In this study, four companies operating in the same sector that had applied for commercial credit from one of the largest private capital banks of Turkey were compared in terms of their performance and the company with the credit application most likely to be satisfied was determined. The Data Envelopment Analytic Hierarchy Process, created by the joint (hybrid) use of the Data Envelopment Analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process was used in this study. Overall weights were obtained by summing the local weights obtained by Data Envelopment Analysis. Criteria, sub-criteria and weights regarding the alternatives in the hierarchy were calculated according to the Analytic Hierarchy Process and The Data Envelopment Analytic Hierarchy Process methods and the results were similar. According to the findings obtained with both approaches, company ethics and intelligence were determined to be the most important criteria, whereas the company’s sales and marketing structure and sectoral structure were determined to be the least important criteria. On the other hand, according to both the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Data Envelopment Analytic Hierarchy Process approaches, Company 2 was determined to be the most appropriate company whose credit application would be satisfied. Keywords: Commercial credit application; Credit application evaluation model; Multi Criteria Decision Making; Data Envelopment Analytic Hierarchy Process

Employment of People with Disabilities and Ergonomic Risk Factors at Workplace

The importance of employment to people with disabilities has been increasing in recent years. Participation in working life as active producers has been the main factor in community integration of people with disabilities. It has been proven that if people with disabilities are given the opportunity to develop and use their working capacity, they can be as successful as those who do not have any disabilities, and nowadays the most rational way of helping people with disabilities is to provide them with profession and work. Vocational rehabilitation is a process that helps someone to overcome the barriers when beginning to work, continuing to work, or returning to work after any accident, illness, or disorder. Although the employee is selected according to his/her ability according to the work to be done, it is very important that the place to work matches the physical and psychological characteristics of the employee. Ergonomics is important at working life as it affects productivity. Many different ergonomic risk factors are available to affect the quality of life of a person at workplace. This chapter focuses on the employment of people with disabilities, the risk factors they may face at workplace and assessment of risk factors

Biosecurity levels of livestock enterprises in Turkey and factors affecting these levels

Biosecurity (BS) is a multidimensional preventive medicine approach that has health, technical, and financial aspects. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of the BS scores belonging to the livestock enterprises depending on the geographical region and breeding types and to predict the socioeconomic factors having an impact over the BS level. The study was conducted with 517 breeders who live in 7 different regions of Turkey. The results have revealed that the enterprises performing “beef cattle fattening and dairy cattle breeding together” have higher BS scores than the enterprises in the other breeding category (P < 0.01). The differences between the technical and financial scores according to geographical regions were statistically significant (P < 0.01). The regions categorized as “west” have the highest score and “south” have the lowest score. It was determined that as the “educational level of the breeder” and “enterprise scale” increased, the BS score significantly went up. The regression model was found significant as a whole (P < 0.01) and the independent variables explained the variation in the technical and financial BS scores to be 14.6% and 12.7%, respectively. Dissemination of education/training practices and increasing enterprise scales will positively affect the level of BS in the sector. © TÜBITA

The purpose of this study was to estimate the variance components and genetic parameters for birth weight in Brown Swiss cattle reared at Malya and Konuklar State Farms, Türkiye. The least square means of birth weight were 39.91±0.005 and 42.26±0.09kg for the calves raised at Malya and Konuklar State Farms, respectively. The effects of calving year, parity and calf sex on birth weight were significant (P<0.05). The effect of calving season on birth weight was highly significant (P<0.01) for Malya State Farm, while it was non-significant for Konuklar State Farm. Direct heritability (h2d), maternal heritability (h2m), total heritability (h2T) and the fraction of variance due to maternal permanent environmental effects (c2) were 0.09, 0.04, 0.11 and 0.04, respectively for birth weights of the calves raised at Malya State Farms. The corresponding values of birth weight for calves raised at Konuklar State Farm were 0.39, 0.015, 0.29 and 0.018, respectively
