Angiography is gold standard technique as preoperative examination for unruptured aneurysmal surgery. Neurosurgeons have observed the unexpected irregular shape and size of the aneurysmal dome and neck in many cases of unruptured cerebral aneurysms during aneurysmal microsurgery, and known the discrepancy between the findings of angiography and operative view. We could not find out the report described the preoperative evaluation of outer-wall (contour) of aneurysm. In the present study, we attempted to evaluate the outer-wall of an unruptured cerebral aneurysm using three-dimensional CT cisternogram (3D-CTC) to provide useful preoperative information. The study was performed on three cases of unruptured cerebral aneurysm that were identified incidentally by MR angiography. We performed three-dimensional CT aniography (3D-CTA) and 3D-CTC for each patient. In the present study, we visualized the contours of vessels and aneurysms using a 3D-CTC in three cases of unruptured cerebral aneurysm. We found the discrepancy between the 3D-CTC contour image and the intra-luminal image 3D-CTA image. This method may be useful for the decision of the surgical approach and have the potential to evaluate the anatomical structure of aneurysmal dome and neck preoperatively.</p

Stretchable Self-Healable Semiconducting Polymer Film for Active-Matrix Strain-Sensing Array

Skin-like sensory devidces shoud be stretchable and self-healable to meet the demands for future electronic skin applications. Despite recent notable advances in skin-inspired electronic materials, it remains challenging to confer these desired functionalities to an active semiconductor. Here, we report a strain-sensitive, stretchable, and autonomously self-healable semiconducting film achieved through blending of a polymer semiconductor and a self-healable elastomer, both of which are dynamically cross-linked by metal coordination. We observed that by controlling the percolation threshold of the polymer semiconductor, the blend film became strain sensitive, with a gauge factor of 5.75 x 105 at 100% strain in a stretchable transistor. The blend film is also highly stretchable (fracture strain, \u3e1300%) and autonomously self-healable at room temperature. We proceed to demonstrate a fully integrated 5 x 5 stretchable active-matrix transistor sensor array capable of detecting strain distribution through surface deformation

PURPOSE: This phase III, multicenter, randomized, open-label study investigated the efficacy and safety of nivolumab versus chemotherapy (gemcitabine [GEM] or pegylated liposomal doxorubicin [PLD]) in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eligible patients had platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian cancer, received ≤ 1 regimen after diagnosis of resistance, and had an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance score of ≤ 1. Patients were randomly assigned 1:1 to nivolumab (240 mg once every 2 weeks [as one cycle]) or chemotherapy (GEM 1000 mg/m2 for 30 minutes [once on days 1, 8, and 15] followed by a week's rest [as one cycle], or PLD 50 mg/m2 once every 4 weeks [as one cycle]). The primary outcome was overall survival (OS). Secondary outcomes included progression-free survival (PFS), overall response rate, duration of response, and safety. RESULTS: Patients (n = 316) were randomly assigned to nivolumab (n = 157) or GEM or PLD (n = 159) between October 2015 and December 2017. Median OS was 10.1 (95% CI, 8.3 to 14.1) and 12.1 (95% CI, 9.3 to 15.3) months with nivolumab and GEM or PLD, respectively (hazard ratio, 1.0; 95% CI, 0.8 to 1.3; P = .808). Median PFS was 2.0 (95% CI, 1.9 to 2.2) and 3.8 (95% CI, 3.6 to 4.2) months with nivolumab and GEM or PLD, respectively (hazard ratio, 1.5; 95% CI, 1.2 to 1.9; P = .002). There was no statistical difference in overall response rate between groups (7.6% v 13.2%; odds ratio, 0.6; 95% CI, 0.2 to 1.3; P = .191). Median duration of response was numerically longer with nivolumab than GEM or PLD (18.7 v 7.4 months). Fewer treatment-related adverse events were observed with nivolumab versus GEM or PLD (61.5% v 98.1%), with no additional or new safety risks. CONCLUSION: Although well-tolerated, nivolumab did not improve OS and showed worse PFS compared with GEM or PLD in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer

High-resolution seismic velocity structure beneath the Hokkaido corner, northern Japan: Arc-arc collision and origins of the 1970 M 6.7 Hidaka and 1982 M 7.1 Urakawa-oki earthquakes

Using travel time data from both a nationwide dense seismic network and a dense temporary seismic network, we obtain a high-resolution three-dimensional seismic velocity structure beneath the Hokkaido corner. Considerable inhomogeneity in the seismic velocity structure is clearly imaged above the subducting Pacific slab. Our results indicate that a broad low-velocity zone of P and S waves, with velocities consistent for crustal rocks, is observed west of the Hidaka main thrust at depths of 35-90 km. The images also indicate that several smaller-scale high-velocity zones are located at depths of 0-35 km, striking approximately north-south and inclined to the east-northeastward at 40°-60°. All of these anomalous high-velocity zones are located at the deeper extension of Neogene thrust faults. The clearest high-velocity zone is located beneath the Hidaka metamorphic belt and is in contact with the eastern edge of the broad low-velocity zone. Moreover, the boundary between the clearest high-velocity and the broad low-velocity zones corresponds to the fault plane of the 1970 Mj (magnitude determined by the Japan Meteorological Agency) 6.7 Hidaka earthquake. The western boundary of another small high-velocity zone, at depths of 20 to 30 km within the broad low-velocity zone, corresponds to the fault plane of the 1982 Mj 7.1 Urakawa-oki earthquake. These observations suggest that these two large and anomalously deep inland earthquakes occurred at sharp material boundaries under a northeast-southwest compressional stress field caused by ongoing arc-arc collision process
