Hybrid ECAL: Optimization and Related Developments

Hybrid ECAL is a cost-conscious option of electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) for particle flow calorimetry to be used in a detector of International Linear Collider (ILC). It is a combination of silicon-tungsten ECAL, which realizes high granularity and robust measurement of electromagnetic shower, and scintillator-tungsten ECAL, which gives affordable cost with similar performance to silicon. Optimization and a data acquisition trial in a test bench for the hybrid ECAL are described in this article.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, Talk presented at the International Workshop on Future Linear Colliders (LCWS14), Belgrade, Serbia, 6-10 October 201

Indikasi Kerusakan Dingin pada Mentimun Jepang (Cucumis Sativus L.) Berdasarkan Perubahan Ion Leakage dan PH

In this study, the chilling induced in Japanese cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) stored at chilled temperature and the changes in its quality during storage period were examined. Change in ion leakage and pH were used as indicator of chilling injury symptopms. The sample of cucumber were stored at 5ÂșC (chilling) and 25ÂșC (non chilling). Percentage of ion leakage for cucumber stored at 5ÂșC was higher than that at 25 ÂșC at storage time of 3, 6 and 9 days. The increase in the rate of ion leakage at 5ÂșC indicates the chilling induced of cell membrane. The increasing tendency of pH was observed for cucumber stored at 5ÂșC with the value at storage time of 9 days were higher than that at 25ÂșC. The increase in pH could be thought as the change in acid content which indicate the occurrence of chilling injury. Changes in ion leakage and pH indicate the change in membrane permeability which related to chilling injury

In general, Light Emitting Diode (LED) is low power consumption, and Photovoltaic (PV) generation of Renewable Energy is effective as energy creation. However, LED applications have a problem of LED Circuit Radiation Noise and PV generation applications have a problem of the Output Power fluctuation in the weather. This paper will be proposed as an especial approach of the energy reduction to contribute to the realization of the low carbon society in the world. In this research, without using Common Mode Choke (CMC) Noise Cut filter, the Radiation Noise reduction result in World Standard Guideline by the selection of a simple circuit of the most effective LED lighting of various power reduction methods have been confirmed by the examinations. Additionally, in order to investigate the lighting specification, the simple Lighting evaluation equipment has been developed. As an energy fluctuation reduction research, the new control system of the PV fluctuation electric power using EV battery charge-discharge electric power that is able to be easily connected with a Power Conditioning System (PCS) input is proposed. A simulation result using the actual PV generator output data is provided to confirm the effectiveness of Simple Moving Average (SMA) method. Moreover, the outline of a new large area monitoring control GIS system for the implementation of the PV generator power prognostication without the weather estimation is introduced.äčć·„ć€§ăƒ»ăƒžăƒŹăƒŒă‚·ă‚ąăƒ—ăƒˆăƒ©ć€§ćŠć›œéš›ćˆćŒă‚·ăƒłăƒă‚žă‚Šăƒ : International Symposium on Applied Engineering and Sciences (SAES), September 30- October 1, 2013, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysi

Polynomials, Riemann surfaces, and reconstructing missing-energy events

We consider the problem of reconstructing energies, momenta, and masses in collider events with missing energy, along with the complications introduced by combinatorial ambiguities and measurement errors. Typically, one reconstructs more than one value and we show how the wrong values may be correlated with the right ones. The problem has a natural formulation in terms of the theory of Riemann surfaces. We discuss examples including top quark decays in the Standard Model (relevant for top quark mass measurements and tests of spin correlation), cascade decays in models of new physics containing dark matter candidates, decays of third-generation leptoquarks in composite models of electroweak symmetry breaking, and Higgs boson decay into two tau leptons.Comment: 28 pages, 6 figures; version accepted for publication, with discussion of Higgs to tau tau deca

Scenery from the Top: Study of the Third Generation Squarks at CERN LHC

In the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) properties of the third generation sfermions are important from the viewpoint of discriminating the SUSY breaking models and in the determination of the Higgs boson mass. If gluinos are copiously produced at CERN LHC, gluino decays into tb through stop and sbottom can be studied using hadronic decays of the top quark. The kinematical endpoint of the gluino decays can be evaluated using a W sideband method to estimate combinatorial backgrounds. This implies that fundamental parameters related to the third generation squarks can be reliably measured. The top-quark polarization dependence in the decay process may also be extracted by looking at the b jet distribution near the kinematical endpoint.Comment: 4 pages in PRL format, 4 Postscript figures, uses revtex

A Detailed Study of the Gluino Decay into the Third Generation Squarks at the CERN LHC

In supersymmetric models a gluino can decay into tb\tilde{\chi}^{\pm}_1 through a stop or a sbottom. The decay chain produces an edge structure in the m_{tb} distribution. Monte Carlo simulation studies show that the end point and the edge height would be measured at the CERN LHC by using a sideband subtraction technique. The stop and sbottom masses as well as their decay branching ratios are constrained by the measurement. We study interpretations of the measurement in the minimal supergravity model. We also study the gluino decay into tb and \tilde{\chi}^{\pm}_2 as well as the influence of the stop left-right mixing on the m_{bb} distribution of the tagged tbtb events.Comment: revtex, 20 pages in PRD format, 35 eps file
