solar proton model. It is shown that the ratio is most sensitively dependent on orbit altitude and inclination, with trapped protons dominant for low inclination, low and mid altitude orbits and for high inclination, mid altitude orbits. Conversely, solar protons are dominant for high inclination, low altitude orbits, and for low and high inclination, high altitude orbits

Stochastic Trends and Economic Fluctuations
Recent developments in macroeconomic theory emphasize that transient economic fluctuations can arise as responses to changes in long run factors -- in particular, technological improvements -- rather than short run factors. This contrasts with the view that short run fluctuations and shifts in long run trends are largely unrelated. We examine empirically the effect of shifts in stochastic trends that are common to several macroeconomic series. Using a linear time series model related to a VAR, we consider first a system with GNP, consumption and investment with a single common stochastic trend; we then examine this system augmented by money and prices and an additional stochastic trend. Our results suggest that movements in the "real" stochastic trend account for one-half to two-thirds of the variation in postwar U.S. GNP.
A New Young Diagrammatic Method For Kronecker Products of O(n) and Sp(2m)
A new simple Young diagrammatic method for Kronecker products of O(n) and
Sp(2m) is proposed based on representation theory of Brauer algebras. A general
procedure for the decomposition of tensor products of representations for O(n)
and Sp(2m) is outlined, which is similar to that for U(n) known as the
Littlewood rules together with trace contractions from a Brauer algebra and
some modification rules given by King.Comment: Latex, 11 pages, no figure
Trapping of the Fruit-flies, Dacus spp. (Diptera: Tephritidae) with methyl eugenol in Orchards
Field trapping of fruit-flies Dacus spp. (Diptera: Tephritidae) using methyl eugenol over a five week
period was conducted in a fruit farm at Gombah, Selaugor, The results showed that traps with slit holes caught
the greatest number of fruit-flies. Over 85% of the flies caught were male, Dacus dorsalis, Hendel. When
different formulations of methyl eugenol; malaathion 50EC + methyl eugenol, Carbaryl85S + methyl eugenol,
Dipterex SP 95%) methyl eugenol and distilled water + methyl eugenol were tested at Serdang significant
differences 'were only detected in the number of flies trapped in those traps with methyl eugenol -I- insecticides
and those 'with methyl eugenol alone. The technique use were effective in controlling the fruit-flies for there
was a reduction of 20% of damaged carambola fruits
