神経性やせ症患者の不安に対するマインドフルネス瞑想の効果 --脳活動の変化を明らかに--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2023-02-02.Accepting anxiety for peace of mind. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2023-02-08.We examined the neural underpinnings of the effects of mindfulness on anxiety in anorexia nervosa using functional magnetic resonance imaging in 21 anorexia patients. We used a functional magnetic resonance imaging task designed to induce weight-related anxiety and asked participants to regulate their anxiety either using or not using an acceptance strategy. Our results showed reduced activity in the amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex, putamen, caudate, orbital gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, posterior cingulate cortex and precuneus following a mindfulness-based intervention. The present study provides new insight regarding the neural mechanisms underlying the effect of mindfulness-based intervention in ameliorating anorexia nervosa

    暁烏文庫『大東輿地図索引』に挟み込まれていた 暁烏敏宛の葉書について

This paper examines the origin of a postcard addressed to AKEGARASU Haya (暁烏敏), which was inserted in the “Daitoyochizu Sakuin (大東輿地図索引)” in AKEGARAU BUNKO (暁烏文庫:Collection of books by AKEGARASU HAYA), and the information obtained from it. As a result of the investigation, it was found that this postcard was sent to AKEGARASU Haya on November 29, 1936, from OTANI Shoshin (大谷勝眞), a professor of law and literature at Keijo (京城) Imperial University and a priest of Shinshu sect Otani school. The main purpose of the postcard was for OTANI to inform AEGARASU that the distribution of “Chosenshi (朝鮮史:History of Korea)” by the Society for the Editing of Korean History, as requested by AKEGARASU when he visited Keijo, had been realized. By investigating the background of this postcard, we can obtain information about the Oriental historian OTANI Shoshin, information about the distribution of “Chosenshi”, as well as information about AKEGARASUʼs friendships and his book-collecting process. In this sense, this postcard is a valuable resource that will contribute to these studies

Wasted energy : unlocking the biogas potential in Trinidad and Tobago : a transition theory perspective

    No full text
Trinidad and Tobago is heavily dependent on fossil fuels and the attendant challenges from its consumption have sparked a growing interest in the capacity of renewable energies to remedy some of these issues. Biogas has been earmarked as one possible alternative, particularly in light of the problems with waste management however, efforts to initiate its usage have been negligible. This study therefore aims to explore how biogas production can be integrated locally to alleviate these problems. The assessment is empirically illustrated with a qualitative, single case study based on the Beetham Landfill, with input from documents, interviews and observations. The Transition Theory based on the Multi-Level Perspective provided the analytical framework and through it the key driving forces and barriers of this transition process were determined. To overcome the current fossil fuel ‘lock-in’, the transformation in the energy sector was found to involve a dual transition in both the energy and waste sectors. Further to this Trinidad and Tobago was aligned with a reconfiguration transition pathway, which contrary to the theoretical convention is a regime-based transition. It was recommended that these regime actors facilitate financial inducements, enabling environments and societal changes to activate the process. Strategic Niche Management was identified be a suitable and useful management tool for steering this process and broader scale linkages with strong sustainability were also established. It is anticipated that collectively, these elements can contribute to the transition to a sustainably oriented energy system

N-¹, N-¹⁴-diferuloylspermine as an antioxidative phytochemical contained in leaves of Cardamine fauriei

Most Brassicaceae vegetables are ideal dietary sources of antioxidants beneficial for human health. Cardamine fauriei (Ezo-wasabi in Japanese) is a wild, edible Brassicaceae herb native to Hokkaido, Japan. To clarify the main antioxidative phytochemical, an 80% methanol extraction from the leaves was fractionated with Diaion (R) HP-20, Sephadex (R) LH-20, and Sep-Pak (R) C18 cartridges, and the fraction with strong antioxidant activity depending on DPPH method was purified by HPLC. Based on the analyses using HRESIMS and MS/MS, the compound might be N-1, N-14-diferuloylspermine. This rare phenol compound was chemically synthesized, whose data on HPLC, MS and H-1 NMR were compared with those of naturally derived compound from C. fauriei. All results indicated they were the same compound. The radical-scavenging properties of diferuloylspermine were evaluated by ORAC and ESR spin trapping methods, with the diferuloylspermine showing high scavenging activities of the ROO, O-2(-), and HO radicals as was those of conventional antioxidants
