In order to broaden understanding of English as a foreign language (EFL) tea- cher motivation, this study examines Korean EFL teachers’ initial job motives and demotiva- ting factors. Four psychological constructs emerged regarding initial career motives: Global Orientation, Job Security, Altruism, and Ought-to Self. Among the constructs, global orien- tation proved to be the most popular reason for choosing an EFL teaching career. This study also showed three constructs for detrimental factors on EFL teacher motivation: Obstacles to Communicative Language Teaching, Inadequate Administrative Support, and Lack of Social Recognition. It was shown that obstacles to communicative language teaching contributed to the greatest demotivation.

Application of Jacket Pack Anchor (JP Anchor)

Jacket Pack Anchor(JP Anchor) is applied the irregular layer that general ground anchor is difficult to be applied such as soft layer(SPT-N values of less than 20) or gravel layer that grout lost. It makes sure of the pullout resistance required in these layers by the certain grout bulb formation and expansion effect. Thereby, Jacket Pack Anchor that is a new concept makes possible the construction improving and the cost saving in the excavation site. From the field test results, it was observed that the pullout resistance of Jacket Pack Anchor was about 84% greater than that of general ground anchor, and plastic deformation of Jacket Pack Anchor compared to that of general ground anchor was about 35% at the same load cycle. Especially, it was showed that the increase of resistance over 200% and plastic deformation was about 17% in gravel layer. This method has been applied mainly in the soft reclaimed soil and marine deposit areas of Inchon and Pusan etc. or in the loose layer of urban waste landfill. From the result of these cases, its usefulness has been proved because of ground displacement and building damage with little during the excavation work. Therefore, we propose strongly to try Jacket Pack Anchor in the past difficult layer from this paper. Also, we are hoping to take the full advantage of ground anchor that is secure enough workspace to minimize disturbance of excavation or underground structure can improve work efficiency, using Jacket Pack Anchor in the excavation site

Concurrence of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Bilateral Parotitis after Minocycline Therapy

Minocycline is an antibiotic of tetracycline derivatives that is commonly used in the treatment of moderate to severe acne vulgaris. It has been reported to cause rare adverse events from mild cutaneous eruption to severe forms including drug-induced lupus, serum sickness-like reaction, and hypersensitivity reactions, etc. The risks of adverse events attributed to minocycline have not been ascertained reliably and there are concerns about the safety of minocycline which could possibly result in life-threatening events such as the Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Here we demonstrate an unusual case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome in conjunction with bilateral parotitis after the intake of minocycline in a Korean boy suggesting discreet use of the drug

Multistage Multiscale Inference Network with Visibility Attention for Occluded Person Re-Identification

    Get PDF
For occluded person re-identification this thesis presents the Multistage Multiscale Inference Network (MMI-Net) that leverages an inference framework based on multiscale representations with visibility guidance. MMI-Net consists of three sub-networks, i) global, ii) part-based and iii) integrated, to infer person re-identification. The global inference sub-network provides an overall holistic analysis of input images. The part-based sub-network captures more localized information. Both the global and part-based models make use of multiscale representation across multiple processing stages to capture a variety of complementary discriminative image structure. The integrated sub-network aggregates the global and part-based representations to obtain the final fusion of all extracted information. Pose guided attentional processing is used to provide robustness to occlusion. MMI-Net is unique in its integrated multistage inference architecture that accounts for local and global appearance with attentional processing. In empirical evaluation, MMI-Net outperforms current existing methods on multiple occluded person re-identification datasets

Exactly Soluble Quantum Wormhole in Two Dimensions

We are presenting a quantum traversable wormhole in an exactly soluble two-dimensional model. This is different from previous works since the exotic negative energy that supports the wormhole is generated from the quantization of classical energy-momentum tensors. This explicit illustration shows the quantum-mechanical energy can be used as a candidate for the exotic source. As for the traversability, after a particle travels through the wormhole, the static initial wormhole geometry gets a back reaction which spoils the wormhole structure. However, it may still maintain the initial structure along with the appropriate boundary condition.Comment: v1. 13 pages, 1 figure, REVTeX3; v2. 1 Ref. added, REVTeX4, to appear in Phys. Rev.
