    Effect of non-homogeneity on free vibration of visco-elastic rectangular plate with varying structural parameters

    Free vibration of a non-homogeneous rectangular plate with thickness varying as an exponential function of abscissa in the plane of the plate is discussed. The non-homogeneity of the plate’s material is characterized by assuming an exponential variation in poisson’s ratio of the plate’s material. Also, temperature variation is considered exponentially in one direction. Plate is assumed to be clamped at all the edges and visco-elastic properties of material are taken as ‘Kelvin’ type. The first two modes of frequency are reported here for various combinations of structural parameters i.e. non-homogeneity constant, thermal gradient, taper constant and aspect ratio of the plate. The results are calculated for a visco-elastic alloy of Aluminum i. e. Duralium. Results of the present paper are compared with known results and are found in excellent agreement

    For m≥2m\geq 2, we study derivations on symbol algebras of degree mm over fields with characteristic not dividing mm. A differential central simple algebra over a field kk is split by a finitely generated extension of kk. For certain derivations on symbol algebras, we provide explicit construction of differential splitting fields and give bounds on their algebraic and transcendence degrees.     Analysis of energy efficient connected target coverage algorithm for static and dynamic nodes in IWSNs

Although connected target coverage algorithms have been studied notice both limitations and applicability of various coverage areas from an industry viewpoint. In this paper is discuss the two energy efficiency connected target coverage (CTC) algorithms CWGC(Communication Weighted Greedy Cover) and OTTC(Overlapped Target and Connected Coverage) algorithm based on dynamic node to resolve the problem of Coverage improvement.     Repercussions of intraalveolar placement of combination of 0.2% chlorhexidine & 10 Mg metronidazole gel on the occurrence of dry sockets- A randomized control trial

    To evaluate the effects of intraalveolar placement of gel containing 0.2% chlorhexidine and 10gm of metronidazole on the incidence of alveolar osteitis. A total of 300 impacted third molars were extracted in 150 patients enrolled in this trial. In each subject a socket was randomly selected and packed to the crest of alveolar ridge with the gel. The contralateral socket was packed with placebo dressing. The occurrence of dry socket was assessed during 3rd and 5th postoperative days .The data was analysed using a meta analytical program. Double blind, prospective, placebo controlled trial. The combination of metronidazole + chlorhexidine gel significantly reduced dry socket incidence from 22.6% to 6.6% (P ≤ 0.001) [McNemar and chi-square tests]. The decrease in incidence of adverse reactions and complications related to local application of metronidazole and chlorhexidine gel explains its clinical use, specifically in mandibular molar extractions where the chances of dry sockets are high

    EVALUATION OF ANXIOLYTIC EFFECT OF MELILOTUS OFFICINALIS EXTRACTS IN MICE

    Objective: Anxiety is one of the most common and serious mental illness affecting humankind and its extensiveness is on the rise at an alarming rate. Anxiolytic substances are highly acclaimed in the ranking of the most utilized drugs by human. The clinical applications of most widely used anxiolytic agents, that is, benzodiazepines are restricted by their undesirable side effects. Therefore, the development of new pharmacological agents for the treatment of this problem is well justified. Among medicinal plants, Melilotus officinalis (yellow sweet clover) has been recommended for relief of insomnia, convulsions, and as nervine tonic in traditional system of medicine. Nevertheless, no pharmacological studies have thus far evaluated its anxiolytic effect. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate antianxiety effect of different extracts of M. officinalis in mice.Methods: The extracts of roots and aerial parts of the plant were prepared according to the polarity, that is, petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanol, and water. The anxiolytic effects of petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanol, and aqueous extract of aerial parts and roots of the plant (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, p.o) were examined in albino mice using elevated plus maze (EPM) and mirror-chamber models of anxiety. High-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) studies were carried out using toluene: Acetone: Formic acid as mobile phase.Results: Various extracts prepared from roots did not produce significant effect in both the models, whereas the ethanol extract prepared from aerial parts at 100 and 200 mg/kg showed a significant anxiolytic effect as compared to control and standard group. The petroleum ether, chloroform, and water extracts (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) of the aerial parts of the plant did not produce meaningful effects in this study. HPTLC analysis of the ethanol extract revealed the presence of nine components.Conclusion: These results suggest that the ethanol extract of aerial parts of M. officinalis plant has statistically significant dose-dependent antianxiety activity which can be attributed to the presence of coumarin, and flavonoid compounds in it

    Molecular characterization of a Y-derived marker chromosome and identification of indels in the DYS1 region in a patient with stigmata of Turner syndrome

    Presence of the Y chromosome in human female and its absence in the male is an abnormal condition, implying a spectrum of genetic abnormalities. In this communication, we describe studies conducted on a 17-year-old patient (HK-459) with stigmata of Turner syndrome. We analysed the hormonal profile of the subject, chromosomal constitution and DNA for the five different loci encompassing both the arms of the Y chromosome. Chromosomal analysis showed mosaicism containing 45,X/46,X,+mar but no Y chromosome. The X chromosome and all the autosomes of the patient and her parents were normal. The Southern analysis of the patient's genomic DNA with probes specific to DYZ1 locus did not detect the corresponding Y-specific signal. Similarly, primers RG4, RG7 and PABY, corresponding to SRY gene and pseudoautosomal boundary regions respectively, failed to generate Y-specific amplicons. However, primers DYZ3 and DYS1, representing centromeric heterochromatic and euchromatic regions respectively, on the long arm of the Y chromosome uncovered Y-specific signals in the patient and her mother. Sequence analysis of DYS1-specific (710 bp) amplicon from the patient, both of her parents and two normal males showed insertion/deletion mutation in the patient. It is inferred that the Y-derived marker chromosome in the patient is of maternal origin and had undergone post-zygotic mutational events. The possible prognostic implications of this combined approach in the patient(s) with stigmata of Turner syndrome are discussed here

    PanGFR-HM: A Dynamic Web Resource for Pan-Genomic and Functional Profiling of Human Microbiome With Comparative Features

    The conglomerate of microorganisms inhabiting various body-sites of human, known as the human microbiome, is one of the key determinants of human health and disease. Comprehensive pan-genomic and functional analysis approach for human microbiome components can enrich our understanding about impact of microbiome on human health. By utilizing this approach we developed PanGFR-HM (http://www.bioinfo.iicb.res.in/pangfr-hm/) – a novel dynamic web-resource that integrates genomic and functional characteristics of 1293 complete microbial genomes available from Human Microbiome Project. The resource allows users to explore genomic/functional diversity and genome-based phylogenetic relationships between human associated microbial genomes, not provided by any other resource. The key features implemented here include pan-genome and functional analysis of organisms based on taxonomy or body-site, and comparative analysis between groups of organisms. The first feature can also identify probable gene-loss events and significantly over/under represented KEGG/COG categories within pan-genome. The unique second feature can perform comparative genomic, functional and pathways analysis between 4 groups of microbes. The dynamic nature of this resource enables users to define parameters for orthologous clustering and to select any set of organisms for analysis. As an application for comparative feature of PanGFR-HM, we performed a comparative analysis with 67 Lactobacillus genomes isolated from human gut, oral cavity and urogenital tract, and therefore characterized the body-site specific genes, enzymes and pathways. Altogether, PanGFR-HM, being unique in its content and functionality, is expected to provide a platform for microbiome-based comparative functional and evolutionary genomics
