Value-at-risk портфелю цінних паперів (Portfolio value-at-risk)
(In this paper the portfolio Value-at-Risk formulas are investigated using the portfolio assets weights. Considering drawbacks of the classic approach, where Value-at-Risk is treated like the standard deviation of return, more sophisticated formulas are derived. The Value-at-Risk back-testing of the Dow Jones index portfolio shows that the estimation error for
the derived formulas is lower than for the classic approach. Moreover, analysis of the results shows that in many cases this error partially offsets the estimation error for the expected returns and their standard deviations through sample statistics.
Primary Sequences of Protein-Like Copolymers: Levy Flight Type Long Range Correlations
We consider the statistical properties of primary sequences of two-letter HP
copolymers (H for hydrophobic and P for polar) designed to have water soluble
globular conformations with H monomers shielded from water inside the shell of
P monomers. We show, both by computer simulations and by exact analytical
calculation, that for large globules and flexible polymers such sequences
exhibit long-range correlations which can be described by Levy-flight
statistics.Comment: 4 pages, including 2 figures; several references added, some

Atomic static displacements and their effect on the short range order in alloys
The influence of local atomic static displacements (ASD) on the short range
order formation in binary alloys is investigated within the microscopic theory.
Explicit expression for the binary correlation function Fourier components ‹ρkρ−k› is obtained by the collective variables method. The theoretical
results are illustrated by numerical calculations performed for disordered
alloys of the K-Cs and Ca-Ba systems. A drastic effect of the ASD
on the ‹ρkρ−k›-function behaviour in the first Brillouin zone is observed.
The ASD smooth the dispersion of the ‹ρkρ−k›-function. Negative values
of the short-range order parameter on the first coordination sphere indicate
a trend to the ordering in alloys of the systems investigated. The ASD
are shown to favour the ordering tendency. The theoretical conclusions
concerning the temperature influence on the short range order parameter
perfectly agree with the experimental data from the treatment of the X-ray
diffuse scattering in binary alloys.
Jet-Induced Explosions of Core Collapse Supernovae
We numerically studied the explosion of a supernova caused by supersonic jets
present in its center. The jets are assumed to be generated by a
magneto-rotational mechanism when a stellar core collapses into a neutron star.
We simulated the process of the jet propagation through the star, jet
breakthrough, and the ejection of the supernova envelope by the lateral shocks
generated during jet propagation. The end result of the interaction is a highly
nonspherical supernova explosion with two high-velocity jets of material moving
in polar directions, and a slower moving, oblate, highly distorted ejecta
containing most of the supernova material. The jet-induced explosion is
entirely due to the action of the jets on the surrounding star and does not
depend on neutrino transport or re-acceleration of a stalled shock. The jet
mechanism can explain the observed high polarization of Type Ib,c and Type II
supernovae, pulsar kicks, very high velocity material observed in supernova
remnants, indications that radioactive material was carried to the
hydrogen-rich layers in SN1987A, and some others observations that are very
difficult or impossible to explain by the neutrino energy deposition mechanism.
The breakout of the jet from a compact, hydrogen- deficient core may account
for the gamma-ray bursts and radio outburst associated with SN1998bw/GRB980425.Comment: 14 pages, LaTeX, aaspp4.sty, epsf.sty, submitted to ApJ Let
Effects of cholesterol- or 7-ketocholesterol-containing liposomes on colony-forming ability of cultured cells
AbstractExperiments with cultured Chinese hamster cells showed that incubation of the cells with (phosphatidylcholine + cholesterol + 7-ketocholesterol)-containing liposomes (4:3:1 by weight) during two hours led to a decrease in the colony-forming ability of cells down to zero, while (phosphatidylcholine + cholesterol)-containing liposomes (1:1 by weight) reduce this parameter by 90%. Furthermore, the cholesterol-containing liposomes (without 7-ketocholesterol) induce a decrease in the number of the maximal-site colonies accompanied by the corresponding increase in the number of the middle-size colonies
Ethical aspects of using software with artificial intelligence technology
Today, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can offer solutions to many social problems, including those used to diagnose and treat diseases. However, for this it is necessary to provide an appropriate legal basis. The article presents a brief history of the development of AI, explains the conceptual apparatus, describes the legal basis for its development and implementation in Russian healthcare, the methodology for conducting clinical trials of AI systems, and gives their classification. Particular attention is paid to the ethical principles of clinical trials of AI systems. The ethical examination of projects of clinical trials of AI systems by the Ethics Committee is considered in detail
