Femtosecond energy transfer between chromophores in allophycocyanin trimers
Ultrafast energy-transfer processes in allophycocyanin (APC) trimers from Mastigocladus laminosus have been examined by a femtosecond absorption technique. Isotropic absorption recovery kinetics with Ο=440Β±30 fs were observed in APC trimers at 615 nm. In APC monomers such a fast process was not observed. The anisotropy in both samples was constant and close to 0.4 during the first few picoseconds. The results are consistent with a model of the APC trimer in which the two APC chromophores have different absorption spectra with maxima about 600 and 650 nm. The transfer of energy from the 600 nm chromophore to the 650 nm chromophore occurs in 440 fs and is dominated by the FΓΆrster dipoleβdipole energy-transfer mechanism
Model-Based Testing of Safety Critical Real-Time Control Logic Software
The paper presents the experience of the authors in model based testing of
safety critical real-time control logic software. It describes specifics of the
corresponding industrial settings and discusses technical details of usage of
UniTESK model based testing technology in these settings. Finally, we discuss
possible future directions of safety critical software development processes
and a place of model based testing techniques in it.Comment: In Proceedings MBT 2012, arXiv:1202.582

Endogenous intoxication as a typical pathological process has been and remains one of the key problems in virtually all fields of medicine and mainly in reanimatology. Accumulation of endogenous toxic substances is an integral component of any critical condition and accompanies severe injury, generalized infections, abdominal organ derangement. Loss of the function of detoxifying systems in multiple organ dysfunction leads to progressive endotoxicosis and worsening gas exchange disorders, including detoxification in the organs themselves, thus closing the vicious circle of tanatogenesis. Endogenous intoxication is a multidisciplinary problem that is the area of many different fields of practical medicine, experimental pathophysiology, and biomedical technology. Thus, current efferent therapeutic techniques for critical conditions and extracorporeal detoxification in particular are being introduced into clinical practice. The V. A. Negovsky Research Institute of General Reanimatology, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, has been studying the theoretical and applied issues concerning the problem of endotoxicosis for many years. This review attempts to generalize the main results the Institute’s activity in this area.
