126 p.Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1985.One hundred Executive MBA alumni responses about career development beyond the Executive MBA degree tested reinforcement, expectancy, justification, and perceived norms of profession. Expectancy and norms were found for days of career development if alumni felt financial hardship during the program and felt responsible for not being promoted. Expectancy was shown for days of career development paid for by self if alumni felt financial hardship and felt responsible for not being promoted. Justification and norms were found for days of career development if role (organizational and family) hardship was felt and they felt responsible for not being promoted. Justification was shown for days of career development paid for by self if role hardship was felt and they felt responsible for not being promoted. Implications for theory and for research are discussed.U of I OnlyRestricted to the U of I community idenfinitely during batch ingest of legacy ETD
