Solitary electromagnetic waves propagation in the asymmetric oppositely-directed coupler

We consider the electromagnetic waves propagating in the system of coupled waveguides. One of the system components is a standard waveguide fabricated from nonlinear medium having positive refraction and another component is a waveguide produced from an artificial material having negative refraction. The metamaterial constituting the second waveguide has linear characteristics and a wave propagating in the waveguide of this type propagates in the direction opposite to direction of energy flux. It is found that the coupled nonlinear solitary waves propagating both in the same direction are exist in this oppositely-directed coupler due to linear coupling between nonlinear positive refractive waveguide and linear negative refractive waveguide. The corresponding analytical solution is found and it is used for numerical simulation to illustrate that the results of the solitary wave collisions are sensible to the relative velocity of the colliding solitary waves.Comment: 9 pages,5 figure

The structure and residual elastic stresses in 3D printed (Selective laser melting) Ti-6A1-4V samples after the low-frequency vibration processing were investigated. The studied samples were manufactured horizontally in respect to the building platform. Different vibration oscillations modes (vertical, horizontal, and elliptical) were chosen for study. The oscillations were done with frequency of 16 Hz, and a processing time was 20 minutes. Studies shown that 3D printed samples had a high level of residual elastic stresses, which were changed after vibration treatment. The influence of the low-frequency processing on the phase composition of the alloy was found. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

The necessity and complexity of standardization

-The standards are one of the most important infrastructural elements of the economy. The relationship between all factors ensuring product quality and safety is carried out by using complex standardization. The standards establish and ensure the technically achievable level of safety, quality and competitiveness of products. The main factors of standardization object: the object composition, object production and monitoring, in their turn, form the following more precise groups of factors, determining the object quality: primary products and materials, component nodes and parts, production technology, equipment, tools and appliances, measurement means, and test methods. On the example of a specific standard, the "tree of references" of the first and second levels and the problems of an integrated approach for establishing quality requirements for a specific product is considered. The necessity and complexity of updating the requirements that ensure the systematization, optimization and coordination of all interacting factors influencing a specific object of standardization and providing an economically optimal level of quality of the object are demonstrated. © 2020, World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society. Background. Today, the critical care medicine is actively developing, and rapid progress is closely related to the achievements of molecular biology, immunology, and pathological physiology. The study of the role of individual molecular structures in the realization of the reactions of innate and adaptive immunity, which underlie the pathogenesis of critical conditions, is an urgent scientific direction and is of interest.Aims. To assess the contribution of the protein complex MRP-8/14 to thedevelopment of systemic inflammation by determining its plasma  concentration in patients with pneumonia with influenza A/H1N1.Materials and methods. 85 patients with pneumonia associated with influenza A/H1N1 were examined. Of these, 30 patients with severe pneumonia, 55 with non-severe pneumonia. The plasma concentration of the S100A8/A9 protein complex (MRP-8/14) was determined by flow cytometry on an analyzer (Beckman Coulter, USA).Results. It was found that in patients with severe pneumonia with influenza A/H1N1, the concentration of MRP-8/14 increased in 1.9 times compared  with healthy. At the same time, in patients with severe pneumonia with influenza A/H1N1 with a fatal outcome, the concentration of MRP-8/14 increased in 2.1 times.Conclusion. An increase in the level of MRP-8/14 in patients with severe pneumonia associated with influenza A/H1N1, on the one hand, reflects the severity of the course of systemic inflammation, on the other hand, the molecules MRP-8 and MRP-14, acting as damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) stimulate a pro-inflammatory response and contribute to the development of critical state. Thereby, the protein complex MRP-8/14 can be considered as a potential point of application of pharmacological action in the intensive care of critical conditions

The aim of the study is the evaluation of the significance of various risk factors for congenital fetus pathology (congenital defect – CD) and the development of risk numeric scale. 424 pregnant women with fetus CD and 520 pregnant women with fetus without congenital defects have been examined. Artificial neural nets have been used for investigation how various factors effect on pregnancy termination. It has been found that the important factors for congenital fetus defect risk are: age younger 18 years of an pregnant women, age older 35 years, noncarring of pregnancy in anamnesis, complicated clinical course of the first pregnancy trimester, CD cases in a family, ultrasonic markers of chromosome pathology in the first pregnancy trimester. Changes in maternal serum AFP, hCG and uE3 levels and blood flow disorders are important to forming high risk group. A numeric scale for CD risk has been developed on the basis of neuronic net analysis.

The Kungur Ice Cave is visited by thousands of tourists every year, so the question of anthropogenic influence on changing its state is acute. Snow and ice formations are the main attraction of the cave. From the moment of discovery and improvement of the cave, the thickness of glaciation began to depend not only on natural, but also on technical and anthropogenic conditions. First, this is a change in the temperature of the outside air, the annual rise of underground and surface waters (the Sylva River), the construction of inlet and outlet tunnels, artificial ventilation, and the number of tourists. To assess the impact of the flow of tourists on the microclimatic characteristics of the Cave, the staff of the Kungur Stationary Laboratory conducted research during the period of maximum anthropogenic load in the summer of 2022. The data analyzed in this article made it possible to clarify that the existing tourist load has an insignificant impact on the microclimate of the Cave. After the passage of each group of tourists, the air temperature in the grottoes slightly increases (by a maximum of 0.1–0.2°C) but is restored during the daytime within 4–12 minutes, and at night the temperature regime is completely restored. The maximum tourist load per day is 825–925 people or more, depending on the operating mode of the Cave. Thus, the visiting regulations and the allowed throughput of the cave are currently chosen correctly. The number of tourists is not so large as to limit the visit to the Cave to protect the ice formations, especially since the first-year ice is renewed every winter.

    Get PDF
Background. A critical condition of any genesis may be accompanied by the development of multiple organ failure, one of the manifestations of which is acute renal injury. Often, the process is subclinical in nature and the «classical» approaches to diagnose renal damage by creatinine concentration, urea level and assessment of glomerular filtration rate may not fully reflect the degree of impaired renal function, while acute kidney injury is a well-known predictor of high hospital mortality among critically ill patients.Aims. The purpose of this study was to assess functional state of the kidneysby determining the serum concentration of the markers of kidney injury  NGAL and Cystatin C in patients with pneumonia associated with influenza A/H1N1.Materials and methods. 85 patients with pneumonia associated with influenza A/H1N1 were examined, 30 patients with severe pneumonia, 55 with non-severe pneumonia. The control group was formed by 15 healthy donors. The serum concentration of NGAL and Cystatin C molecules was determined by flow cytometry on a Beckman Coulter analyzer (USA), using a Human Immune Checkpoint Panel 1 multiplex assay kit (Biolegend, USA). The glomerular filtration rate was calculated using the CKD-EPI formula.Results. It was found that in patients with severe pneumonia with the influenza A/H1N1, the concentration of NGAL increased 3.8 times compared with the control group, the concentration of Cystatin C increased 1.4 times, the glomerular filtration rate did not change.Conclusion. Timely diagnosis of subclinical kidney injury makes it possible to  objectify the severity of the condition, make adjustments to therapy, which can help to an increase in the survival rate of critically ill patients

Today in Irkutsk region, we face a noticeable increase in the number of cases of ixodid tick sucking to urban residents. Ticks, found in the territory of Irkutsk city, were detected to have all currently known pathogens causing such serious diseases as tick-borne encephalitis, tick-borne borreliosis, monocytic ehrlichiosis, granulocytic anaplasmosis, rickettsiosis and tick-borne recurrent fever. These diseases may develop to severe  forms, and lead to disability or even death.  The aim of the study was to evaluate the opinion of parents and doctors on vaccination against tick-borne viral encephalitis in Irkutsk based on the data of an anonymous questionnaire survey.Material and methods. The descriptive retrospective epidemiological study was conducted between November 2018 and January 2019. It included 1620 parents and 193 doctors of various specialties in Irkutsk. Statistical processing of the material was carried out using Excel tables (Windows 2010) and the Statistica 6.0 program. Results and discussion. In general, the attitude towards vaccination looks positive – 98 % of the parents vaccinate their children. 11.3 % of parents vaccinate their children from tick-borne encephalitis, 23.3 % of doctors vaccinate themselves. Every fourth doctor vaccinates his child against this infection.Conclusion. Insufficient vaccination coverage against tick-borne encephalitis is noted both among the population and among doctors of Irkutsk. It is important to introduce health education for the population and to adopt new ways for improving the qualifications of doctors in immunization issues
