On the singular problem involving -Laplacian
In this paper, we show that the existence of a positive weak solution to the
equation (-\Delta_g)^s u=f u^{-q(x)}\;\mbox{in}\; \Omega, where is a
smooth bounded domain in , , and
is the fractional -Laplacian with is the antiderivative
of a Young function and in suitable Orlicz space subjected to zero
Dirichlet condition. This includes the mixed fractional Laplacian as a
special case. The solution so obtained is also shown to be locally H\"older
continuous.Comment: 15p
Media Literacy and Women Empowerment: An Evidence from India
In the present times the role of media and its impact on holistic development of the society is a topic of scholastic and as well as political discussions across the globe. The power of media to empower the underprivileged, especially the women is a topic that attracts lot of public discourse. Previous studies have proved that for any society to develop and prosper, its women are to be developed first and development is the outcome of empowerment. The ability to develop self-control, independence, and confidence in the face of a patriarchal culture is women empowerment and studies claim that having access to information is one of the major factors of empowerment. And the ability to access, understand, evaluate, and disseminate messages in a variety of forms is referred to as media literacy.
This study is aimed at understanding the relationship between media literacy and women empowerment in the context of India. The study highlights the scope and challenges of Indian media and its treatment towards women related issues in India. Further, an attempt has been made to identify the disconnect between the various facets of Indian society which has widened due to the media's distorting of reality with special reference to women
Task irrelevant external cues can influence language selection in voluntary object naming: evidence from Hindi-English bilinguals
We examined if external cues such as other agents’ actions can influence the choice of language
during voluntary and cued object naming in bilinguals in three experiments. Hindi–
English bilinguals first saw a cartoon waving at a color patch. They were then asked to either
name a picture in the language of their choice (voluntary block) or to name in the instructed
language (cued block). The colors waved at by the cartoon were also the colors used as language
cues (Hindi or English). We compared the influence of the cartoon’s choice of color
on naming when speakers had to indicate their choice explicitly before naming (Experiment
1) as opposed to when they named directly on seeing the pictures (Experiment 2 and 3).
Results showed that participants chose the language indicated by the cartoon greater number
of times (Experiment 1 and 3). Speakers also switched significantly to the language
primed by the cartoon greater number of times (Experiment 1 and 2). These results suggest
that choices leading to voluntary action, as in the case of object naming can be influenced
significantly by external non-linguistic cues. Importantly, these symbolic influences can work
even when other agents are merely indicating their choices and are not interlocutors in bilingual

Spin effects in Spherical Harmonic Modes of Gravitational Waves from Eccentric Compact Binary Inspirals
We compute the leading and sub-leading spin effects through the second
post-Newtonian order (2PN) in spherical harmonic modes of gravitational
waveforms from inspiralling compact binaries in non-circular orbits with
non-precessing components. The two spin couplings, linear-in-spin (spin-orbit;
SO) and quadratic-in-spin (spin-spin; SS), that appear in 2PN waveforms are
computed with desired accuracy and explicit expressions for relevant modes are
derived. The modes that have spin corrections through 2PN include = modes. Closed
form expressions for these modes for compact binaries in general orbits as well
as in elliptical orbits are being provided. While the general orbit results can
be used to study signals from binaries in orbits of arbitrary shape and nature,
elliptical orbit results are applicable to systems with arbitrary
eccentricities. We also express the elliptical orbit results as leading
eccentric corrections to the circular results. Our prescription represents, the
first, fully analytical treatment that combines spins, eccentricity and higher
modes together and completes computation of spin effects through 2PN order.
These should find immediate applications in inspiral-merger-ringdown modelling
for eccentric mergers including the effect of non-precessing spins and higher
modes as well as in parameter estimation analyses employing inspiral waveform
Scheduling of automated guided vehicles in a FMS Environment using particle swarm optimization
Efficiency in management of the material handling system plays an important role in planning and operation of a flexible manufacturing system. Many researchers have addressed material handling and vehicle scheduling as two
different problems. The following work focuses on cheduling of both machines and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS). We have made an attempt to consider the scheduling of machines and
vehicles in an integrated manner. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is one of the efficient algorithms that aims to converge and give optimal solution in shorter time. Therefore we have considered PSO for such scheduling
LOFAR search for radio emission from galaxies hosting tidal disruption events
Radio emission from 23 tidal disruption event host galaxies were searched in
the 144 MHz LOFAR-LoTSS2 images. Three host galaxies are detected with diffuse
radio emission, which can be interpreted as either galactic synchrotron radio
emission or diffuse radio halo in dense galactic environments. Non-detection of
(transient) radio emission in majority of galaxies could be due to
self-absorption of radio emission associated with the tidal disruption event.
The detected objects are AT2018iih, RBS 1032, and NGC 5905. Non-detection for
Sw 1644+57 is also reported.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures, In Research Notes AAS (RNAAS
