Turban Pin Inhalation Syndrome with Unusually Mobile Pin from Series of Radiographs

Foreign Bodies (FB) dislodges are common in the ear, nose and throat especially among infants and children. Occasionally, they can accidentally be ended up in the bronchus as well. We describe a 13-year-old girl with accidental ingestion of a scarf needle pin after she was slapped on the back while biting the pin. Chest radiograph had confirmed the diagnosis of pin ingestion which is consistent with turban pin inhalation syndrome. In view of logistic and specialty issues, she was transferred to another tertiary hospital for further intervention. A series of chest radiograph showed a migratory metallic FB in different locations in the airway, which was considered as an extreme rarity. We discuss this rare entity with literature review of FB aspiration in general

Samples of soil from different University hostels have been analyzed for radon concentrations and annual effective dose. For the measurement, alpha sensitive LR115 Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNDT) were used. In this research, the calculated value of radon concentration emanated from the soil samples varied from 28 ± 24.665 Bqm-3 to 314 ± 41.589Bqm-3 and the average annual effective dose is varied from 0.48 ± 0.424 m Svy-1 to 5.40 ± 0.715 m Svy-1 . According to these results, it was not found the higher level of radon concentration and the annual effective dose which are lower than 14m Svy-1 , the ICRP recommended level

Disclosed are an amphiphilic polymer, its synthesis and uses thereof. The polymer has a hydrocarbon backbone with —COOH side groups. It further has first aliphatic moieties with a main chain of about 3 to about 20 carbon atoms and 0 to about 3 heteroatoms, and second aliphatic moieties that have a main chain of about 3 to about 80 carbon atoms and about 2 to about 40 heteroatoms. The second aliphatic moieties have a copolymerisable group. In the synthesis a maleic anhydride polymer of formula (I) where n is an integer from about 10 to about 10000 and R1 is H or methyl, is reacted with a monofunctional compound with an alkyl chain of about 3 to about 20 carbon atoms and 0 to about 2 heteroatoms, and with an at least bifunctional compound with an alkyl chain of about 3 to about 80 carbon atoms and 0 to about 40 heteroatoms. The functional group of the monofunctional compound and one functional group of the at least bifunctional compound can form a linkage with an anhydride. Another functional group of the at least bifunctional compound, which is not allowed to react with the maleic anhydride polymer, is copolymerisable
