In teacher qualifications, skills in teaching principles and methods are important. High self-efficacy prospective teachers are able to solve the problems they face more easily when they start their profession. This study aims to examine the self-efficacy of the teacher candidates on teaching principles and methods. The universe in study is teacher candidates who are students at a university in Kosovo. The results of the research are based on the applied self-efficacy scale data. For the other sub-questions, the Mann-Whitney U test was used for the variables with the non-parametric tests, while the Kruskal-Wallis test was used for those two values. As a result, the self-efficacy levels of teacher candidates are related to teaching principles and methods are positive and moderate. Teacher candidates vary in their self-efficacy according to gender, course taking, seminar attendance, and ethnicity. The departments of the teacher candidates also affect their self-efficacy.  Article visualizations

Humoral Rejection in Cardiac Transplantation: Management of Antibody-Mediated Rejection

    Get PDF
After a successful heart transplantation, fundamental keys to achieve good results in the long term are to establish immunosuppressive therapy in the postoperative period in an appropriate manner and to ensure continuity of follow-ups. Despite the fact that these stages are maintained perfectly, patients may face one or more rejection episodes. T-cell-mediated acute cellular rejection of the cardiac allograft has well-established treatment algorithms, whereas antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) is challenging to diagnose, and its treatment varies between centers. Investigators reported that AMR is among the most important factors to improving long-term outcomes. Improved understanding of the roles of acute and chronic AMR has evolved in recent years following a major progress in the technical ability to detect and quantify recipient antihuman leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibody production. Recently, a study of the immunobiology of B cells and plasma cells that pertains to allograft rejection and tolerance has emerged. There are some questions regarding the classification of AMR, the diagnostic approaches, and the treatment strategies for managing. In this chapter, we are discuss the effector mechanisms that are used by antibodies to eliminate antigens and clinical experience about AMR and its treatment with a discussion about the latest articles

If education is a right, it is indeed not equal and identical for all.  Already, education is a place conducive to the reproduction of social norms connected to gender roles. While many studies have high lighted differences in human capital endowment between girls and boys, referring mainly to knowledge and skills, few studies have been interested in savoir-être (attitudes) and emotional skills. The traditional separation of the cognitive, emotional and psychomotor domains has long prevented the full measure of the role that savoir-être has in the formation of persons and its implications for their futures.  In this article, the impact of gender education on the development of emotional skills of girls and boys, involved in the formation of differentiated emotional capital is studied in the attempt to bring to light the elements of differences observed in terms of school performance and choices in educational and professional orientation

Magneto-caloric effect in the pseudo-binary intermetallic YPrFe17 compound

    Get PDF
We have synthesized the intermetallic YPrFe17 compound by arc-melting. X-ray and neutron powder diffraction show that the crystal structure is rhombohedral with View the MathML source space group (Th2Zn17-type). The investigated compound exhibits a broad isothermal magnetic entropy change {\Delta}SM(T) associated with the ferro-to-paramagnetic phase transition (TC \approx 290 K). The |{\Delta}SM| (\approx 2.3 J kg-1 K-1) and the relative cooling power (\approx 100 J kg-1) have been calculated for applied magnetic field changes up to 1.5 T. A single master curve for {\Delta}SM under different values of the magnetic field change can be obtained by a rescaling of the temperature axis. The results are compared and discussed in terms of the magneto-caloric effect in the isostructural R2Fe17 (R = Y, Pr and Nd) binary intermetallic alloys.Comment: Preprint, 5 pages (postprint), 4 figures, regular pape

Investigation of the Frequency of Thrombophilic Gene Mutations in Patients with Venous Thromboembolism in Eastern Turkey

    Get PDF
Objectives: Polymorphisms in the thrombophilia genes such as Factor V Leiden (FVL), Prothrombin G20210A and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) cause genetic predisposition to thrombophilia. The regional incidence of these polymorphisms varies. The aim of our study is to evaluate the regional frequency of the most common single nucleotide polymorphisms of these thrombophilia genes. Methods: In this retrospective study, patients diagnosed with VTE in our center were included in the study. The presence of FVL, Prothrombin G20210A, MTHFR C677T, MTHFR A1298C, plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI)-1, β-Fibrinogen, Factor XIIIA (V34L) and Glycoprotein IIIA (L33P) were investigated in blood samples obtained from the patients, and the association of genotype disorders was also evaluated. Results: Eight genotypes were analyzed in 2000 patients whose thrombophilia panel was studied in our clinic. The frequency of heterozygosity for the Factor II G20210A polymorphisms was 4,6%, the homozygosity for the Factor V Leiden polymorphism was 0,4%, for MTHFR C677T 7,6% , for MTHFR A1298C 48,1% and 15,7% , for PAI-1 38,8% and 13% , for β-Fibrinogen 30,3% and 4%, for Factor XIIIA (V34L) 23,3% and 2,4% and for Glycoprotein IIIA (L33P) 17,7% and 1,5% respectively. Conclusions: Factor V Leiden and Factor II (Prothrombin) G20210A mutations were found at a higher rate in our region compared to other regions in the west

Stereotactic body radioablation therapy as an immediate and early term antiarrhythmic palliative therapeutic choice in patients with refractory ventricular tachycardia

    Get PDF
Background: Stereotactic body radioablation therapy (SBRT) has recently been introduced with the ability to provide ablative energy noninvasively to arrhythmogenic substrate while reducing damage to normal cardiac tissue nearby and minimizing patients’ procedural risk. There is still debate regarding whether SBRT has a predominant effect in the early or late period after the procedure. We sought to assess the time course of SBRT’s efficacy as well as the value of using a blanking period following a SBRT session. Methods: Eight patients (mean age 58 ± 14 years) underwent eight SBRT sessions for refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT). SBRT was given using a linear accelerator device with a total dose of 25 Gy to the targeted area. Results: During a median follow-up of 8 months, all patients demonstrated VT recurrences; however, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) and anti-tachycardia pacing therapies were significantly reduced with SBRT (8.46 to 0.83/per month, p = 0.047; 18.50 to 3.29/per month, p = 0.036, respectively). While analyzing the temporal SBRT outcomes, the 2 weeks to 3 months period demonstrated the most favorable outcomes. After 6 months, one patient was ICD therapy-free and the remaining patients demonstrated VT episodes. Conclusions: Our findings showed that the SBRT was associated with a marked reduction in the burden of VT and ICD interventions especially during first 3 months. Although SBRT does not seem to succeed complete termination of VT in long-term period, our findings support the strategy that SBRT can be utilized for immediate antiarrhythmic palliation in critically ill patients with otherwise untreatable refractory VT and electrical storm

Reperfusion therapy for ST elevation acute myocardial infarction 2010/2011: current status in 37 ESC countries

    Get PDF
Aims Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is the preferred reperfusion therapy in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). We conducted this study to evaluate the contemporary status on the use and type of reperfusion therapy in patients admitted with STEMI in the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) member countries. Methods and results A cross-sectional descriptive study based on aggregated country-level data on the use of reperfusion therapy in patients admitted with STEMI during 2010 or 2011. Thirty-seven ESC countries were able to provide data from existing national or regional registries. In countries where no such registries exist, data were based on best expert estimates. Data were collected on the use of STEMI reperfusion treatment and mortality, the numbers of cardiologists, and the availability of PPCI facilities in each country. Our survey provides a brief data summary of the degree of variation in reperfusion therapy across Europe. The number of PPCI procedures varied between countries, ranging from 23 to 884 per million inhabitants. Primary percutaneous coronary intervention and thrombolysis were the dominant reperfusion strategy in 33 and 4 countries, respectively. The mean population served by a single PPCI centre with a 24-h service 7 days a week ranged from 31 300 inhabitants per centre to 6 533 000 inhabitants per centre. Twenty-seven of the total 37 countries participated in a former survey from 2007, and major increases in PPCI utilization were observed in 13 of these countries. Conclusion Large variations in reperfusion treatment are still present across Europe. Countries in Eastern and Southern Europe reported that a substantial number of STEMI patients are not receiving any reperfusion therapy. Implementation of the best reperfusion therapy as recommended in the guidelines should be encourage
